- >You would like to think of yourself as a tough, no-nonsense type of girl who can quickly make sense of a bad situation in a pinch
- >You'd like to imagine that you'd be really brave when it counts
- >You like to assume all this, but when the yellow pony showed up in your tree house, you were not ready
- >It was just a month ago that you were minding your own business and reading some great action hero comics in peace
- >Commander Ripgut was always your choice when it came to action
- >You had a rough day at school dealing with the usual politicking of the high-school hierarchy and needed some alone time to unwind
- >As you turned a page, a small voice caught your attention
- >You remember how angry you must have looked and how mean you must have sounded when you thought you had an intruder
- >The memories flit about your head this morning as you brush your teeth
- >You walk carefully to your room and check beside your bed for your pegasi friend
- "Mornin', Flutters."
- >"Oh, good morning, Anonymous. Did you sleep well?"
- "You know it. I am dying to get outside today. We should go for a run in the park and maybe a swim!"
- >Your little friend smiles halfheartedly at you
- >She's always a little nervous when you suggest something, but you eventually get her to warm up to the idea
- >"Well, so long as we don't try diving from the tree like last time..."
- "Hah! Not after breakin' my nose! I ain't stupid."
- >You roll your eyes playfully with her
- >"Oh, but what about your father?"
- "S'all clear! Bum's sleepin' off a hang-over. We can sneak out the backdoor, no problem."
- >Fluttershy mumbles something to herself and you pat her head
- "Don't worry, it'll be a lot of fun. Besides, I bet your wings need a good stretch."
- >"Oh, I guess that would be nice..."
- >You run a hand over her small wing and watch the feathers ruffle under your fingers
- >"A-Anon, stop..."
- >You chuckle as you pet her soft wing
- "A'right, lets get movin'."
- >You tug on Fluttershy's front leg and race to the door
- >Breaking out into the sunshine makes you happy as you leave your home behind
- >You take a light run as you stretch your legs down the paved road and look back to Fluttershy
- >As typical, your friend is falling back a little
- "Come on, Fluttershy! I know ya' can run faster than that!"
- >After a groan, you see Fluttershy racing towards
- >You always like watching her run for some reason
- >Maybe it's the sound of her hooves or maybe you think her protests are cute
- >Whatever it is, you like making her work a little harder
- >"Oh, OK, I'll try harder, Anon."
- >With little effort, Fluttershy is beside you
- >Her hooves tap with the rhythmic clopping you are accustomed to
- >It makes you smile a little as you look over to your friend
- "It's gonna be a lot of fun today. School's over for a little, we can spend a lot more time together!"
- >Fluttershy huffs between breaths
- >"That's lovely... Anon. But... you didn't go... to school... all the time... before."
- "I'd rather spend time with you! Not everyday I get such a cool friend."
- >Fluttershy blushes, either from her jog or your sweet words
- >"Thank you, Anonymous, but you're the kind one."
- >You chitchat a bit until the park comes into view
- >You look over the green grass and tall trees dotting the landscape and smile wildly as you dream of what to do first
- >A tire swing catches your attention and you look to Fluttershy
- "Lets have a go on that first! I could push ya' first, if ya' want?"
- >Fluttershy shakes her head for the moment
- >"T-that's alright, Anon, you go ahead and I'll push you."
- "Oh, come on, you aren't still worried I'll push you too high again? I said I was sorry."
- >"No, no, I insist."
- >You shrug and race to the large tire
- >With a leap and expert timing, you dive into the center and hold onto the outer rim
- >Fluttershy approaches you from behind and warns you she'll be starting
- >A small push sends you rocking in place
- >"How was that? Not too hard, right?"
- "It's OK, you can push it harder if you want."
- >With a small breath, your friend pushes with more strength
- >You swing a bit harder and cheer
- "Higher, Flutters! Higher!"
- >Fluttershy pushes her hooves harder this time and you move effortlessly through the sky
- >You laugh all the way and Fluttershy joins in with a few chuckles of her own
- >Touching down, you slide from the rubber tube and sit on the floor for a moment
- "That was awesome! You want to go next?"
- >"Ah, no thank you. How about we have a relaxing swim?"
- >Fluttershy gestures to the small pond and you nod approvingly
- >You begin rushing towards the pond as you discard your shirt and tighter your small shorts with the pull-string
- >Your shoes slip off just feet from the edge as you dive in carelessly
- >The world filters blue as you sink under the water and look up
- >Fluttershy stands near the edge and dips a hoof in before slowly walking into the water
- >You smile to yourself and decide to be the shark today
- >You watch her four legs kick to keep her afloat as Fluttershy wades about
- >With a strong kick, you propel yourself upward and burst from the water
- "Rarr! I am the vicious, pony-eating shark! I hunger!"
- >Fluttershy gasps quickly before returning a smile
- >"Oh no, not the pony-eating shark. Um, I better swim away before she gets me."
- >Fluttershy slowly paddles away from you before looking back
- >"I'm not going to fast, am I?"
- >You bounce your eyes and laugh
- >Another strong kick sends you sailing towards your would-be snack and you make chomping noises all the while
- >Fluttershy lets go a squeal of mild excitement and picks up her own pace
- "Haha! Run! Run! I hunger!"
- >"Oh my!"
- >You catch up to Fluttershy and, in your fit of hysteria, clamp your mouth onto one side of her cutie mark
- >Fluttershy lets out a shriek and suddenly flies from the water
- >You bob at the surface, laughing like a maniac
- >"Anonymous! Be careful! You play too rough sometimes."
- "I'm only foolin' with you! I didn't leave a mark, did I?
- >Fluttershy looks herself over before she nods to you
- >"No, but you startled me."
- "I'm sorry! I won't do it again, I promise!"
- >Fluttershy touches back down into the water and you let the water suspend you
- >You float happily about as Fluttershy nears you
- "We could just... hangout like this, if you want?"
- >"Oh, that would be lovely."
- >You laugh lightly at your friend
- >Sometime later, you drag yourself from the water and let your tired muscles rest on the bank
- >You look over your wrinkly hands and smile
- >Fluttershy is beside you in no time and you smile to her
- >"I found you shirt, Anon... do you want it?"
- >You look at your black t-shirt and cast it aside
- "The air's nice and I'm really wet still. Besides, no one's around today."
- >"Why do you wear all these clothes all the time?"
- >You stop and think for a moment
- "I don't know... it's what dad says is right... other people wear clothes. We just do it, I guess?"
- >"Where I come from, clothing is only for special occasions."
- "Yeah, but you're a pony. It's fine if you don't wear clothes... I never met a pony with clothes, myself."
- >Fluttershy lays back and the grass and rocks slightly
- "I think it's 'cause you got fur. I ain't got fur no where. See?"
- >You point to your petite frame
- >Fluttershy seems to turn from you as you stare at her
- >"I-I get it, Anon... so... so, you're nude like this?"
- "Nah, I got to take my pants off to be nude!"
- >You smile and slip a thumb into either side of your shorts
- >"P-Please don't..."
- >You twirl your shorts on your sides lightly and tease Fluttershy a bit more
- "We're both girls, right? I ain't got nothin' you never seen."
- >You remove your hands from your sides and Fluttershy sighs
- >Her face burns brightly as she turns back to you
- >You admit that you like teasing her, though you aren't sure why
- >The sun begins setting as the two of you dry off and Fluttershy looks like she has something to say
- >You look her over until she looks back to you
- "You look like ya' got something to say... what's up?"
- >"Oh, nothing... just, the sun reminds me of home. It doesn't set like it does here..."
- "I remember that. You got a princess back home, right? Super magic or something."
- >"Yes, Princess Celestia sets the sun and raises it everyday. She's the kindest and wisest princess in the whole land!"
- "Neat... well, you're the only magical pony I ever saw."
- >You snuggle up close to her and wrap a hand around her body
- "I'm glad you ended up in my tree house... Now, I don't tell just anybody this, but before you came around, life was kind'a boring."
- >Fluttershy smiles easily as you speak
- "Yeah, I don't have lots 'a friends. No one really wants to hang out..."
- >"It's fine, Anon. I think you're great... You kind of remind me of a friend back home."
- "Was she as -awesome- as me?"
- >Fluttershy looks you over and giggles
- >"Oh, I think you two would get along really well. She's probably even more competitive than you."
- >You nod your hand in serious thought
- "Well, you know... I don't have to stay here..."
- >"What about your father?"
- "What about him? No good lay-about! He don't even know I exist some days."
- >Fluttershy's face sinks a bit as the truth in your words catches on
- >"I am not even certain how I got here. If I figure out how to get home, I'd be sure to let you visit."
- "Are there lots of ponies like you?"
- >"I... I think so. I have a lot of wonderful friends."
- "Any friend of yours is a friend of mine!"
- >You hold Fluttershy a little tighter as you think about getting away from all of this
- >The sun drops under the horizon as you two talk
- >You gather up your clothes and dress quickly
- "Well, better head home... want to sleep in the tree house tonight? I still got s'mores up there from last night!"
- >"Sure, Anon..."
- "And we could tell spooky stories!"
- >"Um... not too spooky, OK?"
- >You nudge Fluttershy's rump with your own
- "OK, no spooky stories tonight. How about you tell me more about Equestria? I like hearing about all the cool stuff you do."
- >"Oh, it's not -that- cool. Mostly, I just tend to my little animal friends..."
- >Fluttershy mumbles something you can't quite understand
- "So, what's your friend's name who you think is like me?"
- >"Rainbow Dash. We've been friends since flight school."
- "Cool, flight school sounds awesome!"
- >"Oh... um, a little, but flying can be scary sometimes."
- >You hold her wing lightly
- "Was Rainbow Dash around for you?"
- >"Yes, almost always! She's just so nice to me. She even defended me from bullies."
- "She sounds brave! It must be nice to have friends like that..."
- >You imagine it for the moment before swallowing a lump in your throat
- >You could probably have friends like that too, they just have to learn that you are strong and do this from the front
- >A leader, you think, and they would admire you for being the best at everything!
- >You whisper to yourself
- "Yeah, that's how to make friends... it worked with her..."
- >"Hey, Anon? Who are you talking to?"
- >You snap back to reality
- "Uh, no one... myself! Just thinking out loud..."
- >You see your crummy house in the distance
- >The small house has a lot of weather damage on the outside from years of neglect
- >A pile of bottles glistens from an overfilled trash can
- >The roof dips to one side waiting for another good windstorm to tear it off once and for all
- >It is a dump, but you suppose it's your dump
- >You walk through a rickety, face with a busted lock and hinge and grant Fluttershy access to the backyard
- "I'll be right up, just go make yourself comfy."
- >She nods and flies up to the entrance
- >You feel a moment of jealousy wash over you
- >If you had wings, you could just fly away too
- >You take a moment to peer into the window and see a lump of person sitting on a couch
- >There he is again, just sitting around watching the TV and being useless
- >You bet he didn't even make dinner... again
- >A sigh escapes you as you think about Fluttershy's home
- >The world sounds green and the ponies sound so friendly
- >You bet ponies cook their daughter dinner every night and kiss them on the head before bed
- >Holding back frustrated feelings, you proceed up the rope ladder
- >You behold Fluttershy peaking from a window as you crawl over the ledge and onto the platform
- >"Is.. is your father awake?"
- "Who cares?"
- >You turn your face to one side
- >You care...
- >"Um... I made you a s'more... you know, in case you were hungry?"
- >You take the small plate from Fluttershy and admire the craftsmanship
- >It confounds you how accurately she makes these when she doesn't even have hands
- "Thanks... you're the best, Fluttershy."
- >She blushes a little before eating her own treat
- >You can't imagine s'mores for three nights in a row is healthy anymore, but you eat from the hunger of the day
- >You look over to Fluttershy and see a bit of chocolate is smeared over her face
- >With a smile, you quickly brush a finger over her cheek and clean it off in your mouth
- >"Than' oo'."
- "No prob'em."
- >You hold up your fingers in a circle with the last three pointing out and smile
- >Fluttershy presses her face close to your own and licks at your cheek
- >"Had a spo'd oo'."
- >You both giggle with your mouth's full of sticky marshmallow
- >The night burns on as you roll on your back next to you best friend in the whole world
- >You sigh as you look over to her
- >She just understands you so well and you don't think you could ever ask for more
- >Fluttershy yawns once before excusing herself and relaxes on her back
- >You take the opening to snuggle close to her
- >She doesn't seem to mind as you lay against her warm body
- >She smells like honeysuckles and clouds and you giggle lightly
- "Hey, Flutters..."
- >"Yes, Anon?"
- "I want to tell you something... but, it's a secret and you can't tell anyone, OK?"
- >"OK, I won't..."
- "You're like the best sister I never had... I... I love you, Fluttershy."
- >A hoof rests on your back and gently strokes you
- >"That's a good secret, Anon, I promise I'll keep it forever."
- >You feel happy that Fluttershy accepts you and find yourself with misty eyes
- >That was really hard to say, you think, but you know you are brave when it counts
