  1. >Some judicious floating kept you from waking Twilight and Spike as you re-entered the library in the dead of night.
  2. >You are Anon Ymous of Rann.
  3. >A Green Lantern.
  4. >And you've just heard an incredible tale.
  5. >Lyra Heartstrings, a resident of Ponyville, spent a number of years as a space pirate after being abducted via Boom Tube.
  6. >After the life wore on her, she returned to Equestria...apparently by the same method.
  7. >'Some New Genesis guys owed me a favor'.
  8. >You didn't ask what favor the New Gods could owe a space pirate.
  9. >You didn't really want to know.
  10. >You worked hard to put these thoughts out of your mind as you desperately tried to sleep.
  11. >After all, you had a big day tomorrow.
  12.
  13. THE NEXT DAY
  14.
  15. >"Well, here it is!  The city of Canterlot!"
  16. >Canterlot...as it was called...was an impossible city
  17. >It was built into the side of a mountain.
  18. >That's inaccurate, it was built ON the side of a mountain.
  19. >By all the laws of physics that you knew, this city should not be able to exist.
  20. >Had you not remembered that this world ran on "magic", you'd have probably have gone mad by now.
  21. >Though if we were honest, the things you've seen and experianced these past few days may have driven you mad already.
  22. >"Listen," said Twilight, "you need to be careful when you're talking to the Princess.  She's not only the ruler of Equestria, she's my mentor and a close friend!  So show her some respect!"
  23. Ms. Sparkle, I promise to be on my best behavior.
  24. >Your sarcasm does not endear you to the purple unicorn.
  25. >Your thoughts turned to this supreme ruler.
  26. >This pony with the power to raise the sun.
  27. >Who for some reason decided only to title herself, "Princess".
  28. >What kind of person was she?
  29.
  30. CANTERLOT CASTLE THRONE ROOM
  31.
  32. >You are the sun.
  33. >You are the supreme monarch.
  34. >You are immortal.
  35. >You are Celestia.
  36. >Princess.
  37. >Regent of Equestria.
  38. >Protector of the Realm.
  39. >A god unto ponies.
  40. >And you were not happy.
  41. >Your mood first soured when your most beloved student sent you a letter informing you about...him.
  42. >She had conducted an extensive interview, and has subsequently kept you updated on his activities since his arrival.
  43. >He...claims his arrival is accidental.
  44. >But you know better.
  45. >You know how THEY operate.
  46. >You thought that this world was protected.
  47. >Hidden.
  48. >In your wiser moments, you've wondered if the protection, in it's ancient glory, would not develop cracks and weaknesses over time.
  49. >If this visitor was the herald of what you thought he was, then you'd only have yourself to blame.
  50. >But you did not know fear.
  51. >Your ponies were kind...but they were also strong.
  52. >Their bonds would hold them together, even in the face of Armageddon.
  53. >And that would be the strength that kept Equestria from joining the forgotten zone.
  54. >So you would meet this visitor, be he spy, assassin or messenger.
  55. >And you would show those blue monsters that you would not be as easy prey as the rest of your people.
  56. >That you would not go quietly into the night.
  57. >That monsters who would dare name themselves the guardians of the universe will face justice...
  58. >...and pay for the crimes that they have committed!
  59.
  60. THE ENTRANCE TO THE THRONE ROOM
  61.
  62. >The Guards escort you and Twilight through massive double doors into the pure-white hall.
  63. >And there she was.
  64. >With a coat of pure white.
  65. >Twice as large as any pony you've seen on this world....
  66. >With a wingspan and horn to match...
  67. >With a sparkling, tri-color, mane.
  68. >There sat Equestria's Ruler, Princess Celestia.
  69. >You gulped.
  70. >Even as she smiled at you pleasantly, and greeted her pupil who ran forward to embrace her...
  71. >...Celestia was an intimidating sight.
  72. >She defiantly had a beauty to her.
  73. >The same kind of beauty that stars possessed.
  74. >Giant, nuclear death furnaces that they were.
  75. >You had NO idea what was setting this off in your brain.
  76. >It's like she had this...aura...that was causing a thousand alarms to chime endlessly in your mind.
  77. >Were it not for this feeling, you would probably view Celestia as the sacharine queen of a sacharine kingdom.
  78. >But no...no there was more this mare than meets the eye.
  79. >You knew it.
  80. >And that terrified you.
  81. >"Twilight," she said, her voice like a gentle melody, "it is so good to see you!"
  82. >"And you Princess!  I haven't seen you since the wedding!  How are Shining and Cadence?"
  83. >"Still on their honeymoon, but we expect them back within' a week or so."
  84. >You can't help but notice that during this exchange, Celestia's eyes have never left you.
  85. >This did not help dissipate your paranoia.
  86. >"So this," Celestia continued, "I take it, is our esteemed guest?"
  87. >"Oh, yes, it is!  Princess Celestia, meet Anon Ymous, he's from a planet called Rann, and he happens to be a Green Lantern, a protector of justice and peace in the cosmos!"
  88. >There was so much cheese in that statement that it could turn you lactose intolerant.
  89. >"I see," she continues to eye you, by the Source, WHY?!, "I understand, Mr. Ymous, that you saved Fluttershy's life the other day?"
  90. Actually, y-your highness, that honor belongs to the one called Rainbow Dash...I tried to help, but my nerve...failed me...
  91. >[That's your best cover story?]
  92. >Quiet you.
  93. >"I see..."
  94. >She continues to look you up and down.
  95. >Twilight looks nervous, she knows something is off.
  96. >"Twilight..."
  97. >"Yes Princess?"
  98. >"Can you leave the room, me and Mr. Ymous has several things to discuss regarding both where he comes from and why he's here."
  99. >"I-I understand Princess, but why-"
  100. >"Please Twilight, I want a chance to speak with Mr. Ymous myself, and I wish him to answer me honestly and clearly, and maybe hope to bond with him, much like you did.  And therefore I wish to conduct this interview by myself."
  101. >Twilight looks worried, "I-I see Princess, I'll...just...wait outside."
  102. >Twilight backs out of the throne room.
  103. >"I'm afraid that this also applies to you as well, my guards."
  104. >"Your grace!" a Guard replies in surprise, "I'm not sure I can condone the wisdom of leaving you alone with this-this THING, I must pro-"
  105. >"Guard, please, I'll be fine.  I just want Anon to be comfortable.  Can't have him do that guards breathing down his neck, can I?"
  106. >"Yes...your grace."
  107. >The guards bow and obey.
  108. >Leaving you alone in a room with a sun avatar.
  109. >Celestia's Horn Glows.
  110. >"Please, Anon, have a seat."
  111. >A chair appears out of nowhere and you sit in it.
  112. >Celestia remains standing and begins to pace about her throne room.
  113. >"So tell me, Anon, why did you come to Equestria?"
  114. I didn't come here intentionally, I crash landed here after I was struck by a solar flare.
  115. >"I see, and when you recovered, did you that your crash landing had damaged a populated area?  Or caused a major disturbance?"
  116. No...Princess...the field I crashed into was vacant.
  117. >"I see, so tell me Anon, when you crashed, and discovered that your landing had no impact of signifigance on this world, why didn't you just fly back into space and be on your merry way?"
  118. >This line of questioning came off to you as quite hostile.
  119. >But as you weren't sure if you could take the Princess or not...you rolled with it.
  120. I-I tried too, but I encountered a gravametric barrier of some sort in your upper atmosphere, it prevented me from leaving.
  121. >"I see," said Celestia, a low chuckle emanating from her voice, "the gift of my ancestors seems to have once again kept this world safe."

  124.
  125. >Celestia's horn glows again.
  126. >Cuff's appear on you chair, binding your hands and legs to the seat.
  127. >And, quite suddenly, it feels as if a vise has closed on your neck.
  128. >Celestia turns to you, fire in her eyes.
  129. >"Tell me, Guardian's dog, what did your Oan Masters tell you about me?  That I was a demon?  An outdated monster from a bygone age of terror wrought on countless galaxies?  Or were they honest?  Did they admit to you their atrocity, their mistake in the trust of machines?"
  130. >She advances upon you menacingly.
  131. >"Did they you what they did to those of us left?  That they sealed all the magic in the universe that they could find out of fear.  That they took the survivors and bound their forms on Ysmalut?!  Claiming that they posed a danger to the civilized universe?!  Did they tell you how my mother, sister, and I fled and hid here?  Afraid of their advance and their wrath?!"
  132. >She's inches from your face, you want to respond, but you can't.
  133. >Her wrath burns with blood and rage of crimson red.
  134. >"They sent you here to silence me, didn't they?  The last of the mighty Empire of Tears, hiding in the void from blue madmen who slaughter entire galaxies and then try to hide their mistakes like a child who has wet their bed!  So what are you waiting for, Anon of the Green Lantern Corps?  Dog of the Oans!  Try your hand!  See if you can Slay She Who is of the Sun!  I AM CELESTIA AND I WILL NOT RUN!"
  135. >Celestia cackles madly as her mane becomes as a solar flare, and all you can do is watch in fear.
