- >Fluttershy excused herself for abit to prepare a proper and healthy dinner for everyone. You felt abit annoyed. Surely cake for dinner, and cookies, would have been fine for one night.
- >Pinkie smiled at you "So Nonny, how are you enjoying Equestria so far? It's super great isn't it?"
- >It took you a second to process this, given you were asked so abruptly. You responded with a "It's really nice" sort of answer. Pinkie seemed pleased with it.
- >Pinkie hopped down from the chair and looked around. She giggled and asked where she was going to sleep.
- >That was a good question. Even Fluttershy looked over. She seemed abit embarrassed that she forgot to set up a place for Pinkie. She started to think.
- >But of course Pinkie's mind seemed set on overdrive as she hopped onto your bed and bounced abit. "Ooohhh, can I sleep on this bed? It's super soft!"
- >Hold on...that was your bed. You weren't going to let....on second thought. You didn't want to jeopardise your chance for cake....but...you liked your bed....such desperate conflict.
- >Fluttershy however took the charge by simply telling Pinkie the bed was yours. But that sly Pinkie just smiled and hopped and asked if anyo....pony would mind if she shared it for the night then.
- >Share? With a girl? Things were getting more dire by the second as the defense of your bed vs. Pinkie following through to give you cake was intensifying.
- >Fluttershy said it was up to you. Darn, you had hoped she'd atleast have some input on this.
- >Pinkie gave you the biggest smile and said it'd be all kinds of fun. That you and her could play a board game on the bed or tell eachother spooky stories under the blanket using a flashlight.
- >Board games sounded fun...plus, you started to remember how soft, warm, and nuzzly Fluttershy was when you slept with her. Maybe it'd not be so bad. If anything, Pinkie seemed as cuddly as Fluttershy.
- >You tell Pinkie that you'd love to. And made a guess that sleepovers were supposed to work like that anyway.
- >Pinkie agreed, And then asked how EVERYPONY.... is going to fit in one bed.
- >Again a good question. You even naively ask Fluttershy that same question.
- >Fluttershy shook her head, "That...might be too much. Pinkie...I can just set up a bed for you...I don't mind, really"
- >Pinkie just persisted that smile and told her she already has a bed. Well, it seems Pinkie had made her choice.
- >Pinkie started to roll about and nuzzle under the blankets to "test" the comfiness levels of the bed. As she tossed and turned, she happened upon your doll. She smiled at it, picked it up, and presented it to you. "ohhh Nonny! You kept it! I almost thought for sure you may have thrown it out for it being a doll....aaaalllmmooossstt"
- >You smiled nervously, you did think it was girly. But you felt safe with it.
- >She bounced to your side and leaned rather uncomfortably towards you "Sooooooo.....you named her yet?....or him?...hmmmmmm?"
- >Named? You hadn't given the doll one at all. It was abit saddening actually. Your little guardian had naught a name. You frowned and told Pinkie you hadn't yet.
- >"Well, not to worry. I bet when you do name it. It will be a super fantastic name. Unless you have an idea right now?"
- >Do you?
- >"Well, I ummm...had been bouncing a name or two. But I wanna call him Friender!"
- >Fluttershy smiles the moment she hears the name. Pinkie asks with a "why?" that sounds most approving.
- >"Well ummm....it's because I think he fights off evil nightmares...and makes them dead"
- >Fluttershy grimaced, nice sentiment...horrid way of putting it.
- >Pinkie smiled, telling you that's an awesome reason. You can't help but smile, you didn't take notice of Fluttershy's reactions. With her in the kitchen area and all, but you were sure it was all smiles.
- >Pinkie got up and rummaged through a bag. huh...you were sure that bag wasn't there before. She pulled out a big case. Gummy was sitting on top. Looking as derp as he was on stage. "Oh Gummy, there you are! hehe! I thought you were guarding the stage!". The gator just stared and blinked, how eerie.
- >She let the gator off and put the board on the table and opened it. It...was a board game called "Defenders of Equestria".
- >Pinkie explained it was an adventure board game she had found in a shop one day and thought it'd be fun to play with her friends. She explained that Everypony had a character made but Fluttershy, who always seemed to have a reason not to play.
- >You looked at a few sheets. From the looks of it, this "Moonlight Glowstar, Princess Of Magic" pony seemed to be the strongest whatever. Geez, this looked abit too complicated for your liking.
- >"Soooooooo....who wants to play?"
- >Fluttershy seemed to have no interest in playing this particular game. She had finished dinner though and set down plates of food for everyone, including Pinkie, who got a nice fruit salad. And you, who got the usual goodness.
- >You noticed Angel slowly hop out of Fluttershy's room, sniffing the food. So that's where he was.
- >You stare at the board. You slowly look over to Pinkie and ask the risky question of what the rules were. Fluttershy suddenly braced herself.
- >Pinkie suddenly busted out a gigantic rulebook, which she apparantly had memorised anyway, and started to fully explain every detail of the game. Your head was spinning. Combat? Initiative? Death and Revival? Dungeon Masters? what in the?
- >Pinkie kept on, and the more she went, the more complicated it sounded. You wanted to slam your head on the table. Couldn't you just play checkers?
- >Pinkie finally finished and smiled and asked her question again. You just garble words as Fluttershy blinks "ummm...Pinkie...maybe we can play a much nicer game"
- >Pinkie seems unphased by this and says "Okie dokie loki" and replaces the board with a paper. Huh? it was blank.
- >Pinkie's new game seemed much more simplistic, she pulled out a quill and started drawing. Apparantly the game was to guess what the drawing was....hmmm...that sounded familiar.
- >This seemed fun enough, And Fluttershy seemed to want to play this game over the other.
- >And so the game began. And perhaps you shouldn't have agreed. You weren't prepared for either of them to be drawing things like hydras and cerberus, you even felt abit assblasted when you saw Fluttershy drawing a horned pony, yelled "Unicorn", and it turned out to be something called an "Alicorn". You didn't question it's existance, but you did huff angrily. Pinkie gave you abit of a head rub. "Now now Nonny! It's just a game". Fluttershy chimed in aswell, saying it isn't good to get so worked up.
- >You took a deep breath, it wasn't so much losing the point. It was the fact that alicorns seemed abit too......over the top.
- >While Pinkie's drawings were ok, And Fluttershy's was actually quite artsy. Yours were terrible. Looking like chickenscratch and stick figures of basic items and animals. They had alot of trouble figuring a few out. But...atleast they tried instead of telling you to stop altogether.
- >At the end of the game. Fluttershy came out on top with 12 points, Pinkie with 10, and you with 3. Pinkie celebrated Fluttershy's win with applause, you joined in, while in the back of your head, you felt abit cheated. Atleast Fluttershy won atleast.
- >With the game over and dinner finished, Fluttershy gave out a cute yawn and stated she was going to head to bed. She happily told you both you could still stay up, though you had a feeling that was really meant for you. She said goodnight to Pinkie.
- >She then turned to you and gave you that trademark smile. She moved over to you and kissed your forehead, and gave you a hug in which you returned the embrace. "And goodnight to you, my little Anon".
- >You felt warm, if abit embarrassed and chuckled abit. "Mom come on, not infr....."
- >.......
- >There was complete silence, but you felt incredibly awkward, Fluttershy less so, as if she was waiting for it. Pinkie just stared....even Angel was staring.
- >....did...you..?
- >You did, you just completely blurted out calling Fluttershy "Mom".
- >You pulled back immediatly upon this realization.
- >What an idiot you are. She probably thought you were a gigantic idiot. She wasn't your mother, even if you couldn't remember who was. A pony was definitely not your mother. What was supposed to be a casual goodnight turned into a soul shattering experience.
- >Fluttershy murmured abit, and looked around. you could tell she was thinking something. She was probably going to say something like "Anon....I'm not your mother....please don't call me that".
- >It hurt so much, to remind yourself that you were motherless. That this pony infront of you filled that void. And now you screwed up.
- >You immediately try to recover from your error before Fluttershy can speak. But words escape you, you panic, and apologise profusely to her.
- >Fluttershy just turns her head. And asks Pinkie to give you and her some privacy. Pinkie salutes, and does what she asks. She even asks Angel to go, but he's not as compliant. He seems to want to know what's going on, but Fluttershy tells him she'd say in private later. Before Angel can make another protest. Pinkie appeared from the shadows, grabbed him, and disappeared.
- >You were pretty much alone with Fluttershy at this point.....you were getting paranoid.
- >"Anon...."
- >That was enough, you cut her off completely as you burst into tears and hug onto her. You start apologising over and over again. You were afraid, she's never talked to you in private like this. She was going to kick you out, you were going to be alone. You beg her not to kick you out.
- >Fluttershy can feel you shaking pathetically as you hug onto her. Drenching her fur and mane in your tears.
- >She wraps a hoof around you, and gives you a gentle hug. She starts singing a soft lullaby, a song that urges you to stop crying. But you just can't.
- >You slowly let go of her as you fall to your knees and look up at her.Your eyes were puffy, face moist in tears.
- >".....please....say something....please..don't kick me out..."
- >Fluttershy was indeed waiting for a moment like this, ever since you unknowingly called her mom the first time. She had never been reffered to as a mother so directly. And she never took care of a child like this. Ever since that day, she had thought about it. While warm to the idea, she wondered if it was too soon or even right to be called a mother. But she realised how much you truly loved and needed her. You weren't like an animal. You couldn't live in the wild, you couldn't handle yourself, and you always were looking to please and help her. Some parallels to a young colt were also hard to dismiss in terms of personality. You weren't like any animal. You were a child who needed a mother.
- >Fluttershy started to tear up herself, but tried to keep it straight. "I'd never do such a thing Anon, never ever.....no matter what"
- >You didn't understand, you just babbled and cried scared out of your mind. "But....."
- >This time Fluttershy cut you off. "You can call me Mom if you want to....I....really don't mind at all. You can even call me Mommy...Anon...please don't cry, you didn't do anything wrong"
- >oh but you did, you were convinced you did. You fooled yourself into believing Fluttershy was your mother. You replaced a fragmented memory of a mother for Fluttershy. But you had fears that maybe perhaps....you never even had a mom.
- >You wail and sob "No...I-I C-C-Can't!...I'm just....I'm just another animal...I...Invaded your home and...ngh.....ngh". You were trembling, you fell completely to the floor."You...can't..be....my....mom"
- >Fluttershy wrapped around and hugged you, blanketing you with her wings. "Anon...my little Anon...shhhh, it'll be ok"
- >Your cries become less audible, but are as sorrowful as ever. you blindly grasp and cling to Fluttershy. You wanted to feel her, to not feel abandoned.
- >"A mother is somepony who takes care of those most precious to them, and protects them....you're precious to me...and I'll always protect you no matter what. Please don't cry little Anon....I'm right here....I'll always will be"
- >You clasp tighter and nuzzle into her. You weakly cry out "mommy...." "mom-m-my"
- >Fluttershy just holds you, she lays to her side so you could nuzzle onto her chest. She didn't care that the floor was dirty or uncomfortable. You needed her, and she wasn't going to let you suffer.
- >This continued until you cried yourself to sleep. Fluttershy never stopped comforting you. And sung to you until you were lulled into a dreamland.
- >The final words you gave to her were "I love you"
- >She didn't plan on moving. If she had to sleep on the floor for the rest of the night. Then she'd do so.
- >Fluttershy rested the best she could on the ground as she held you. As she laid there, she realised Pinkie was still about.
- >She didn't plan on moving, but she didnt want to yell either for her. She wanted to ask her if she'd mind going for the night.
- >But as time passed, Fluttershy herself fell asleep as Pinkie popped out of her room.
- >She had a feeling perhaps the sleepover was cancelled and it'd be best she'd go. But before leaving. She grabbed Friender and gently put him in your arms, and took a quick snapshot before disappearing into the night, a smile never leaving her face as she came to her own conclusion of what happened.
