  1.  >You are anon.
  2. >And your heart and soul is broken.
  3. >3 months ago, you woke up from a deep sleep to a phone call, a phone call which practically destroyed the world around you.
  4. -
  5. “Gah…”
  6. >For fuck’s sake.
  7. >The phone next to you on your desk rings obnoxiously loud, pulling you out of your sleep.
  8. >What the Hell?
  9. >Glancing at the clock, you see it’s 3:05 AM
  10. >Who the fuck could be calling at this hour? God damn it.
  11. >Could be your mom having car troubles.
  12. >Your mother works a late shift at a bank downtown, it’s not often you get a call from her.
  13. >Especially one at 3 in the fucking morning.
  14. >Well, no use in keeping her waiting.
  15. >Flipping open your phone, you see it’s not actually your mom calling.
  16. >Infact, it’s not really a number you’ve seen before.
  17. >At this point, you’re pretty pissed off some asshole is calling you at 3 in the morning.
  18. >Pressing accept, you bring the phone to your ear.
  19. “What? Who the Hell is this?”
  20. >”Mr. Anon? is that you?”
  21. “Yes, what do you want?”
  22. >”Mr. Anon… there’s been an accident.”
  23. >Goosebumps went up your spine.
  24. “An accident?”
  25. >”Your mother’s car slammed into a drunk driver. She’s hurt very bad.”
  26. “B- but she’s alive though, right?”
  27. >Silence.
  28. >”You should come soon, Mr. Anon.”
  29. -
  30. >After that call, you just lay in your room, in your bed, only ever leaving your room and apartment to find some food.
  31. >At first, you really didn’t cry at all.
  32. >Or sleep, or eat, or drink.
  33. >You just layed in your bed, staring up at the ceiling.
  34. >Sooner or later, the cold truth set in:
  35. >She’s gone.
  36. >Once those two words entered your mind, you couldn’t get them out. That’s when you started to cry.
  37. >For what seemed like 2 days straight, you cried. You cried so hard you couldn’t cry anymore.
  38. >Pain was all you felt.
  39. >So now, here you are. Staring up at the ceiling once again.
  40. >God… you miss her so much.
  41. >What you’d do just to hear her voice again.
  42. >You had a very hard childhood, you grew up with a drunk bastard of a father who beat your mother everyday infront of you, and then once you got a little bit older, beat you.
  43. >It was a terrible childhood until somewhere around the time you turned 6, your mother finally had enough.
  44. >She packed what little belongings she possessed and got the fuck out, moving in with her parents for a little while, then eventually getting and holding a job to earn enough money to move you both out into an apartment.
  45. >The apartment wasn’t a beautiful 5 star apartment, just a simple one.
  46. >2 bedrooms, a kitchen and living room.
  47. >Smack dead in the middle of a shitty part of town.
  48. >Wasn’t glamorous, but it became home.
  49. >Your stomach rumbles loudly.
  50. >Well great. You’re hungry.
  51. >You continue to lay in your bed for a moment, until finally getting up and grabbing your keys.
  52. >No use in sitting on your ass starving to death, no matter how much you want to.
  53. >You throw on a coat and walk out your room, taking a glance at where your mothers room was and feeling a terrible tightness in your chest.
  54. >Something comes over you and you step into your mother’s room.
  55. >Looking around, you see it’s exactly as it was the day she died, a fact which makes you even sadder as the painful realization sets in once again.
  56. “What the fuck am I doing with my life?”
  57. >You look at yourself in a mirror.
  58. “This is just…”
  59. >Brushing a hand across the surface of the mirror, you sigh;a few tears escaping your eyes.
  60. “...This just too much.”
  61. >Now you know. You know what to do.
  62. >Your face is devoid of all emotion, save for a small trail of tears trickling down your face as you turn around and walk out the room and back into your room.
  63. >Opening your closet, you pull out a small 9MM pistol.
  64. >Seeing as to how you lived in a shitty part of town, you planned on keeping this pistol incase of robbers.
  65. >It never really occured to you that you would be using it on yourself.
  66. >You cock the pistol and place the barrel to the side of your head, and place your finger on the trigger, shedding a final tear before pulling it.
  67. >It’s a quick, violent death.
  68. >The bullet exits out of the other side of your head as you fall to the floor of your apartment, twitching violently.
  69. >Everything is all fuzzy and the world quickly grows dark around you…
  70. >It’s… peaceful in a way…
  71. ---
  72. >You are anon, and you just put a bullet in your brain.
  73. >But… how are you still thinking?
  74. >You open your eyes and look around.
  75. >It looks like you’re in some sort of a forest.
  76. >Is this… the afterlife?
  77. >Shaking your head, you pull yourself off the ground and stand on your feet.
  78. >Maybe it is.
  79. >”Um… hello?”
  80. >Stretching and yawning, you turn to face the person who just talked.
  81. “Hello, do you know where-”
  82. >...
  83. >For a minute or two, you just stare.
  84. >Staring back at you, is a yellow coated pink maned… pony…
  85. >Did… Did that pony just talk?
  86. ---
  87. >It is now day 14 in Equestria.
  88. >After Fluttershy found you in the forest, she brought you back to her friend Twilight who went ahead and filled you in on the place you are at.
  89. >Apparently, you are now in a magical kingdom inhabited by ponies known as ‘Equestria’.
  90. >Normally, you would be surprised, but honestly? You don’t give a flying fuck anymore.
  91. >Does the fact that killing yourself teleported you here bother you?
  92. >Not really.
  93. >For a few hours, Twilight assaulted you with a barrage of questions, questions about your homeworld, humans, everything.
  94. >You tried to answer as best you could until…
  95. >Until she asked about your life and if you knew how you got here.
  96. >Naturally, you had trouble telling her about it, so you just straight up lied to her.
  97. >You told her you had no idea what could have transported you to Equestria.
  98. >But you knew…
  99. >Twilight was kind enough to let you stay at her library for the time being, and you even managed to hold a steady job there.
  100. >While it may at a glance seem that you are much happier here than you were on Earth, things are actually much worse.
  101. >Much worse indeed.
  102. >Now instead of just missing your mother, you have left behind what little remaining friends and family you had back on Earth.
  103. >You’ve never been more depressed.
  104. >But strangely, you have learned how to go and hide all these emotions behind a mask of happiness.
  105. >On the surface, you’re smiling, but on the inside, you’re crying.
  106. >It also doesn’t help at all that the townspeople are still not used to the walking, talking monkey man.
  107. >You’ve hardly made any friends outside of Twilight’s circle of friends.
  108. >Yesterday you did however meet and befriend a mare with strange crossed eyes, she didn’t seem put off by the fact you were an inter-dimensional traveler.
  109. >Hell, she even gave you a muffin.
  110. >Life ain’t so bad when you got muffins.
  111. -
  112. >Sighing, you toss and turn in your bed.
  113. >Falling asleep never did come easy after the death of your mother.
  114. >It would always take a good hour to finally fall asleep, but you would almost always 80% of the time wake up in the middle of the night from a nightmare.
  115. >And tonight is one of those nights.
  116. “God fucking damn it… I’m sick of this…”
  117. >You strain your eyes shut and toss and turn, trying desperately to get back to sleep, but your mother and life back on Earth is still fresh in your mind.
  118. >Maybe you should try your chances at killing yourself again…
  119. >After a few more minutes of tossing and turning, you finally throw your sheets off you and climb out of bed.
  120. >This is getting you no where.
  121. >Maybe a good walk around town will help you.
  122. >Beats sitting in your bed depressed.
  123. >You are careful not to wake Spike and Twilight upstairs as you tip toe out the front door, throwing on some shoes Rarity made you.
  124. >A cool breeze blows through the air.
  125. >It feels pretty nice…
  126. >Taking a deep breath, you set off down the road to sweet apple acres.
  127. -
  128. >You are Rainbow Dash.
  129. >Best flyer in Equestria.
  130. >And you can’t sleep.
  131. >This usually doesn’t happen that often, but once it does you can’t really fall back asleep.
  132. >Sighing, you decide to just go ahead and take a quick flight to clear your head.
  133. >Should be good after that.
  134. >It usually is.
  135. “Here we go.”
  136. >Jumping off the cloud, you start beating your wings and going in the direction of sweet apple acres.
  137. >The wind blowing through your mane, you smile.
  138. >You never could get over the liberating, free feeling of flying.
  139. >Hell, you did dedicate your life to becoming the best flier after all.
  140. >In a matter of minutes, you reach sweet apple acres, planning to do a quick fly over and then return home.
  141. >What you didn’t expect was to see anon.
  142. >Quickly, you land on a cloud over the acres and look down at him.
  143. >That’s anon alright.
  144. >What could he be doing up at this hour?
  145. >He has his back turn to you, looking over a fence and into the acres.
  146. >Anon.
  147. >To be completely honest, you were kind of nervous around him the first time Twilight brought him to you.
  148. >But you found he was a pretty cool dude, kind of rough around the edges, but cool none the less.
  149. >He’s also kind of fast, able to keep up with you in a race.
  150. >Something always kind of felt off about him though.
  151. >Shrugging, you decide to fly down and talk to him.
  152. -
  153. >You sigh as another breeze of wind gusts through the air.
  154. >The farm kind of reminds you of your uncle’s farm. You used to go visit them and help out around the place.
  155. >Even got to drive the mower a few times.
  156. >Was some pretty fun stuff.
  157. >Uh oh.
  158. >You start thinking of your family, and then friends, and then mother.
  159. >And then, the familiar tightness in your chest comes back.
  160. >Damn it all to Hell, you came out here to get your mind clear, not make it worse.
  161. >Something happens which surprises you.
  162. >Rather than try to push the emotions back, you find yourself… crying.
  163. >Months after her death and you still miss her.
  164. >You don’t only miss her, you miss everything.
  165. >You really fucked up when you shot yourself. You could atleast have kept your friends and family back on Earth.
  166. >Now you’re stuck here, in Equestria. An outcast.
  167. >”Anon?”
  168. >You freeze.
  169. >Oh God. What’s she doing here?
  170. >You can’t let her see you like this…
  171. “Y- yeah?”
  172. >Maybe she won’t notice the way you’re acting.
  173. >”You okay? What are you doing out here?”
  174. >You hear her step closer.
  175. >”Anon?”
  176. >Damn it…
  177. >Her eyes go wide when you turn to her.
  178. >Rainbow frowns and steps up to you.
  179. >”What’s wrong, anon?”
  180. >Something inside of you snaps.
  181. “What’s wrong? WHAT’S WRONG? I… I have fucking ruined everything… That’s what is wrong!”
  182. >Rather than back up from your tirade, she cocks her head.
  183. >”What do you mean?”
  184. >You sigh.
  185. “Do you want to know how I got here?”
  186. >Dash looks at you, confused.
  187. >But she motions you to continue.
  188. “I- I got here by…”
  189. >Turning away from her, a few more tears drop from your face.
  190. >You really don’t want to look weak infront of her, for a reason you’re not sure why, but at this point you’ve already shown her your emotional state.
  191. “...I got here by killing myself…”
  192. >You whisper it, just loud enough for her to hear.
  193. >Rainbow’s eyes go wide as she steps up to you.
  194. >”W- what?”
  195. >You face her again.
  196. >Then you finally tell her. You tell her everything, how you grew up in a shitty household, how your mother died, how you didn’t know what to do and how you wallowed in depression for 3 months and just ended up killing yourself, then how you ended up here worse than before, how much you missed Earth with your friends and family and how you still miss your mother, and then when you went to visit her in the hospital.
  197. -
  198. >You burst through the doors of the hospital.
  199. >In your hurry, you didn’t even take the time to throw on some proper clothing, you are still wearing your old T-Shirt and sweatpants.
  200. “Where is she?”
  201. >You bang on the receptionist desk to get the receptionist’s attention.
  202. >”I’m sorry sir…?”
  203. “Where is my mother?”
  204. >They lead you to a hospital room.
  205. >”Your mother is in critical condition, we have tried our best but we can’t make any promises.”
  206. >Gulping, you open the door and step in.
  207. >The sight before you makes your heart sink.
  208. >Your mother is laying on a bed with a few machines hooked up to her.
  209. >Tears threatening to burst from your eyes, you slowly walk up to her.
  210. “M- mom?”
  211. >No response.
  212. >Her eyes are shut, and the only sound in the room is the heart monitor next to her.
  213. >She actually stays in this condition for a few days.
  214. >Everyday you aren’t at work, you go to the hospital and visit her, telling her about your day.
  215. >She of course is not awake.
  216. >But you know she can hear you…
  217. >On this day, you walk into the room after asking the doctor’s if her condition had improved.
  218. >It was the same response as always, no.
  219. >Infact, they have said it is getting worse.
  220. >Fuck those assholes… You know she can pull through.
  221. >She has to.
  222. “H- hey mom… How ya doin’?”
  223. >Silence.
  224. >You step up to her, pulling a chair up to the bed and sit down in it, gripping her hand.
  225. >The heart monitor next to her is going slow today, a long pause between beats.
  226. >Deep down inside, you know that this is the day…
  227. >You didn’t think it would come so quickly.
  228. “M- mom… I wanted you to know since I will probably never get a chance to tell you again.”
  229. >Tears began to trail from your eyes.
  230. “I- I love you.”
  231. >”BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP”
  232. >The heart monitor beeped as your mom stopped breathing.
  233. >No…
  234. >It can’t be…
  235. >You grip her hand and bury your head in her stomach.
  236. >Please… Come back...
  237. -
  238. >At this point, you imagine you look like a train wreck.
  239. >It’s what you feel like, anyway.
  240. >After you finish your story, an awkward silence sets in between you.
  241. >For a long as fuck time, you both just sit there staring at each other.
  242. >You’ve stopped crying atleast, but you still feel like garbage.
  243. >”Wow.”
  244. >She eventually speaks up.
  245. >”Anon I had no idea… Twilight told me that you… had no idea how you got here.”
  246. >You nod.
  247. “Yeah. I had to lie to her, I couldn’t let anyone know.”
  248. >She casts a sympathetic look.
  249. >”Well anon, I know it’s not much coming from me, but I know how you feel.”
  250. >Now it’s your turn to look confused.
  251. >”Yeah.” she chuckles. “I know.”
  252. >Dash walks up next to you and looks out to the field.
  253. >”When I was a filly… My dad died. I was so young… I didn’t really understand at the time, but once I got older I kind of figured it out that he was gone for good… He was the one who brought me to see my first Wonderbolt show, the one who I would go to for advise, he was always there for me.”
  254. >Her expression drops to a saddened one.
  255. >”I can’t really say it’s the same as what you’ve been through… I only lost my father… I didn’t lose everything.”
  256. >You feel a sting in your heart.
  257. >”But I just want you to know…”
  258. >Your eyes go wide when she pulls you into a hug.
  259. >”I’m there for you… We’re all here for you…”
  260. >You pause for a second before hugging her back, tight. Crying.
  261. >She holds you as you let it all out.
  262. >You finally release months… no, years of pent-up emotions.
  263. >And she holds you and comforts it through it all.
  264. >After what feels like hours, your crying comes to a stop.
  265. >The tightness in your chest is no longer present, you feel a feeling you haven’t felt in a long time.
  266. >Happiness.
  267. >You release her and she looks at you, smiling awkwardly.
  268. “T- thanks Dash…”
  269. >”Anytime, buddy…”
