- >”Discord, what is wrong with you today? You haven’t been your normal self.”
- >The God of Chaos shifted uncomfortably in his chair, stroking his chin.
- >Discord had arrived in Ponyville out of the blue to spend time with Fluttershy.
- >Usually, the two wrote to each other.
- >Very rarely would he visit.
- >”Oh nothing Fluttershy.” He exhaled sadly.
- >Fluttershy wasn’t going to give up that easily.
- >”Come on Discord, we’re friends. You can tell me anything.”
- >Discord winced at the word ‘friend’ and averted his gaze to a wall, not wanting to make eye contact with her.
- >”It’s nothing, really.”
- >Fluttershy frowned, she didn’t like seeing her friend like this.
- >”Discord, don’t make me use the stare…”
- >Discord sighed.
- >Usually, Fluttershy’s stare did nothing to him, but ever since becoming friends, the stare had become more effective some how.
- >Seeing no other option, Fluttershy stared him down.
- >Discord could not pull away from her deep, penetrating gaze.
- >”ALRIGHT!” he shouted. “I’LL TELL YOU!”
- >Instantly, her gaze softened.
- >”About 3000 years ago… I met a pony…”
- -
- >All along the road, trees were walking by themselves, and popcorn fell from the sky.
- >Ponies were panicking everywhere, running frantically around trying to escape the chaos.
- >Discord sighed with content as he pulled up a chair out of no where and surveyed the chaos he had created.
- >Something wasn’t right though.
- >In the middle of the road, a young colt stood, looking up at the sky with wonder.
- >Discord jumped off his chair, curious as to why the colt was not running around screaming.
- >”You there.” he called out to him.
- >The colt turned to him and pointed a hoof at himself.
- >”Me?”
- >”Yes, you.”
- >Discord popped up infront of the colt.
- >”What is going on? Why aren’t you screaming and running around?”
- >The colt cast Discord a puzzled look.
- >”Why should I be? This is pretty fun.”
- >...
- >Fun?
- >Did a pony actually just say that this was fun?
- >”Fun!?”
- >The colt smiled.
- >”Yeah! Usually things are boring around here, but this is pretty cool!”
- >Discord was conflicted.
- >He wasn’t sure how to feel about a pony liking what he was doing.
- >Usually, ponies were afraid of him.
- >But this young pony wasn’t…
- >”Hm…” Discord shrugged.
- >Suddenly, two lawn chairs popped out of thin air next to him.
- >He jumped up into the chair and patted the other chair, inviting the young pony over.
- >The two then spent the day watching the chaos and laughing amongst each other.
- >This was the start of something Discord had never experienced before.
- >Friendship.
- >The two were inseparable.
- >Throughout the years, they laughed and played with each other, their friendship becoming stronger with each passing year.
- >But something was wrong.
- >While the young colt was aging, Discord remained the same.
- >Soon, the colt grew old.
- >They weren’t able to do the things they used to be able to do.
- >But sometimes, they still sat back on warm days and reigned chaos.
- >One day however, Discord arrived at his door.
- >”Knock knock!”
- >He pushed open the door.
- >There infront of the fireplace in a chair was his friend, facing the fireplace. his back turned to Discord.
- >”Ready to go have some fun, buddy?”
- >No response.
- >Discord chuckled.
- >”You always were a prankster…”
- >He stepped infront of the chair and was met with a shocking revelation.
- >There was his friend.
- >He had stopped breathing.
- >”W- what?”
- >A thousand different feeling swirled around Discord’s mind.
- >Fear, sadness, anger…
- >”N- no! This has to be a joke!”
- >He shook his friend violently, wanting to believe it to be a joke.
- >”NO! PLEASE!”
- >But nothing was going to change this.
- >It was that day, that Discord swore never to have another friend.
- -
- >Tears trailed down Discord’s face as the repressed memories flooded back to him like a hurricane of emotions.
- >Fluttershy, not knowing what to do, pulled Discord into her comforting embrace.
- >”There there…”
- >He cried.
- >He cried more than he has possibly ever cried in his life.
- >And while this happened, Fluttershy held him.
- >”I’m going to be here, Discord. You’re my friend…”
- >But Discord knew that eventually…
- >She would be gone.
- >Such is the curse of immortality.
