  1. >”Discord, what is wrong with you today? You haven’t been your normal self.”
  2. >The God of Chaos shifted uncomfortably in his chair, stroking his chin.
  3. >Discord had arrived in Ponyville out of the blue to spend time with Fluttershy.
  4. >Usually, the two wrote to each other.
  5. >Very rarely would he visit.
  6. >”Oh nothing Fluttershy.” He exhaled sadly.
  7. >Fluttershy wasn’t going to give up that easily.
  8. >”Come on Discord, we’re friends. You can tell me anything.”
  9. >Discord winced at the word ‘friend’ and averted his gaze to a wall, not wanting to make eye contact with her.
  10. >”It’s nothing, really.”
  11. >Fluttershy frowned, she didn’t like seeing her friend like this.
  12. >”Discord, don’t make me use the stare…”
  13. >Discord sighed.
  14. >Usually, Fluttershy’s stare did nothing to him, but ever since becoming friends, the stare had become more effective some how.
  15. >Seeing no other option, Fluttershy stared him down.
  16. >Discord could not pull away from her deep, penetrating gaze.
  17. >”ALRIGHT!” he shouted. “I’LL TELL YOU!”
  18. >Instantly, her gaze softened.
  19. >”About 3000 years ago… I met a pony…”
  20. -
  21. >All along the road, trees were walking by themselves, and popcorn fell from the sky.
  22. >Ponies were panicking everywhere, running frantically around trying to escape the chaos.
  23. >Discord sighed with content as he pulled up a chair out of no where and surveyed the chaos he had created.
  24. >Something wasn’t right though.
  25. >In the middle of the road, a young colt stood, looking up at the sky with wonder.
  26. >Discord jumped off his chair, curious as to why the colt was not running around screaming.
  27. >”You there.” he called out to him.
  28. >The colt turned to him and pointed a hoof at himself.
  29. >”Me?”
  30. >”Yes, you.”
  31. >Discord popped up infront of the colt.
  32. >”What is going on? Why aren’t you screaming and running around?”
  33. >The colt cast Discord a puzzled look.
  34. >”Why should I be? This is pretty fun.”
  35. >...
  36. >Fun?
  37. >Did a pony actually just say that this was fun?
  38. >”Fun!?”
  39. >The colt smiled.
  40. >”Yeah! Usually things are boring around here, but this is pretty cool!”
  41. >Discord was conflicted.
  42. >He wasn’t sure how to feel about a pony liking what he was doing.
  43. >Usually, ponies were afraid of him.
  44. >But this young pony wasn’t…
  45. >”Hm…” Discord shrugged.
  46. >Suddenly, two lawn chairs popped out of thin air next to him.
  47. >He jumped up into the chair and patted the other chair, inviting the young pony over.
  48. >The two then spent the day watching the chaos and laughing amongst each other.
  49. >This was the start of something Discord had never experienced before.
  50. >Friendship.
  51. >The two were inseparable.
  52. >Throughout the years, they laughed and played with each other, their friendship becoming stronger with each passing year.
  53. >But something was wrong.
  54. >While the young colt was aging, Discord remained the same.
  55. >Soon, the colt grew old.
  56. >They weren’t able to do the things they used to be able to do.
  57. >But sometimes, they still sat back on warm days and reigned chaos.
  58. >One day however, Discord arrived at his door.
  59. >”Knock knock!”
  60. >He pushed open the door.
  61. >There infront of the fireplace in a chair was his friend, facing the fireplace. his back turned to Discord.
  62. >”Ready to go have some fun, buddy?”
  63. >No response.
  64. >Discord chuckled.
  65. >”You always were a prankster…”
  66. >He stepped infront of the chair and was met with a shocking revelation.
  67. >There was his friend.
  68. >He had stopped breathing.
  69. >”W- what?”
  70. >A thousand different feeling swirled around Discord’s mind.
  71. >Fear, sadness, anger…
  72. >”N- no! This has to be a joke!”
  73. >He shook his friend violently, wanting to believe it to be a joke.
  74. >”NO! PLEASE!”
  75. >But nothing was going to change this.
  76. >It was that day, that Discord swore never to have another friend.
  77. -
  78. >Tears trailed down Discord’s face as the repressed memories flooded back to him like a hurricane of emotions.
  79. >Fluttershy, not knowing what to do, pulled Discord into her comforting embrace.
  80. >”There there…”
  81. >He cried.
  82. >He cried more than he has possibly ever cried in his life.
  83. >And while this happened, Fluttershy held him.
  84. >”I’m going to be here, Discord. You’re my friend…”
  85. >But Discord knew that eventually…
  86. >She would be gone.
  87. >Such is the curse of immortality.
