  1. >Up bright and early the next day
  2. >You can hear AppleJack banging around in the kitchen
  3. >You sit up and rub your eyes
  4. >What were you going to do today?
  5. >Oh yeah
  6. >You need a job
  7. >You run your hand over your face
  8. >oof
  9. >If you're gonna get a job, you need to be presentable
  10. >You grab your glasses
  11. >then don your clothing
  12. >you put on your holster and knife
  13. >Thus fortified, you press onwards into the kitchen
  14. >AppleJack is cooking
  15. Hey AppleJack...
  16. >"Yeah?"
  17. Do you have a razor?
  18. >She frowns
  19. >"Can't say that ah do.  Whut do ya need one for?"
  20. Shaving.  I'm going to take a shower, if that's alright
  21. >"Sure"
  22. >And so you walk down the hall and into the bathroom
  23. >You have to kneel to get under the shower head
  24. >but you persevere
  25. >The hot water feels wonderful running down your less than immaculate frame
  26. >After the shower, you towel off
  27. >The towels are surprisingly large, for ponies
  28. >Guess it must have something to do with being covered in fur
  29. >With no razor, you're forced to take drastic measures
  30. >You kneel down in front of the sink, and pull out your knife
  31. >You saw this in a movie once...
  32.
  33.
  34. >Well, that had mixed success
  35. >Your face is more or less shaved, at the cost of a few nicks
  36. >This will have to do until you can find a razor in town somewhere
  37. >And to do that, you need bits
  38. >Which brings you full circle to the issue at hand
  39. >You don your clothing and head into the kitchen
  40. >By now, AppleJack has breakfast cooked
  41. >It's hashbrowns and toast
  42. >And some fruit, like oranges, bananas...
  43. >And apples
  44. >You're gonna need to find some protein soon
  45. >For now though, you're alright
  46. >Neither of you talk much
  47. >She seems to be about as good with mornings as you are
  48. Care for a ride to town again?
  49. >"Ah'd love one"
  50. >She pauses and waits for you to don your gear
  51. >As you both walk out to your truck, you spy a yellow speck approaching from the woods
  52. >Well shit
  53. >For all you know, it's another homicidal pegasus
  54. >You lower yourself into a crouch and prepare for the worst
  55. >AppleJack notices your change in posture and turns to look
  56. >"That's just Fluttershy.  Nothing to be scared of"
  57. >AppleJack hasn't lied to you before
  58. >So you trust her and resume your standing position
  59. >The approaching speck resolves itself into a yellow pegasus with a pink mane
  60.
  61.
  62. >As it closes, it quails a bit at the sight of you
  63. >It looks ready to fly off at any moment
  64. >"Um, you're... you're Anonymous... Right?"
  65. >Oh man
  66. >This has got to be the most timid person-pony-anything you've ever met
  67. >Such a quiet voice
  68. >As you scrutinize her, she tries to hide behind her mane
  69. >The sight impacts dangerously close to your heart
  70. Yeah?
  71. >She gives a small "eep!" at the sound of your voice
  72. >But manages to continue
  73. >"I really, really need your help!"
  74. >She seems determined
  75. >This must be important
  76. >You instantly forget your plans for the day
  77. Well let's go then!  Lead the way!
  78. >You open the passenger door of your truck
  79. Care to join us, AppleJack?
  80. >"Sure!"
  81. >She hops inside the truck
  82. >You jump in yourself and jam the key in the ignition
  83. >The rumble of the engine catches Fluttershy off her guard and she runs off in fear
  84. >Well, this isn't going to be easy
  85. >You shut the truck off, hop out and approach her
  86. Fluttershy, it's alright.  It's just my truck.  Here, hop in
  87. >You say in a softer voice
  88. >You open the door and beckon her inside
  89. >She hops in and settles herself next to AppleJack
  90. >Still looks a little apprehensive though
  91. >You jump in and close the door once more
  92. Now, can you point where we need to go?
  93. >She nods and points off into the distance
  94. >You start the truck and rumble off
  95.
  96.
  97. >After a few minutes, you find yourself on the edge of the forest
  98. >In front of a small cottage
  99. >The thing was surrounded by wildlife
  100. >Even moreso than usual for a forest
  101. >That is, until you drove up in your truck
  102. >They all scattered pretty fast after that
  103. Is this it?
  104. >She nods in the affirmative
  105. >You shut the truck off and open the driver side door
  106. >Exiting, you hold the door open while the two p0nies jump down
  107. >"Um, if you would follow me..."
  108. Sure
  109. >Fluttershy leads the two of you around the side of the cottage at a rapid pace
  110. >Behind it a plethora of bird feeders and houses sprout from the ground like a bizarre plant
  111. >This isn't what catches your attention though
  112. >Across the yard lays a moose
  113. >It's smaller than any moose you've ever seen
  114. >Standing, it might be as tall as your belly button
  115. >But it's not standing now
  116. >Its front leg is laying at an unnatural angle
  117. >Across the clearing you go, following the anxious Fluttershy
  118. >The moose bellows when you come into sight and makes as if to get up
  119. >But Fluttershy coos to it, and it soon settles back onto the ground
  120.
  121.
  122. >"He... He dislocated his shoulder"
  123. >"I um... I don't have the strength..."
  124. >Right
  125. >So she wants you to pop its shoulder back in place
  126. >You pick up a fairly thick stick on your way over
  127. He can understand you, right?
  128. >She nods
  129. Tell him to bite down on this
  130. >You hand her the stick
  131. >She takes it in her mouth, then gives it to the moose
  132. >You kneel next to the moose and consider your situation
  133. >You know how to do this
  134. >Theoretically
  135. >For a human
  136. >AppleJack stands next to you
  137. I'm going to need your help
  138. >"Ahl right, show me"
  139. >You make a motion, and look over at Fluttershy
  140. Like this?
  141. >"Yes... yes, that will work..."
  142. >You grit your teeth
  143. This is gonna hurt for just a second
  144. >The moose's eyes widen
  145. >He knows what's coming
  146. >You carefully take hold of his leg
  147. >And wait for AppleJack to get into position
  148. On 3
  149. 1
  150. 2
  151. 3
  152. >You both yank upward on the leg
  153. >The joint relocates with an audible POP
  154. >The moose emits a muffled bellow
  155. Is there anything else?
  156. >"He um, he needs to go in the stable, y'know.  If that's okay"
  157. >She indicates a small building next to the house
  158.
  159.
  160. >Well, onwards to glory
  161. >You hop over to the other side of the moose
  162. >He's a hell of a lot heavier than Applebloom
  163. >But with your help, he's able to stand
  164. >You support him as he limps into the stable and settles into a hay pile
  165. >That accomplished, you step back and dust yourself off
  166. >"Thank you"
  167. >You turn around to Fluttershy
  168. >She is once again hiding behind her mane
  169. >Must be a common thing for her
  170. You must be Fluttershy
  171. >She nods
  172. It's a pleasure to meet you.
  173. How did you know about me?
  174. >"Rainbow Dash mentioned you... when she um, she was visiting yesterday"
  175. Why didn't you get one of the unicorns instead?
  176. >She shrugs a bit
  177. >"You were closer"
  178. Well Fluttershy, unless there's anything else
  179. >She shakes her head
  180. Then I'll get out of your... mane
  181. >And with that, you turn around and head back to your truck
  182. >AppleJack joins you, and soon enough you're rumbling towards town
  183.
  184.
  185. >As you drive towards town, it resumes snowing
  186. >AppleJack pipes up
  187. >"Fluttershy's a good pony, she's just a mite shy"
  188. >That's one way of putting it
  189. >You nod
  190. >A few minutes pass
  191. >Then, a thought strikes you
  192. >Applejack has to have some sort of job, right?
  193. >It's a long shot, but you think you'll get further with her than you will asking random ponies on the street if they need work done
  194. Hey AppleJack
  195. >"Yeah?"
  196. Do you have a winter job?
  197. >"Ah sure do!  Me and mah brother, Big Macintosh, keep the streets clear of snow"
  198. >"Along with several other ponies o'course"
  199. Do you think I could help out?  If I'm going to live in your house, I need to contribute
  200. >Applejack nods in approval
  201. >"Well ah don't rightly know.  Yall would have to talk to the mayor"
  202. How do you clear snow here, anyway?
  203. >"Ah can show ya when we get to town"
  204.
  205.
  206. >The rest of the ride into town passes in silence
  207. >Applejack directs you to a rather large building near the center of town
  208. >You park in front
  209. >This must be the town hall
  210. >She leads you to a smaller extension and opens the sliding door
  211. >Inside are several pony sized plows
  212. >Two wheels in the back link to a broad, flat blade in the front
  213. >The entire affair is covered by an awning that rises from the rear wheels
  214. >AppleJack enters the shed ahead of you and approaches one of them
  215. >As you watch, she hops inside and begins pushing
  216. >She exits the shed and clears a path
  217. >Not the most efficient design
  218. >But it looks like it fills the needs of these ponies
  219. >She makes a circle around your truck and comes back
  220. >"So how do ya'll clear snow where ya come from?"
  221. >In response, you open the tailgate of your truck and remove your shovel
  222. >The blade is as large as the blade on her plow
  223. >You quickly make a path from the storage area to the front door of the town hall
  224. >Well, this looks good
  225. >You go quite a bit faster than the pony plow does
  226. >"Ah think ya could get the job; 'specially after ol' One Eye retired"
  227. >"Let's go ask the mayor"
  228.
  229.
  230. >So saying, she leads you inside the town hall proper
  231. >There are a few chairs
  232. >two doors set into the far wall
  233. >And end tables with what look like magazines on them
  234. >In front of the doors a pony in horn rimmed glasses sits at a desk
  235. >She looks bored out of her skull
  236. >She glances up at the sound of the door opening
  237. >Her look quickly changes to one of surprise and terror
  238. >"We'd like to see the mayor, if that's alright"
  239. >"da-daa-da-da-daaaaaaaaaa"
  240. I'll take that as a yes
  241. >You walk down the hall and past the stuttering secretary
  242. >And knock swiftly on the door with the "Mayor's office" Plaque above it
  243. >"Come in!" You hear from behind the door
  244. >You push the door open from the side
  245. Ladies first
  246. >AppleJack trots through the door
  247. >"Miss Mayor, ah have a friend who would like to work for the town"
  248. >A faintly bored sounding voice responds
  249. >"Well, I'll have to meet them first"
  250. >You decide this is your time
  251. >And crouch through the door
  252. >The mayor is a light brown pony with a grayish mane and tail
  253. >She wears a dress collar with green ruff, and a pair of rimless glasses
  254. >She has a scroll on her flank
  255. >Her jaw drops as you stand to your full height
  256. >"Miss Mayor, this is Anonymous.  He would like to fill in for ol' One Eye"
  257. Indeed.  Pleased to meet you, Miss Mayor
  258. >The mayor goggles at you
  259. >"Well, uhhhhh"
  260. >She shakes her head and composes herself
  261. >"You certainly look sturdy enough..."
  262. >"But I'll have to see you in action before I can hire you"
  263. Sure
  264. >You turn around and step back through the door
  265.
  266.
  267. >The secretary has stopped making noise now
  268. >She just sort of... sits there
  269. >You wave your hand in front of her eyes
  270. >No response
  271. Does this happen often?
  272. >"No, but then we don't often get ponies of your stature.  I'm sure she'll snap out of it in a bit"
  273. >Leaving the staring secretary, you exit the building with AppleJack and Mayor in tow
  274. >You pick up your shovel and resume snow clearing
  275. >This time you clear the base of the steps, and start a path off towards an adjacent building
  276. >When you get about 20 feet from the building, the Mayor pipes up
  277. >"That's quite enough.  You're hired!"
  278. >That's it?
  279. >That's all you have to do?
  280. >Well shit
  281. >That was easier than you expected
  282. >"AppleJack will show you the ropes"
  283. Thanks, miss Mayor
  284. >"You can start tomorrow.  Have a nice day now!"
  285. >She turns around and re enters the town hall
  286. >You look at AppleJack
  287. Well, that was easy
  288. >"She was mighty quick to hire ya..."
  289. >"But ah'm not complainin'.  It'll be nice to have another hard worker on the team"
  290. >Well, now you're stuck
  291. >You've accomplished your objective for today
  292. >And you've still got half of it to go
  293. >You could go back to the farm
  294. >Or go say hello to Applebloom, wherever she is
  295. >Maybe you could answer more of Twilight's questions...
  296. >Your rumbling stomach interrupts your thoughts
  297. >Guess that settles that
  298. Know anywhere good to eat?
  299. >"Sure.  Ah know just the place"
  300.
  301.
  302. >AppleJack lead you to a small restaurant
  303. >The food was filling, and you even got some beans
  304. >Gotta get protein wherever you can
  305. >After you finish lunch, AppleJack leaves
  306. >She has some shopping to do
  307. >The rest of the day stretches before you
  308. >Filled with endless possibilities
  309. >You jingle your keys in thought
  310. >Oh, right
  311. >Something else you meant to address today
  312. >If Twilight could replicate bullets
  313. >Could she replicate gas, or oil?
  314. >You had filled the tanks in your truck before you came here
  315. >So it could do another few hundred miles
  316. >But you really would rather have it functional
  317. >Never know when a good truck can come in handy
  318. >Your course of action settled, you head back to the truck
  319. >And drive it over to Twilight's
  320.
  321.
  322. >You knock once more on the door to the housebrary
  323. >Spike opens it this time
  324. >And he doesn't even flinch
  325. >Good
  326. >You aren't sure you can live here if everyone is scared of you
  327. Is Twilight available?
  328. >"She's working in her lab, but I'm sure she won't mind a visit from you"
  329. >So saying, he steps aside and allows you to enter
  330. >You don't expect to be here long, so you just stomp the snow out of your boots
  331. >Spike motions for you to follow him
  332. >He leads you through another door, and down a flight of stairs
  333. >Through the archway, you see a proper scientific abode
  334. >Beakers and tubes everywhere
  335. >Along with vials and jars of mysterious substances
  336. >Twilight stands in front of a large table covered in bunsen burners and a jumbled array of tubing and beakers
  337. >She's wearing what appears to be a lab coat
  338. >"Twilight, you've got a visitor"
  339. >She looks up, irritated
  340. >"Spike, can't you see I'm in the m-"
  341. >Her expression quickly changes at the sight of you
  342. >"Anonymous, good to see you!  I had a few more questions, if you don't mind..."
  343. >She says as she shuts off various burners, stoppers bottles and removes the lab coat
  344. I'd love to answer your questions, but first I have something I was hoping you could help me with...
  345. >Her curiosity is piqued
  346. >"Of course"
  347. >You glance around
  348. >Then you grab a length of tubing and two bottles
  349. Mind if I borrow these?
  350. >"Go ahead"
  351. >You turn around and head back up the stairs
  352. >Both Twilight and Spike follow you up, then out of the house
  353.
  354.
  355. You've seen my truck run, and I have no doubt you're bursting with questions
  356. >She nods
  357. I will answer them to the best of my ability, but first I must show you something
  358. >You remove your gloves and open the fuel cap cover on the left tank
  359. >Then you unscrew the fuel cap and feed the tubing down the fueling pipe
  360. >Using your mouth, you start a siphon
  361. >You put a little gas in one bottle, and fill the other completely
  362. >That accomplished, you stopper the bottles and drain the remaining gas in the tube back into the tank
  363. All of the noise, all of the power and speed...
  364. >You hold the full bottle up to the sun for them to see
  365. All thanks to this
  366. >As you set the nearly empty bottle on the ground and open it, you narrate
  367. This is gasoline
  368. >You remove a rod from the truck bed and attach a rag to the end
  369. It is extremely flammable
  370. >You draw your lighter and light the rag
  371. And without it
  372. >You reach out and touch the flames to the top of the bottle
  373. My truck cannot function
  374. >The fumes in the bottle ignite and produce a large jet of flame
  375. >"Woooooaaaahhh"
  376. >This from Spike
  377. >You guess dragons would have an appreciation for fire
  378. >It lasts for around 30 seconds before petering out
  379. >You stick the rod into a nearby snowbank, extinguishing it
  380. Do you think you could replicate it?
  381. >"Hmmmmm"
  382. >Twilight sits down in concentration
  383. >"I might be able to modify a transmutation spell"
  384. >"Could I see that?"
  385. Certainly.  I only request you take care not to drop it
  386. >"You hold out the full bottle and she takes it with her magic
  387. >The front door to the housbrary opens, and a similar bottle floats through
  388. >Holding the two in front of her, her horn once again begins to glow
  389. >The aura around the two bottles intensifies
  390. >As quickly as it came, the glow recedes
  391. >The bottle from the house floats over to you
  392. >You take it from her magical grasp
  393. >It's warm to the touch
  394. >You remove the stopper and take a whiff
  395. >..Yep, definitely gasoline
  396. >That solves a major worry that's been eating at you
  397. >You turn to Twilight
  398. You might want to put something on.  This could take a while
  399. >Twilight's eyes bulge out of her head a bit
  400. >"Spike, could you go get me a notebook please?"
  401.
  402.
  403. >You're on your back under the front of the truck
  404. >Pointing to various parts of the engine from the bottom
  405. >Twilight is looking from the top though the open hood
  406. >And writing up a storm
  407. >You can hear the pencil scratching from here
  408. This is the exhaust manifold, it removes the smoke from the cylinders...
  409. >You roll a bit to point to a different part
  410. And thi-
  411. >You turn your head to see a pair of blue eyes staring in to your own
  412. AAAAAAAAAH!
  413. >You nearly slam your forehead into the bottom of the engine block
  414. >"HI ANONYMOUS!"
  415. JESUS FUCK
  416. >"Who's that?"
  417. >NOPE
  418. >NOPE
  419. >NOPENOPENOPE
  420. >You push yourself out from under the truck and leap to your feet
  421. >From under your truck emerges...
  422. >Pinkie Pie
  423. >You're panting hard
  424. >Your heart rate would put some speedcore to shame
  425. Goddamnit Pinkie...
  426. Don't DO that
  427. >"Do what?  I just said hi!"
  428. >You look at Twilight with exasperation in your eyes
  429. >"I think he means don't surprise him like that again, Pinkie"
  430. >"But that's not as fun..."
  431. >"Anyway, I came to tell you that your welcome  party is at Sugarcube corner tonight.  You gotta come!"
  432. Yeah, sure, I promise
  433. >She dons a look of utter seriousness
  434. >"Do you PINKIE PROMISE?"
  435. What
  436. >"Cross your heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in your eye?"
  437. >Sure, why not
  438. >You're going to go anyway
  439. Cross my heart
  440. >You make the motion
  441. Hope to fly
  442. >You flap your arms and jump a bit
  443. Stick a cupcake in my eye
  444. >You slap your hand onto your face, over your eye
  445. >You finish your little act and look down at the p0nies
  446. >They're both rolling on the ground laughing
  447. Oh come on
  448. >They show no signs of stopping
  449. I wasn't that funny, was I?
  450. >"y-you were just so serious..." Splutters Twilight
  451. >"A-and then you did the-"
  452. >She twitches her front hooves a bit, then resumes her deep, gut busting laughter
  453. >Eventually, the two calm down
  454. >"This party's gonna be great!  See you later Anonymous!"
  455. >And with that, Pinkie Pie exits
  456. >"Sorry about that Anonymous.  It was just so funny!"
  457. >Well, you guess you're okay with this
  458. >Funny things are meant to be laughed at
  459. >Even if they occasionally happen to be you
  460.
  461. Well Twilight, I think I better be going
  462. >She gives you a look like you just shot her dog
  463. >"Why?  You haven't finished explaining how your truck works"
  464. If I keep going now, my voicebox will be shot.  I can always explain more later
  465. >She p0nders this for a moment
  466. >"You're right.  You know your limits."
  467. >"So where are you going?"
  468. I don't know
  469. >You turn around and walk off into town
  470. >Might as well get to know the place if you have some free time
  471. >You wander through the streets, trying to get a sense of the layout
  472. >It seems to be arranged radially from the town hall
  473. >You file this bit of information away for later
  474. >The p0nies in the streets no longer stare at you
  475. >They just go about their business as usual
  476. >You're surprised they have acclimated to you this fast
  477. >Then again, this is magical p0ny land
  478. >Maybe they see wierd shit like you all the time
  479. >It just doesn't stick around like you have
  480. >Your thoughts are interrupted by a hail
  481. >"Hey Anonymous!"
  482. >It's Applebloom
  483. >She quickly runs up to you
  484. Hey Applebloom.   How are you doing?
  485. >"I'm doing great!  Hey, can you help me with something?"
  486. >You glance at the sun
  487. >The party is at sundown
  488. >And you'd hate to be late
  489. >But you've got plenty of time
  490. Sure Applebloom, what do you need?
  491. >She motions for you to bend down
  492. >You do so
  493. >You're almost on all fours
  494. >She proceeds to whisper in your ear
  495. >A somewhat wicked smile spreads across your face
  496. >You do love a good prank
  497.
  498.
  499. >You are Scootaloo
  500. >And you're in the clubhouse
  501. >Applebloom had told you and Sweetie Belle that she was bringing somep0ny she wanted you to meet
  502. >But that was a while ago
  503. >You're starting to get bored
  504. >You're not sure you want to meet this p0ny anyway
  505. >You just came here to test out the wicked new snow wheels on your scooter!
  506. >Complete success, of course
  507. >"I'm boooored" You voice to Sweetie Belle
  508. >"Me too"
  509. >A few minutes pass
  510. >The boredom grows worse
  511. >"Let's go find Applebloom.  Maybe she forgot about us"
  512. >"Good idea" agrees Sweetie Belle
  513. >You both approach the door
  514. >It flies open before you can get there
  515. >A long, black tube with a lump on the end shoved the door open?
  516. >The thing pulls back through the door
  517. >This time, a bigger thing appears
  518. >It's all black
  519. >And fills the entire doorway coming in
  520. >It's making this wierd noise too
  521. >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mACnGsmBZJQ
  522. >Once through the doorway, it starts to unfold
  523. >Up and up it goes
  524. >You have to crane your neck just to see the whole thing
  525. >And what you see there terrifies you
  526. >Not only does it have no face
  527. >It has a very familiar looking posterior hanging off the top
  528. >It has Applebloom!
  529.
  530.
  531. >You are Anonymous
  532. >And this right here
  533. >Is some funny shit
  534. >It was simple enough to put on your scarf and goggles
  535. >Then Applebloom led you to the clubhouse
  536. >At her request you picked her up and set her over your shoulder
  537. >And kicked the door in
  538. >Then, doing your best darth vader impression
  539. >You stepped through the door
  540. >You can hear her sniggering next to your head
  541. >Not too loud though
  542. >In front of you, the two fillies Applebloom told you about stand perfectly still
  543. >One is orange with a purple mane, and has wings
  544. >The other is a creamy white with a curly pink and purple mane, and a horn
  545. >Their eyes widen slowly as they travel up your frame
  546. >The time is now
  547. OOGABOOGABOOGA!
  548. >That does it
  549. >They run screaming to the far end of the clubhouse
  550. >Welp, time for the fun to end
  551. >You kneel and set Applebloom down on the floor
  552. >Then you remove your facial coverings
  553. >She walks over to her two friends
  554. >"I told you I'd get you back!"
  555. >The jig is up
  556. >They both realize they've been had
  557. >"That was a pretty good one Applebloom..." says Sweetie Belle
  558. >"But who's your... big new friend over there?"  continues Scootaloo
  559. I'm Anonymous
  560. >They both blink
  561. >"He's the one I was telling you about" elaborates Applebloom
  562.
  563.
  564. >"Woah, you killed a timber wolf?"
  565. Yep
  566. >"How did you do it?"
  567. >You snap your fingers together
  568. I crushed it with my clamps
  569. >"Really?"
  570. Nah, I just shot it
  571. >Sweetie Belle pipes up
  572. >"You're tall"
  573. Why, thank you for reminding me
  574. >They laugh a bit
  575. Well Applebloom, is there anything else you want?
  576. >"Nah, I just needed to scare these friends of mine"
  577. Then if you'll excuse me, I've got a party to attend
  578. >You start squeezing back through the door
  579. >"Right, the welcoming party."
  580. >The trio of fillies follow you down the ramp
  581. >You watch Scootaloo put on a helmet
  582. >Then she jumps on a scooter with oversize wheels parked under the clubhouse
  583. >"I'll see you there!" you hear her say as she flaps her wings and shoots off towards town
  584. >Applebloom walks up to you
  585. >"Can we walk with you?"
  586. Sure, why not
  587. >You start walking towards town with Applebloom and Sweetie Belle in tow
  588.
  589.
  590. >You're about halfway there, and the two fillies are flagging
  591. >It's been snowing steadily since this morning
  592. >Something they evidently didn't anticipate
  593. >They don't sink far into the snow
  594. >Compared to you
  595. >But their short legs make going dificult
  596. >They're both tiring fast
  597. >So you take the only logical course of action
  598. >You pick up Applebloom
  599. >And get a startled "Hey!" in resp0nse
  600. >Then you put her on top of your hat
  601. You looked a little tired.  I figured you could use ride
  602. >"Wow, is this what it's like all the time for you?"
  603. Yep
  604. >A sniffle draws your attention to your left
  605. >Sweetie Belle stares up at you
  606. >The lip
  607. >The eyes
  608. >Yep, that's a pout
  609. >You chuckle and pick her up
  610. >Then deposit her on your shoulder, like you were carrying Applebloom before
  611. >You must make quite an interesting sight as you plow through the snow
  612.
  613.
  614. >Eventually, you arrive at Sugarcube Corner
  615. >It is by now starting to get a little dark
  616. >But you promised you'd go to this party
  617. >You duck through the door
  618. >Making sure to duck exta low so Applebloom doesn't have to introduce herself to the top of the door frame
  619. >and join the party
  620. >And what a party it is
  621. >The place is absolutely packed
  622. >You had been hoping Pinkie Pie would have a small party
  623. >But apparently she doesn't do small parties
  624. >Banners and streamers hang across the ceiling
  625. >On the far wall a particularly large banner reads "Welcome to P0nyville!"
  626. >One corner is lit entirely by strobe and laser lights
  627. >A white unicorn with neon blue striped hair and purple goggles spins records and drops bass
  628. >In front of her, the dance floor heaves and jumps
  629. >Another corner is occupied by the food and refreshment tables, and even a small bar
  630. >A third corner is mostly tables and seating
  631. >And the last corner is full of party games
  632. >You didn't know p0nies had twister
  633. >As you rise to your full height, the music stops
  634. >The lights come up and every eye in the place is on you
  635. >What the hell, you only live once
  636. THE PARTY DON'T START 'TILL I WALK IN!
  637. >This seems to be exactly what was needed
  638. >The DJ p0ny puts the needle down
  639. >And everyp0ny goes back to what they were doing
  640.
  641.
  642. >You remove Applebloom and Sweetie Belle from your head and shoulders
  643. I think it's time we part ways
  644. >"Okay!"
  645. >They run off to join their friend Scootaloo, who is bobbing for apples
  646. >You shed your cold weather clothing
  647. >First thing's first
  648. >You're starving
  649. >You head straight for the refreshment table
  650. >What a broad selection
  651. >You load up a plate with some of the more scrumptious looking items
  652. >Then fill up a cup with punch
  653. >Now you have to find somewhere to sit
  654. >Being roughly twice as tall as all the p0nies here has its advantages
  655. >You peer across the room to the seating
  656. >You spot Twilight sitting at a table
  657. >Along with AppleJack, Fluttershy, and Rarity
  658. >Even Rainbow Dash is at the table
  659. >Although she's sporting an impressive set of crow's feet
  660. >You make your way through the crowd and set your food down
  661. >Move one of the chairs out, you sit down cross legged
  662. >They all have some manner of food in front of them as well
  663. >There's even silverware!
  664. >You see Rarity and Twilight using magic to manipulate the forks and knives
  665. >They had the forethought to furnish your place with a set
  666. >You waste no time and dig in
  667. >The food is every bit as delicious as it looked
  668.
  669.
  670. >You all finish up at roughly the same time
  671. >An akward silence descends up0n the table
  672. >go go icebreaker
  673. You look kinda tired there, Dash
  674. >She glances over at you
  675. >"Yeah, I am kinda tired."
  676. >"Big, heavy snow clouds have been appearing out of nowhere"
  677. >"I've had to work around the clock to keep blizzards off this place"
  678. Wow, I didn't know weather manipulation was that demanding
  679. >"For a regular pegasus, maybe... But I'm Rainbow Dash, The fastest flier in all of Equestria!  And I won't let a few snow clouds slow me down!"
  680. >You glance around the rest of the table
  681.
  682. >Rarity clears her throat
  683. >"Anonymous, I can't help but admit my curiosity..."
  684. Yeah?
  685. >"You come from another world, correct?"
  686. I do
  687. >"I was just wondering what the fashion of an entirely different world would be like"
  688. >Well crud
  689. >You're not exactly what they'd call fashion suave
  690. >But you do have a few pictures
  691. >You pull out your wallet and remove a few pictures from it
  692. >You pass two pictures to Applejack on your left
  693. >The first one shows a smiling young man in army fatigues typical of the Vietnam era
  694. >The second shows a white haired, somewhat bitter looking old man in a suit
  695. >He has a scar that runs diagonally across his face from hairline to jaw
  696. This is Gunnery Sargent Anonymous, Holder of the purple heart and the best damn father I could ever ask for.  He served three tours for his country in the Vietnam war.  The first picture shows him in army fatigues, designed purely for function.  The second picture shows him in a suit, which is considered acceptable wear for most formal occasions.
  697. >The next pair of pictures you pass around are of a woman
  698. >The first is a young lady in a nurse uniform
  699. >The second an older woman in a flowing white dress
  700. That is my mother.  She served in the Medical corps during the Vietnam war as a nurse, and fell in love with my father while treating his wounds.
  701. The first picture shows her in a nurse uniform, designed for ease of cleaning.  The second shows her in a dress, which is considered formal wear.
  702.
  703.
  704. >The final picture you pass around is of a young man that bears a striking resemblance to you
  705. >He wears a pair of jeans, leather boots, a plaid button up shirt, a stetson, and a massive belt buckle
  706. This is my brother, John Doe.  My parents divorced when I was young, and the courts decreed that my mother take him with her when she returned to Texas.  She changed her last name and his back to her maiden name, Doe, and he picked the name John for himself.  I never saw much of him, and when we did meet we usually mirrored our parent's conflict.
  707. He is wearing attire typical of Texas, which I would imagine is similar to your "Mild West" region.  It is casual wear.
  708. >As the last pictures come back around the table to you, you set them down in front of you
  709. >Then you look up
  710. >The entire table is staring at you
  711. >Well, almost the entire table
  712. >Fluttershy appears to be quietly crying into her cloth napkin
  713. >Rarity and Twilight both have tears in their eyes
  714. >AppleJack and Rainbow Dash merely look at you with sorrow in their eyes
  715. >"Anonymous... I.. I had no idea..." says Rarity
  716. >Your voice gains no small measure of venom
  717. You say that like this
  718. >You gesture to the pictures in front of you
  719. Isn't a common occurrence
  720. >A single tear rolls down her cheek
  721. >Oh fuck
  722. >Anonymous, you doofus
  723. >In this land of diabetes-inducing cuteness and cupcakes, a story like yours probably isn't a common occurrence
  724. Rarity, I apologize.  I don't know what came over me there, and I had no right to make assumptions like that. Can you forgive me?
  725. >"Yes... Yes, I think I can find it in my heart..."
  726.
  727.
  728. >That damnable silence is back
  729. >Fuck that
  730. >You don't need a pity party right now
  731. >You need a party party
  732. Twilight, you looked like you had a question earlier
  733. >"Well, yeah..."
  734. Go ahead
  735. >"How do you know how to use silverware?"
  736. Everyone uses it where I'm from
  737. Lucky coincidence you have it her-
  738. >You are interrupted by Pinkie Pie backflipping up to the table
  739. >How does she even do that?
  740. >And where was she before?
  741. >"Hi Anonymous!  I'm so glad you could make it to your party!"
  742. So am I...
  743. >You're at loss for words
  744. >But she isn't
  745. >"Come on now Anonymous!  We can't have a party without the star player playing"
  746. >She seizes your hand and drags you off towards the party games
  747.
  748.
  749. >Several rounds of twister later, you wish the hellish game was never invented
  750. >Sure, your longer limbs give you an advantage
  751. >But you have to contort yourself to crazy angles
  752. >Stupid game
  753. >Pinkie Pie leaves to attend a few other party goers, and you seize your chance
  754. >When the round finishes you extricate yourself from the tangled mess of limbs
  755. >Now where to?
  756. >You peer about
  757. >Twilight is still at the table
  758. >Reading a book
  759. >There are several empty mugs next to her
  760. >Fluttershy is...
  761. >Hiding in the rafters
  762. >Guess she doesn't care for the noise
  763. >Rarity is at another table, with a few other classy looking p0nies
  764. >And Rainbow Dash is at the bar
  765. >Which leaves...
  766. >Something pushes your lower back
  767. >"Come on Anonymoush"
  768. >It's AppleJack
  769. >And she's fairly well along
  770. >"Letsh head over by Rainbow"
  771. >You shrug and allow her to lead you to the bar
  772. >You never were much of a drinker
  773. >But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy yourself every now and then
  774.
  775.
  776. >You push two of the bar stools out of the way and sit down cross legged
  777. >AppleJack and Rainbow are on either side of you
  778. >The bartender, a stout looking brown p0ny with a moustache, eyes you
  779. >"What'll ya have?"
  780. >You look at AppleJack
  781. >Then at Rainbow Dash
  782. Whatever they're having
  783. >"Apple Cider it is then"
  784. >The bartender fills up a rather small mug and sets it in front of you
  785. >You take a swallow and grimace
  786. >The stuff is thin
  787. >This must be what a Space WOlf feels like when he's out of Fenrisian Ale and has to drink regular Amnesiac
  788. >AppleJack catches the look on your face
  789. >"What?  Not schtrong enough for ya?"
  790. No
  791. >"Bartender, let'sh have shome of my finest"
  792. >He rolls his eyes and produces a bottle
  793. >"AppleJack Daniels" it reads
  794. >Hardy har har
  795. >Then he produces three shot glasses
  796. >Tiny shot glasses
  797. >This won't do
  798. >He fills Rainbow's shot, then AppleJack's
  799. >You reach over and take the bottle from him before he can fill yours
  800. >You dump the rest of your apple cider in a sink behind the counter
  801. >And fill your mug instead
  802. >He shrugs
  803. >You set the bottle back on the bar with a thump
  804. >Rainbow Dash looks surprised
  805. >As much as she can in her state, anyway
  806. >AppleJack pounds you on the back
  807. >"Atta boy"
  808. >You all down the liquor
  809. >Now THIS is more your speed
  810. >Still thinner than what you're accustom to
  811. >But it'll do the trick
  812.
  813.
  814. >A few hours and a bottle of AppleJack Daniel's later, and you are feeling the buzz
  815. >AppleJack points at Twilight
  816. >"C'mon Twalit!  Join tha fun!"
  817. >As she becomes drunker, her slur goes away and her accent becomes more pronounced
  818. >Twilight gets up and joins you at the bar
  819. >Rainbow Dash flutters over to Rarity and whispers something in her ear
  820. >She trots over to join the four of you
  821. >Fluttershy seems to have left
  822. >You can see how something like this would be difficult for her
  823. >Now that you're all settled, AppleJack motions to the bartender
  824. >He sets down another set of shot glasses
  825. >And, after a glance at you, a fresh mug
  826. >You fill all of them with the current bottle
  827. >AppleJack and Rainbow each take a shot in their hooves
  828. >You're really going to have to ask them how they do that sometime
  829. >Rarity and Twilight take their shots with magic
  830. >As one, you raise your glasses in a toast
  831. >Hmmmmmm...
  832. To new friends
  833. >And as one you down the shots
  834.
  835.
  836.
  837. >The effect on Twilight is immediate
  838. >Her cheeks turn a nice shade of red
  839. >She gags a bit and loses her grip on the glass
  840. >Which you deftly catch
  841. >They all look at you in surprise
  842. It's all in the reflexes
  843. >You set the shot back down on the bar
  844. >And examine the rest of your compatriots
  845. >Rainbow and AppleJack are both pretty well along
  846. >And Rarity had been drinking wine with her fancy friends
  847. >So you're all feeling pretty good at this point
  848.
  849.
  850. >"That..."
  851. >"That was good!  I'll have another"
  852. >Twilight looks at you
  853. >You shrug and refill her shot glass
  854. >Rarity is looking at you now
  855. >"I suppose a few more can't hurt..."
  856. >You fill hers as well
  857. >They both swallow their shots
  858. >Twilight manages to keep her grip on the glass this time, and sets it on the bar
  859. >Then her eyelids droop
  860. >"I think I need to..."
  861. >She collapses on the floor, asleep
  862. >Pffff
  863. >Lightweight
  864. >Then again, you don't suppose she finds many opportunities to go out drinking
  865. >Rarity tuts at her
  866. "The poor dear..."
  867. >Then she turns to you
  868. >"Now give me another"
  869. >You're not one to get between a lady and her dirty pleasures
  870. >So you oblige her
  871. >Two shots later, she's snoring on the floor next to Twilight
  872.
  873.
  874. I better go take these two home
  875. >"Awwwwwwww"
  876. Don't worry, I'll be back
  877. >You walk over to your gear and put it on
  878. >Then you pick up the two sleeping p0nies
  879. >You walk over to Applebloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo
  880. >They're playing pin the tail on the donkey
  881. Hey Sweetie Belle
  882. >"Yeah?"
  883. Are you staying with your sister tonight
  884. >"Yup"
  885. Could you show me where her bed is?
  886. >"Sure"
  887. >"It's about time we got going too" says Scootaloo
  888. >The six of you exit into the cool night air
  889. >Big Mac walks through the door after you
  890. >"Come on Applebloom, let's go home"
  891. >They trot off in the direction of sweet apple acres
  892. >Scootaloo waves goodbye as she scooters off into the distance
  893. >Leaving you and Sweetie Belle
  894. She lives in Carousel Boutique?
  895. >"Uh huh"
  896. Well alright then
  897. >You crunch off towards the clothing store
  898. >After you enter and stomp your boots out, Sweetie Belle leads you up a flight of stairs
  899. >And through the door on the left
  900. >You set Rarity down on the bed and, using your spare arm, cover her with the blankets
  901. >Then you walk back out into the hall
  902. >Sweetie Belle is looking at you
  903. >You don't like that look
  904. >So you set Twilight down and follow her into another room
  905. >You tuck her in under the covers
  906. Good night Sweetie Belle
  907. >"Good night Anonymous"
  908. >You turn off the light and close the door
  909.
  910.
  911. >Now you're walking down the lamplit streets
  912. >You're carrying Twilight in your arms
  913. >The crisp, cold night air is calming to you
  914. >So much that you start to sing quietly
  915. >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pISzxdEgDCU
  916.
  917.
  918. >You are Twilight
  919. >And you just woke up
  920. >Somep0ny is carrying you
  921. >you haven't been carried like this since you were a filly
  922. >It feels good
  923. >You open your eyes and look around
  924. >You are traveling down the darkened streets of P0nyville
  925. >And you can hear singing
  926. >A pair of strong, black clad arms hold you firm in their grasp
  927. >You look up to see Anonymous carrying you
  928. >He hasn't noticed you are awake
  929. >His singing is...
  930. >Beautiful
  931. >You could almost-
  932. >Puke
  933. >You lean over the edge of his arm and empty your stomach onto the snow covered ground
  934. >Your eyes water
  935. >He pats your back a bit
  936. >When you finish, you look back up at Anonymous
  937. >In his eyes, you find only sympathy
  938. Done?
  939. >"Yeah..."
  940. >He reaches down and picks up some snow
  941. >And with it he wipes off your mouth
  942. >Then he kicks more snow over the vomit pile
  943. >He turns and resumes his stride
  944. >And his singing
  945. >The gentle rocking motion and soft singing lul you back to sleep...
  946.
  947.
  948. >You are Anonymous
  949. >And you've been puke drunk before enough to know how much fun it isn't
  950. >So you patiently wait for Twilight to finish
  951. >When she's done, you wipe her mouth off and resume your stride
  952. >Soon enough, she's back asleep
  953. >You enter the housebrary to find Spike sitting at a table
  954. >He's reading a book
  955. >Makes sense
  956. Hey Spike
  957. >You whisper
  958. Could you show me where her bed is?
  959. >"I can do that"
  960. >He gets down off his chair and leads you to the upper level
  961. >You set Twilight down on the bed and cover her up
  962. >Then you run down to the kitchen and grab a glass and a pitcher of water
  963. >Spike eyes you curiously when you return
  964. Trust me, she's going to want these in the morning
  965. >You put them both on the night stand next to her
  966. G'night Spike.  G'night Twilight
  967. >And with that, you head back to the party
  968.
  969.
  970. >AppleJack and Rainbow decided to celebrate your return to the party with another round of shots
  971. >Followed up by a few more...
  972. >So you are well and truly drunk now
  973. >You feel like you can take on the world
  974. >And you'll start with that dance floor over there
  975. I'll be right back
  976. >You say to AppleJack and Rainbow
  977. >You get up and head for the stage
  978. >The dance floor isn't quite as populated as it was when you arrived
  979. >But you still have a little trouble making it up to the record table
  980. >Guards appear from the crowd and move to stop you
  981. >"No, no, it's alright" calls the DJ
  982. >They reluctantly retreat, but continue to watch you
  983. So you're the DJ, right?
  984. >"Yeah. I'm Vinyl Scratch"
  985. And you can do magic
  986. >"Yup.  What of it?"
  987. I have an idea
  988. >"Really"
  989. I'm gonna think of a good song from my planet, and you can dig it out of my brain
  990. >"Well, I suppose I can try...."
  991. >You're at the height of drunk logic right now
  992. >The best kind of logic
  993. >And nothing's going to stop you
  994. >Not even an unwilling magical DJ unicorn p0ny
  995.
  996.
  997.
  998. Nonsense!  Here
  999. >You kneel down and present your forehead
  1000. Now do it
1001. >Her horn begins to glow
  1002. Come on....
  1003. >"That's... That's quite the brain you've got there"
  1004. COME ON....
  1005. >"I'm not sure-"
1006. >You grab the sides of her head and pull the tip of her horn up to touch your forehead
1007. >You stare down through her purple goggles and into her red, red eyes
  1008. YOU CAN DO THIS!
1009. >The glow gets brighter and brighter
1010. >And then with a final, blinding flash, it finishes
1011. >On the ground between you sits a new record
1012. >You're bleeding a little bit from your forehead, but you don't care
1013. There, see?  I toldja you could do it
1014. >Vinyl appears to be in shock
1015. >So you pick up the record and put it on the table
1016. >Then you set the needle spinning and vault over to a clear spot on the dance floor
  1017. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2GSyQBdeEQ
  1018. >You start dancing up a storm
1019. >The other p0nies on the floor seem to like the music and start dancing too
1020. >The song ends, and Vinyl looks down at you from the stage
  1021. >"What now?"
  1022. Flip it over!
  1023. >"Of course..."
  1024.
  1025.
  1026.
1027. >She flips the record over and puts the needle down
  1028. >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKTpWi5itOM
1029. >This time you start your dancing slow
1030. >And speed up with the song
  1031. >Pretty soon, you're on fire
1032. >All the p0nies on the floor are cheering up a storm
1033. >When the song finally finishes, Vinyl waves you back up to the stage
1034. >"That music was AWESOME!  I've got so many new ideas now!"
1035. >"We should do this again sometime"
  1036. That we should
1037. >As she puts the new record into a fresh sleeve, you head back over to the bar
  1038. >Rainbow Dash is speechless
  1039. >AppleJack isn't
1040. >"Woah Anonymous, ah didn't know ya could do that..."
  1041. Neither did I
1042. >All three of you laugh
1043. >And continue with the party
