>It's time to raise the sun.
>Ugh.
>Everyone always has this misconception that I actually enjoy this job.
>Even my sister doesn't know how much I detest my duties, even though she has very similar ones.
>Getting out of bed, I trot to the large opening stained-glass window overlooking the kingdom.
>My kingdom.
>As my sister lowers her celestial power from the balcony, I begin the ritual.
>Get my stance, look to the sky, and use my magic to raise the large ball of burning gas into the air.
>The sun washes the land in majestic light, sending hues of orange and gold across the dew covered fields.
>The light begins to uncover the small towns and farms scattered across the land.
>Ponyville, Trotingham, Fillydelphia, etc.
>My gaze is caught by a large spot in the sky, almost bird like.
>As it comes closer, I can make out small details and colors.
>Behind it, more dark patches in the sky begin to show, covering almost the entire horizon with feathers.
"What the hell is going on?"
>I dash out of my chambers, only to run into Luna.
"Luna! What is going on outside?"
>My sister looks scared, terrified even.
>"I-i don't know! I was lowering the moon and I saw them!"
>She begins to panic.
"Sister, what are 'They'?"
>"I think they are giant eagles!"
>She begins to gallop away, stomping her hooves to get the guards attention.
"Sister! Come back!"
>But it's no use, she won't stop running.
>Calm yourself, I say to myself.
>I trot outside the front doors, hoping to get a better view by taking to the air.
>I spread my wings, only to be knocked aside by a large wing.
>I am thrown sideways into the castle wall.
>My head is still spinning as I steady myself.
>Looking up, I can see 3 large birds of predation attacking the castle.
>They are throwing guards off of watch towers who are trying to blast the birds with their magic, but to no avail.
"No!"
>I spread my wings again, this time launching into the air towards one of the birds who is pecking its way through my sisters bedroom.
>"Sister! Help!"
>She's yelling my name, crying out for assistance.
>Using all my might, I blast the bird with magic, knocking the eagle off the castle.
>I reach my sister's room just in time to see the room crumble above her, dumping tons of stone onto her.
>She tries to fly away before the stones hit, but her wing is caught under a piece of ruble.
>Trapping her.
>Her screams off pain are silenced after the dust clears.
>Tears form in my eyes.
"N-no. Sister! Nooo!"
>My body is shaking.
>I can't control myself.
>My sister. My only family left.
>Gone.
>Between my sobs, I have time to notice the chaos unfolding around me.
>The large birds continue to ravage both the castle as well as the rest of the land.
"You bird bastards! You killed my sister!"
>The line echos in the valleys below, amplifying my voice.
>The birds who were attacking the castle turn to look in my direction.
>One of them swoops down at me, using it's large wings to buffet me with wind.
>Screaming with rage, I too take to the air, Smashing the bird with a magic blast that knocks it to the ground, leaving it motionless.
>More birds show up, rallying to the cries of others.
>They know I'm a threat.
>They called for reinforcements.
>My rage-fueled fight lasts for as long as I can handle it.
>Soon my rage dissipates into sorrow and mourning over my lost sister.
>My shots become sloppy and weak, and the birds know I am losing it.
>One of them hits me with a wing, sending my spiraling downwards to the ground.
>With no strength to right myself, I know I am about to die.
>My last thoughts, my last memories.
>Fighting a flock of large predatory birds.
>Tears fly out of my eyes as time seems to slow down.
>I can see myself falling.
"Twilight...I'm sorry."
>Equestria's only hope is the elements.
>Twilight won't fail.
>Right?
>Then, It's all over.
>Nothing.
>Friendship was magic...
