Title: [Glimmer][Satyr, Cute] Glimmer of Knowledge Author: Etiquette Pastebin link: http://pastebin.com/eAXEdg4m First Edit: Wednesday 4th of September 2013 12:54:09 AM CDT Last Edit: Wednesday 4th of September 2013 12:54:09 AM CDT This short was heavily inspired by a story that friend of mine wrote. You can find the part of the story that I basically copied here: http://pastebin.com/rzNCvCiX This was written with his permission.   >The train engine churns faintly from your seat in one of the cabins aboard the Friendship Express, the only train in Equestria. >Luckily, the damn thing is powered by the most volatile magic in the kingdom, the Magic of Friendship. >That's why the whole kingdom could use one single train line. >That, and the fact that all the cities here were lined up in a neat little row. >If Celestia had anything to do with the settling of Equestria, she must be OCD. >You'd asked Twilight about the properties of Friendship Magic a few times, but never really understood the answers. >But the logic was solid. Glimmer confirmed it. And when Glimmer said that something worked, it worked. >"Dad! Dad!" Glimmer shakes you from your thoughts. >The pink and purple of her hair invade your vision as you realize that she's practically nose-to-nose with you. "We're almost there!" >Her eyes shimmer in wonder as she beams at you. >Suddenly, an equally-purple muzzle pops into view as Twilight joins your daughter in front of you. "I know! I'm so excited!" >They pull away to sit back on their bench opposite yours to gush. "It's been so long since I went last! I heard from the Princess that they did all kinds of renovations!" >"And there's a whole new exhibit, Mom! All about how the first unicorns learned to harness magic!" >The two mares squee and giggle in unison, "Oh, I just can't wait!" >You can't help but let out a hearty chuckle at their antics. "Girls, girls. I'm just as excited as you are, but you know full well that the museum won't even be open until tomorrow." >The girls' disposition is slightly soured as they both look at you with small pouts. >"Geez, Dad. Way to ruin the moment." >"Yeah, Anon. We were having fun." >You sigh in defeat and boop each one on the nose. "Look, we'll get a good night's rest in the castle and head out first thing in the morning. I guarantee you we'll be the first in line, okay?" >They grin and resume their excitement. >Which continues deep into the night.   >You're awoken by the cold chill of the castle air. >The blanket that had been your stalwart protection again this menace has been eagerly ripped from overtop of you. >Twilight's signature wake-up call. >Only this alarm clock didn't come with a snooze button. >Although, that didn't keep you from trying. "C'mon, Twi. Five more minutes." >You shiver, blinking groggily to un-blur your vision. >A glance out of the window confirms your suspicions. "It isn't even daylight yet." >Unfortunately, mornings like these are something you've come to accept as a part of your life with Twilight. >She was always excited to start the day. >To learn a new spell, experience something new, or organize a new list. >Speaking of lists, the familiar sound of parchment rustles in your ear. >"Now correct me if I'm wrong, Anon, but -you- said that we would get up bright and early so we could be first in line, did you not?" >You groan and roll over, adopting the fetal position in order to garner as much warmth as possible. "So what part about 'bright' got lost in translation?" >Two small hands place themselves at your side as you are shaken once more. "C'mon, Dad! You promised." >You roll back over to see a hopeful Glimmer beckoning you awake. "Alright, honey. Give Daddy a second to get going." >Twilight grins. "Good! We have just enough time to eat, walk over, and get in line two hours early." >She ponders her list, making a check mark. "Glad I accounted for your slow wake-up time in the schedule." >You try to glare at Twilight but only end up laughing, pecking her on the cheek. "You know me best."   >Three hours later, the doors to the museum finally open. >You weren't only the first in line, but the only ponies in line at all. >Surprise, surprise. >Twilight and Glimmer giddily gallop inside, immediately firing off teleportation spells. >Lights flash from one dusty artifact to the next, complimented by a flurry of 'oohs' and 'ahhs'. >"What's this'" and "How interesting's" abound as your wife and daughter tear through the place, digesting the knowledge of these dead objects like nerdy vultures. >With your hands at your hips, you shake your head in mock embarrassment. >Sure they were bookworms, but they were your bookworms. >You take a deep breath and sigh in content, getting ready to play catch-up with your family. >As you start to take a step, a flash in front of you gives you pause. >Glimmer stands with an outstretched hand. "C'mon, Dad! There's so much to see!"
