Backstory: Tenebris is the bastard offspring sired by the father of King Sombra who was himself the former king. Tenebris in his youth distinguished himself as a scholar of the mysteries but he was also known as a great warrior who struck arcane fear into the enemies of the Empire. After his father died, his younger unicorn brother Sombra took the throne of the Crystal Empire and early in his reign banished Tenebris to a sealed tower in the distant crystal mountains. There Tenebris wasted away in bitter solitude, and he swore revenge on his brother for his arrogance. The years went by and eventually Tenebris came to fear that his life would end before his could escape his prison. He decided to undergo a transformation that would preserve his form indefinitely, but it required an unspeakable price to be paid. Prolonging his existence did not alleviate his condition and he began to go mad as the years became decades, and the decades became centuries. One day by happenstance, his salvation came and he escaped his tower prison. It was then Tenebris set out to fulfill his promise of revenge, but he soon discovered that the world outside had changed drastically in the last millennium.
