Traits:

One night while campiagning in the north, Cratus and his Cohort captured a small band of Griffon Warriors. All but one of them were taken alive. He guarded the injured captive through the night and learned of her past and homeland. After a few days he had become smitten with the captive griffon named Kyra. When he learned of what was to become of her he resolved to rescue her from a life of bondage. One of his comrades in arms learned of the plan and reported it to his commanding officer. Cratus was captured along with Kyra. Kyra was promptly executed before Cratus's eyes and as punishment for his treachery Cratus himself was branded a slave and sent to the city of Veneficum to fight as a gladiator for the cruel Sorceror-Lord's amusement.  After years of fighting in the pit, he was visited by the ghost of his dead love who showed him the way to freedom. Cratus promised to his dead love that he would free the other slaves as he tried to free her.
