Sunset Eyes (Work in Progress)

>Another day is slowly passing by as you eat your lunch in solitude.

>Not being a social butterfly made it hard for you to make friends when you transferred to Canterlot High.

>It didn't bother you much though as you prefer it to being suffocated by people all the time.

>As you eat your lunch, you watch the other classmates at their tables.

>They're talking among themselves, laughing and smiling.

>Due to it being a month after you've come to know this school, you decide to give up on having that kind of relationship with anyone.

>Or at least, you tried to.

 

>"Hey there!"

>An unknown voice startles you a bit as you look up to meet the eyes of the person it belongs to.

>Do you mind if I sit here?

>Being the only one at your table, you simply nod as she enthusiastically takes a seat.

>Upon closer inspection, you notice that her clothes have more than a couple of holes in them.

>You also notice that she's drooling a bit as her golden eyes stare intently at your muffin

>"Are you gonna eat that?"

"Not really. I'm not that hungry"

>That, and you don't believe that denying this girl your muffin would turn out well.

 

>"So, what's your name?"

>Trying hard not to stare directly at her eye, you answer her.

"Anonymous. Call me Anon"

"Please, no. Just call me Anon."

>You feel like an ass as she lowers her head.

>The way that her smile fades makes you regret how you hate being called Nonny.

>You try to salvage the conversation

"So..um, what's your name?

>The marinara sauce building in your pockets recedes when you see her face lighten up.

>"I'm Derpy!"

>She must hold the world record for quickest rebound.

"Derpy huh? That's an...interesting name."

>And with that, the lunch bell rings.

>You still can't believe that happened, but you're happy regardless.

>After all, what could go wrong?

 

>You couldn't wait till school was over.

>As you walk into your last period for the day, you notice Derpy following you inside.

>Turns out that she has chemistry with you

>How come you never noticed?

>You have no time to ponder this as she runs up to you

>"Hey Anon!"

>"You're still coming over today right?"

"Of course. I said I would, like, four minutes ago."

>"Great! I can't wait!"

>You feel the warmth of her body as she embraces you before skipping happily to her seat.

>The feeling of her skin on yours is all you can think about until the bell rings.

>After school you begin to walk with Derpy to her house.

>The more you talk to her, the cooler she becomes to you.

>It's a shame how people can't see past her looks and see how great she is.

>As she leads you to her house, you begin to notice the secluded area you're in.

>The once abundant rows of houses slowly diminish until you find yourself next to Derpy, in front of a single white house.

>It's not particularly broken down, but it's far from brand new.

>She grabs your hand as she leads you to the old wooden door.

>After four knocks, the door opens.

>A tall, gray-skinned woman is standing in the doorway.

>"Welcome home Derpy. How was school?"

>"School was great mom. I brought a friend over to play with me."

>Her mom's eyes open as wide as the freakin' moon!

>"A friend!? Derpy that's wonderful!"

>Her mom looks at you, amazed at your very existence.

>You decide to introduce yourself.

"My name's Anonymous. It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs...um."

>"Hooves, Diana Hooves"

>You're a little embarrassed for not knowing Derpy's last name, but she doesn't seem to mind.

>As you and Derpy step inside, you eyes move to take in as much as they can.

>Your eyes wander to the kitchen table.

>Bottles of whiskey, vodka, and beer sit right next to each other

>Derpy's mom doesn't seem like the type to drink.

>That thought is pushed to the back of your mind however as Derpy leads you upstairs.

 

>Her room is surprising tidy, unlike the clothes that she's wearing.

>You wonder why she hasn't trashed those rags as she starts up her console.

>"What do you want to play Anon?"

>You decide to let her choose and she grabs a copy of Sly 3

>Why not?

>The two player on Sly 3 is surprisingly satisfying.

>You really were missing out, but you never had anyone to play with.

>Until now.

 

>Oh shit

>She's really good a this.

>Even playing as Carmelita while button mashing only does so much.  

>You ended up tackling her to stop the embarrassment.

>For a while, you just look at each other, unsure of what to do next.

>Cock-eyed or not, her eyes really are beautiful.  

>After a while you both end up laughing.

>She gets up to pick another game, but hearing the door slam stops her dead in her tracks.

>You look up at her, worried now as she's visibly  shaking.

>You rush over to her.

>She's hyperventilating.

>She's muttering "fuck" over and over again under her breath.

>You put your own hand on her shoulder.

>She stops and stares at you as her eyes begin to water.

>The next two words that came out of her mouth were a warning. One that you wish you had known the meaning of beforehand.

>"...I'm sorry"

 

>"Shut the fuck up!"

>That's all you hear before a loud thud practically shakes the house.

>You look to Derpy

>She's beginning to cry

>Something you never wanted see.

>"Don't you touch my fucking booze!"

>You hear a scream, knowing it couldn't have come from anyone else but Diana.

>"I know you're hiding her from me! She doesn't have anywhere else to go!"

>You move to hold on to Derpy, who's on the floor shaking more than a vibrator.

>All you can do is wait. You can tell what's coming.

>"Come down here you disabled cunt!"

>Silence falls over the house for what feels like forever. Even forever must have it's limits though as his screaming continues.

>"I said GET THE FUCK DOWN HERE!"

>Slowly, Derpy's legs begin to move against her will.

>You find your legs moving right along with her.

>You don't want her to face this alone.

>With the both you on your feet, you look at each other.

>Even with tears streaming down her face, she still manages to give you a weak smile.

>You give her one back as you head downstairs holding on the each other as tight as you can.

>"There you are. How's my favorite retard doing?"

>Derpy just stands there, tears streaming down her face.

>This action is met with a large slap to her face.

>Here you are, looking at this rough-faced man.

>His eyes are a fitting dark red.

>You can smell a mixture of booze on his breath.

>Seeing Derpy and Diana on the floor has you frozen in place, facing the cause of it all.

>Your blood begins to boil

>You know you can't face him, but there's nothing else that you want to do right now.

>All of a sudden you hear Derpy let out a wail.

>That's it

>Your fist connects to his face, which causes him to finally recognize you presence as he falls to the floor.

>Finish him.

>You begin to kick the shit out of the fucker. >Your victory is short lived as he kicks you down and goes to town on your ass.

>After a few minutes you feel something soft.

>Derpy and Diana are laying on top of you, protecting you  

   

 

>Derpy pulls you from under her as Diana screams at you to run.

>Having no other choice you start to book it as you and Derpy run for you lives.

>The screams die down as you run farther and farther and end up on a hill.

>The silence that follows after is long, but broken by Derpy.

>"I'm...sorry Anon"

>You look up at her, not wanting her to apologize, but still wanting an explanation

>"When...I was born, my mother almost died. She was in critical condition after she finished giving birth to me."

"How does that explain why he hits you?...is that how you got your-"

>"No. I was born like this. My father says I'm a mistake. He says that my mom should have never suffered that much to give birth to me."

>She can no longer speak as her cries get louder.

>You no longer want to see this girl cry.

>With nothing else to do, you kiss her.

>Her silence is a welcome one, as this act goes on for several minutes.

>As you break from your kiss you look at her.

"I don't want you to say anything else. I just want you to know that I'm here for you, and always will be."

>"...Promise?"

"Promise."

>With that said, she smiles and you two look up at the sunset.

>It's strange how instead of looking at that, you find yourself gazing into her eyes.

>All of this happened because of her eyes. The bullying, the domestic abuse, all of it.

>You know that you want to be there for her, and you will be, no matter how hard it gets.

>Now that everything has passed, you look into her eyes, the only sunset you'll ever need, as the sun goes down and you both drift off into sleep, awaiting a better tomorrow.

 

                                         Part 2: Facing Tomorrow

>You slowly open your eyes

>Feeling the warm sun on your body had caused you to awaken.

>Still in a daze from the events that took place yesterday, you try your best not to wake the sleeping girl next to you

>A hill was definitely not the best place to sleep, but the peaceful look on her face made it all worth it.

>Her eyes remained closed as she continued to dream, clutching your arm.

>Seeing her smile as she rested warmed your heart more than the sun ever could

>Thank God that there's no school today, despite it being a Friday.

>The fall formal must be pretty big if they closed school just to plan it, weeks before it's even supposed to happen.

>At least you have some free time.

>Having the whole day to spend with Derpy almost makes you want to do nothing but sleep next to her.

>Seeing as how that would probably bore her though, you decide against it.

>You want to do everything you can with this girl today, as if you'll never see her again.

>What better time to start then now?

>You look at Derpy. Her smile is wider than normal and her breathing isn't as steady

"I know you're faking"

>She opens her eyes and looks at you playfully, allowing you to bask in their golden glow.

>"Just four more minutes Non-...Anon"

>Your heart sank a bit from hearing her slip of the tongue

>You felt sorry for being the cause of her sudden sadness, but you don't want anyone calling you Nonny anymore.

>Not after what happened.

>Without trying to do more damage than you've already done, you smile as she nuzzles her head into your chest.

>You both stay there for a while longer before you get up to enjoy the rest of the day.

 

>You and Derpy head back to your house so you can change.

>There was no trouble waiting for you inside since your parents were never home.

>They were always either working or out with each other

>Words were barely exchanged between you and them when they were home.

"More time to myself I guess..."

>You realize Derpy heard you and quickly change the subject as you head for the shower.

>The gentleman inside of you takes over as you hand Derpy a towel and let her shower first.

>Sitting in your room, you listen to Derpy as she sings in the shower

>A creep is something that you are not. It's just hard not to hear her.

>Her voice when she sings is something that will never be forgotten.

>You listen intently as you make out the lyrics to the very interesting song that she's singing.

>"Solitude comes easy you see."

>"When the world rejects you for being"

>"Off-putting glances and menacing stares"

>"They shouldn't bother me but why do I care?"

>"How come I'm not worth half as much to my peers"

>"When I'm only being human?"

 

>"Why was I cursed with these hideous eyes?"

>"Why can they not realize that hiding inside"

>You fail to notice Derpy come into your room while your man tears were being shed.

>Your eyes meet hers as she stands there, frozen, while you yourself sit heartbroken.

>Soon your eyes begin to notice the rest of her body.

>Her arms and legs are glistening in the light of your room as water falls from them.

>It is truly a sight to see as she stands in your room with no clothes on.

>You shut your eyes as quickly as you can.

>You wonder what she's like when you're not around

>Being so lonely all the time must do a number on her mental state.

>Whenever you see her though, she's completely normal, if not a bit clumsy.

>The both of you trip on each other twice while running.

>Eventually, Derpy leads you to a not so crowded street, and practically carries you as the both of you go down it.

>You guess she's been here before.

>Your fat ass on the other hand, refuses to leave the house.

>The owners, Mr. and Mrs. Cake, greet Derpy happily when they see her.

>The owners seem to be leaving with their children, so you assume they have other employees as you make your way to the register.

>A wild Pinkie Pie appears from under the counter, almost giving you a heart attack.

"Pinkie Pie? You work here?"

>"I don't just work here silly, I live here!"

>You wouldn't have guessed it. Given her personality, you thought she might work at a dance club, or some other kind of party related job.

>The fact that she lives here is even more unexpected.

>Derpy orders a muffin for the two of you and you both sit down at a table.

>You notice that she didn't ask Derpy for any money when she ordered

>Derpy must really know the Cakes

>Celestia herself must have blessed this muffin, as it is the single greatest thing that you have ever tasted.

>This is where the thin come to die.

>"How's your muffin Anon?"

"This is amazing"

>"I know right. This place has the best muffins."

>You do nothing but agree as you finish your muffin as fast as humanly possible

>She giggles at this as you move to order two more muffins

>That plan is interrupted as two figures stroll into the room

>One of them was an obvious douche whose name you can't seem to remember.

>The other one's name you'll never forget.

>All you've ever done is see her torment the other kids in your school on a daily basis.

>The only ones here now are you, Derpy, Pinkie, and those two.

>Your eyes turn to Derpy as the smile she had fades away.

>You look back at the cause of this as you prepare to face a Sunset that you'd rather not see.

 

>"Well look who it is?"

>Sunset Shimmer's eyes have made their way to you and Derpy

>Meanwhile, the person who's with her makes his way towards Pinkie.

>"Hi there! What can I get you?"

>"Nothing. I wouldn't eat this trash if you paid me to."

>"And of course you'd be the one working here. Trash always attracts more trash."

>"That's not very nice! This place is wonderful! I like living here."

>That set him off as he bursts into laughter

>"Sweet Celestia that's sad! How'd that happen? Did mommy and daddy not want you anymore?"

>"It's just that you're an embarrassment to them?"

>"No! I'm not an embarrassment! I chose to live here!"

>Finish her!

>"That makes it better for them. I wouldn't want some bitch with ADD as my child either."

>Pinkie is on the verge of tears, something that you've never seen before.

>You've never seen her without a smile on her face since you transferred.

>If her hair was a balloon, his words were needles.

>You can literally see it deflate as she runs upstairs.

>This really hits home as Derpy shuts up as quickly as she spoke.

>Flash decides to go after you.

>"You really hang out with this failed abortion? Where's your dignity?"

"Where's Tails?"

>Flash grabs you by your shirt, trying to intimidate you.

>"You wanna go punk?"

>You push him off of you.

"I've been wanting to go since you two came in. You coming Derpy?"

>Derpy nods happily as you too head for the door.

>"You're dead. Say hi to the homeless shelter for me"

"Say hi to Amy for me."

>And with that, you too leave.

 

>"Sorry Anon, I didn't think that they would be there."

"That's fine Derpy. I still have a whole day to hang out with you, so I don't mind."

>She blushes from hearing you say that.

"Is there an arcade around here?"

>"Yeah it's down the street. You don't get out much, do you?"

"Not since my parents moved here for their jobs."

>"How was life before you came here? Did you have any friends?"

"Not really. I've hated the people over there ever since-"

>You catch yourself, realizing that you've said more than you wanted to.

>"Since what Anon?"

>She simply nods before she grabs your hand and runs toward to arcade

>Her hands are soft, and you blush a bit from holding them.

>She giggles when she sees this

>That doesn't mean that she let go.

>You think about how you could get used to this as she leads you into the arcade.

 

>The both of you tied in almost every game.

>She's surprisingly good at Dance Dance Revolution

"How'd you get so good at this game?"

>"I've had a lot of time to work on my sight problems. I can see straight most of the time so with practice, I got really good at this game."

>You give her a thumbs up to acknowledge her efforts.

>Your pride was hurt when she laughed at you for doing so, but you shrugged it off as you headed towards one of those two-player shooters.

"Look out Derpy!"

>You say this as you shoot a giant spider that was about to jump on her.  

>The two of you ended up shooting each other's monsters instead of your own for the whole game.

>Beating the entire game, you decide to leave the arcade.

"Do you know any good places to eat?"

>"Sure I do Anon!"

>She grabs your arm as she leads you down the road.

>She takes you to what looks like a mall.

>A pretty deserted mall, to be exact.

>There were only a handful of people in there when you walked in.

>Derpy makes her way to the small food court inside of the building.

>You both order Chinese food

>Derpy jumps back at how surprised you are when they ring up your order.

"It's only five dollars!? How is that even possible!?"

>"I never have that much money, so I had to find places where I didn't need as much."

>This girl is beyond frugal.

>They hand you a number and you decide to explore the clothes section a bit.

>Derpy splits from you to check out some games.

>Searching through the clothes, you find an outfit that looks exactly like Derpy's.

>The whole outfit is only 4 dollars, yet you didn't see more than two of these in her room, all filled with various holes.

>Your thoughts go back to Sunset Shimmer in the bakery.

>Half of you wanted to Chris Brown her right then and there, but the other half knew that there was truth in her words.

>You knew her situation at home though, so only you and Derpy knew that she had no other choice but to come to school like that.

>Your blood boils at the thought of her and Flash tormenting Derpy when you get back to school.

>Making up your mind to buy the outfit, you make your way to the counter.

>Derpy was looking at games when you bought it, so she didn't notice.

>Your number is called and the two of you grab your lunch and sit down.

>You two laugh as you try to count how many games Ratchet and Clank has and whether light or dark eco is better.

>As you rage about how the new Smash bros. is only for Wii U, Derpy notices the bag.

>"What's in the bag Anon?"

"It's just something I bought for you"

>Her eyes widen when she sees the clothes.

"I figured you might need a new one of these-"

>She practically jumps over the table to give you a hug

>"Anon this is the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me"

>You try your best not to cry at how sad that sounds.

>"...Why did you do this?"

 

>This makes you think.

>Why did you do this?

>You don't like Sunset Shimmer or Flash, but you wouldn't buy whole outfits for whoever's clothes they made fun of.

>Derpy was...different though.

>She's someone who actually talked to you instead of ignoring you like everyone else did.

>Somehow, you knew that she'd do the same thing even if she had a clique like everyone else.

>She wasn't the kind of girl who'd be in a clique though

>She was someone who loved playing games with you, and who you loved playing games with.

>She was someone who always made the best of what was given to her, and found a way to work around it.

>This girl wasn't like the others at school

>She...wasn't like the people from your old school either.

>No matter who talked down to her or made fun of her, she just got up and kept moving.

>You wanted to do more than just protect her.

>This was someone that you never wanted out of your life.

>Looking deep into her eyes, the truest words that you have said in a long time come out of your mouth.

"I...did it because i care about you Derpy"

>Her whole face turns red.

"Yeah. Even though everyone else may not see it, you're special Derpy. I've never seen someone handle so much in her life, yet still be able to put a smile on their face. You're the first person to really talk to me since I came here, as pathetic as that sounds. I've...never really had a close friend before. That's why I don't wanna mess this up by asking you out...I...I just want to be with you.

>This sends her over the edge as she starts to cry while hugging you tighter.

>"I've never had anyone care about me before! The only one who's ever paid me any attention was my mom. I don't care if we date or not either. I just want you here with me. I don't want to be alone anymore."

"You won't have to be."

>You let his finish crying in your chest before you both get up and leave the mall.

>Once you're outside, Derpy stops you.

>"A-Anon?"

"Yeah?"

>"Do you think w-we could...do this again sometime?"

>Her golden eyes are staring at you, scared of the answer that you might give her.

"I'd love that"

>She smiles as you take her hand in yours and begin to walk towards her house.

>Nothing today could have prepared you for what you were about to see.

 

>Her house was as mess.

>Her windows were all shattered. Everything she owned was on the ground.

>And in the middle of it all was Diana, badly bruised and on her knees, crying.

>"Mom! What happened!?"

>Derpy's mom stands up, places her hands on her daughter's shoulders and begins to tell her what happened.

>"After you two left, I tried to talk with your father. No matter what I said to him, he still wouldn't come to his senses. I-...I told him I was leaving him, and he went ballistic. He threw all of our stuff out the window and stormed out the house. I haven't seen him since last night. I just stepped outside a few minutes ago and now...now!"

>Tears run down her face as she tries to force the words out of her mouth.

>"We need to leave, Derpy"

>"Where are we gonna go?"

>"I don't know, but we can't stay here. I"m tired of being hurt Derpy, and I'm tired of seeing you get hurt. I don't want this for you."

>Watching this scene is too much for you.

>You can't help but feel responsible for this.

>You have to do something

>You need to protect her

>She can't leave your life now.

"...What if you stayed with me?"

>Both of their heads turn to look at you.

>"I couldn't ask you to do such a thing Anonymous."

>"She's right Anon. We couldn't do that"

"I can't just leave you here. It's my fault for trying to fight him, even if he did deserve it."

>"Anon that wasn't your fault."

"My fault or not, my mind is made up."

>"But Anon-"

>You shush her before she can say another word.

"I don't want you to leave my life as quickly as you came into it. Let me help you."

>They both nod as they gather their stuff into a cart that they own and follow you to your house.

>Your parents were actually home for once so you explained everything to them then and there.

>Surprisingly, they were proud of you for "doing the right thing" and agreed to let them stay here.

>Guess they really do come through for you when you need them.

>After helping them get settled in their rooms, Diana in the guest room and Derpy in your sister's old room next to yours, it was time to go to bed.

>After all that happened today and yesterday, you still can't believe that you'd meet girl like this, let alone live with her.

>In the end, you're pretty happy with the way that things turned out.

>She gets to stay in your life, and you get to fulfill your promise of protecting her.

>Everything seems to be working out.

>You even sorta kind of confessed to her.

>You've only known her for two days though, so you decided to take things slow before the two of you think about getting serious.

>That still didn't stop her from sneaking into your bed after the lights went out though.

>"Hey Anon? Do you mind if I sleep here for tonight? I..don't like going to bed alone."

"Sure thing Derpy. That'd make me happy"

>A sigh of relief and happiness escapes her mouth as she climbs into bed with you.

>The two of you embrace each other lovingly as sleep washes over you.

>Tomorrow...was a good day.

                                         Part 3: Unwelcome Dawn

>You can feel Derpy's arms shake you, ruining any chance you had of getting more sleep.

>Even though this has become a daily thing for you now, you still try to persuade her to let you sleep a bit longer.

"Baby nooo! Five more minutes, please."

>Hold up, what did you just say?

>You move from underneath your covers to catch a glimpse of Derpy's face

>Her face is a tomato

>Yours is as red as marinara sauce

>You try to save the situation before your room becomes a spaghetti garden

"I...um"

>The redness in her cheeks fade as her mouth forms a smile

>"I'm gonna head back to my room since I still need to get ready. Make sure that you're dressed or else I'm leaving you, honey."

>And with that she heads out the door of your room, but not before giving you a little wink.

>With you alone in your room, your mind races as it tries to make sense of what had just happened.

>Out of all the thoughts in your mind however, one stands out above the rest.

>Today has to be the day.

 

>You've been living with Derpy for what feels like forever now, even though it's only been two months.

>Her waking you up in the morning is just one of the many things that you've gotten used to having in your house.

>Her singing in the shower, your late night game sessions...her staying in your room from time to time, have all become an important part of your life.

>Derpy's not the only one who's entered your life though.

>Since they both moved here, Diana has been like a second mother to you.

>She's pretty much the only real mother figure in your life now.

>Your parents always had some ulterior motive for everything they did.

>The only reason they let them stay here with you was so they wouldn't feel bad about leaving you when they "suddenly" had to transfer to a new city for their jobs.

>Something tells you that they've known for a while though and were only covering it up.

>They've been gone for a couple of weeks now so it's just you, Derpy, and Diana.

>With these two in your life, you actually feel like you're part of a real family.

>The only difference being that if this was real, then you'd have a problem for being in love with your sister.

>Even though you've felt this way for a while, you still haven't told her.

>The two of you aren't even going out, but you plan on changing that today.

>After getting dressed, you head out of your room and see Diana getting ready for work.

>"My daughter giving you a hard time again, Anon?"

>There's a smile on her face as she says this. Diana loves seeing Derpy happy.

"She just wanted me to hurry up, that's all. Nothing out of the ordinary"

>"I don't think that calling each other 'baby' and 'honey' is an ordinary thing for you two"

>She laughs as your face turns red again. You and Derpy weren't exactly quiet when you said that.

"Y-yeah. It was a slip up on my part. We are running late though, so I better get going"

>"Fair enough. I don't want to keep you so you can go...oh, and Anon?"

"Yeah?"

>"Good luck today"

"Y-you know?"

>"I'm not dense, Anon. I've seen how you two act around each other. You're not exactly hiding it, and I can tell when Derpy sneaks into your room."

>Oh god she knows. Everything's ruined now! You knew you should have stopped that sooner.

>You're about to apologize for everything, but can't when Diana pulls you into a hug

>"But know that I'm behind you 100 percent. I've never seen my daughter this happy, and I want you to keep her that way. You're like a son to me, and I'm glad that you're the one she chose to be friends with."

>You tear up a little at not just her words, but the hug that she's giving you. You can't remember the last time that your real mother ever gave you a hug, and you didn't know how badly you wanted one until now.

>You wrap your arms around your new mom as tight as you can. You never want this feeling of happiness to end

>She lets you go and gives you a kiss on your forehead.

>Don't want to keep Derpy waiting now, she might get jealous.

"Oh right I almost forgot!"

>Before you rush out of the door, you turn and give Diana one last hug.

"Thanks, mom."

>"Anytime, sweetie. You and Derpy be safe now, okay?"

"We will. Have fun at work!"

>And with your mother"s blessing, you head out the door to catch up to Derpy.

 

>You catch up to Derpy after a couple of minutes. She stops and glares at you when you do.

>"Took you long enough! After trying so hard to make sure you were ready, you still don't have the courtesy to at least not make me wait.

"I'm sorry Derpy, I was talking to mom"

>Oh no. You've done it now.

>"Mom!? I see how it is. You put me on the back burner just so you could get close to my mom!"

"Derpy it wasn't like that! She was just wishing me luck on today, that's all."

>"Wishing you luck on what, exactly?"

"I can't tell you."

>"So now you're gonna keep secrets from me!? I thought we were friends Anon!

>Seeing her get jealous is too cute, but today is not a good day for her to be mad at you.

>You get down on one knee as you grab her hand and kiss it.

"It's a surprise, Derpy. I'm sorry for getting you all worked up. I promise to never keep a beautiful girl like you waiting again."

>The red tint in her cheeks is just the reaction you were hoping for as you see her calm down

>"W-well, I'll forgive you this time. Let's just head to school"

"Sure thing, milady"

>This earns you a punch in the arm as you two start running to make it to school on time.

 

>As hard as you both tried, you still get to school late.

>The two of you walk into class, feeling like nothing could ruin your day.

>The gods of the universe laugh at you however as the both of you bump into Sunset Shimmer, knocking her down.

>You prepare yourself for the worse as you move in front of Derpy to protect her.

>You're taken aback as Sunset simply stands up and smiles.

>"Good morning, Anon. Good morning, Derpy."

"Uh...good morning Sunset"

>"Would you kindly move out of the way? I have somewhere that I need to be."

>"Um, sure."

>You both awkwardly make a pathway for Sunset Shimmer.

>The whole class is watching in awe. They've never seen her act this way before.

>"Thank you, and try to be more careful next time."

>You and Derpy nod as she walks out of the classroom.

>Class resumes and you and Derpy sit down next to each other.

>"Do you know what that was about Anon?"

"Not at all. Any other time she would have yelled at us"

>"I think that she's up to something"

"You don't say?"

>This earns you your second arm punch of the day.

>"Shut up, I'm serious. That was completely out of character for her."

"Well whatever she's planning doesn't matter. I'll be here to protect you no matter what."

>"Thank you, but I'm more worried about you. I'm not the one who made her spill her lunch on her clothes on Monday."

"No, but you were the one who made her do the same thing on Tuesday."

>"You have a point...I guess we won't be able to leave each other's sides for a while."

"Fine with me. Actually, I've been meaning to ask you something"

>Her eyes stare at you with anticipation.

>"Yes, Anon?"

"Derpy, would you-"

>You get interrupted by a book to the face.

>You look up to see Discord standing over you with a smile on his face.

>"Anonymous, even though this is AP psychology, this is not the time for you to talk about your feelings. Understand?"

"Yes, I understand."

>"Good"

>He goes back to his desk and continues with his lesson

>Looks like this'll have to wait.

 

>The rest of class slowly goes by as you wait for your chance to talk to Derpy.

>Discord is a teacher that you don't want to upset, so you and Derpy don't talk to each other for the rest of the class period.

>Class eventually ends for lunch though and you practically jump out of your seat.

>The students quickly empty the classroom to go to the cafeteria.

>You decide to take Derpy outside. You want any interruptions when you say what you wanted to say in class.

>Luckily, no one is in the courtyard when you finally make it outside.

>"So...what did you want to ask me?"

>Your knees chose to go weak at the worst possible time.

>You have no plans of chickening out now though. You've waited too long for this moment.

>The words thankfully fly out of your mouth

"I want to go out with you"

>You swear her eyes turn two shades brighter as her whole face lights up.

>"Really!? You mean it?"

"Eeyup. I've been meaning to ask you out for a while now. I don't think i could go another day without you being my girlfriend"

>"Is that what my mom was wishing you good luck on today?"        

"Yeah. By the way, you're not as quiet as you think you are. She can tell when you sneak into my room."

>"Oh god! I'm so sorry Anon! I can't believe I got so angry this morning. You don't have to forgive me. Oh man! Why did I have to-"

>You pull her into a kiss. You've wanted to kiss her for weeks now, so you don't hold back.

>She's apparently giving it her all too, and you two enjoy the taste of each other and the moment that you've longed for before you break away.

"You're cute when you're jealous, so I don't mind."

>"You know, you're supposed to wait for an answer before you kiss me"

"Does that mean you won't go out with me?"

>"Of course I'll go out with you!"

"Great. The reservations I made for Saturday would have gone to waste otherwise."

>"Saturday? Where exactly are you trying to go?"

"The Willow"

>"The Willow!? How'd you pull that off!?"

"I've been planning this for a while. Will you go with me?"

>"Yes! I can't wait!"

"Neither can I."

>You kiss one last time before heading inside, not noticing the red and yellow hair in the bushes.

 

>Derpy's arm was hooked with yours when you walked into class.

>You and Derpy were scared shitless when you walked into the classroom.

>The whole classroom began cheering as soon as they saw you two together.

>The guys came up to you and gave you high fives while the girls congratulated Derpy

>All of this is a bit too weird for you.

>You look over to Cheerilee, who just shrugs.

>"Well its about time Anonymous. We were wondering when you two would get together."

>It's official, this school is weird.

>You try to enjoy the sudden attention you and Derpy are getting, when Flash chimes in

>"Yeah. Who else would be more perfect for each other than the two loneliest freaks in school."

>The cheering from the class quickly turned into laughter

>You don't know if this was planned or not, but it was a petty thing to do regardless.

>You look over at Derpy, who just sighs and moves to sit down in her seat.

>Her eyes show how badly she wants to cry, which doesn't sit right with you at all.

>It's about time that you start acting like a good boyfriend.

"At least my girlfriends hair looks good on anything other than hot dogs."

>"What did you say!?"

"I said your girlfriend is a walking condiment table."

>Flash moves towards you until he is inches away from your face.

>"I'm gonna enjoy bashing your head in"

>"You won't be doing anything of the sort, Mr. Sentry"

>You look over to see Principal Celestia standing in the doorway

>"The only thing you'll be doing is staying home for a few days and helping the faculty for a few months when you come back. That includes assisting with Fall Formal preparations."

>Celestia doesn't play around.

>Making a note to yourself note to piss her off, you watch as she takes Flash out of the classroom to her office.

 

>You replay today's events while you walk home with Derpy

>Today was one of the craziest days that you've had in years

>From Sunset Shimmer's personality change, to your confession in the courtyard, to the cheering/laughing that took place in Cheerilee's class. It was all so strange to you, but one question still remained in your mind.

"Hey, Derpy?"

>"Yeah?"

"Was it really that obvious that we liked each other?"

>Derpy stops and looks at you, as if you had gone insane

>"Well, duh! All we do is talk to each other! We act like a couple who just happen to be best friends, instead of friends who want to be together"

"Well I guess I'm the only one who didn't notice."

>"I'll say. I've been waiting for you to ask me out for weeks now"

"That explains why you haven't let go of my hand for an hour now"

>She grabs your hand even tighter.

>"W-well what'd you expect? We been living together for so long, yet this is the first time I get to do this kind of thing with you."

>You stop and kiss her forehead

"Well, I'm sorry for making you wait. I just didn't want to rush things."

>The feeling of Derpy's tongue inside your mouth is a welcome one as she returns your affection.

>She breaks away from you, leaving you in a daze

>"Apology accepted, but we have a lot of making up to do for lost time."

"You know, you could have just asked me out yourself"

>"And risk getting rejected? No way! Besides, there's too much stress in asking someone out."

"So you decided to put that stress on me?"

>"Yep!"

>You want to say something, but the smile on her face is too cute to argue with

"Okay. At least everything worked out in the end"

>"That and we have our first date tomorrow!"

"Really? Where are we going?"

>The final arm punch of the day shows that Derpy is not amused

>"Three strikes, you're out! Don't play with me like that! I'm really excited fro tomorrow!"

>Looks like she was counting too.

"Okay, okay. Let's just get home okay?"

>"Alright!"

>And with that, you two dash for the house

 

>"We're home!"

>Derpy says this as you both walk into the house.

>Diana comes out from her room when she hears you

>"Hey there, you lovebirds. I'm guessing everything went well?"

>"Yep, and don't you even think about stealing him. Anon is mine."

>"Wouldn't dream of it. You don't hear me sneaking into his bed at night, do you?"

>Derpy blushes, remembering that her mother knows about that.

>"M-mom, I can explain!"

>"No need to. My ears never fail me."

>Derpy sighs, knowing that her fun is over.

>"But...I never hear anything out of the ordinary, so as long as you two play nice, I don't have a problem with it."

>"Really!? Yay! Thank you mom!"

>Derpy hugs her mom as Diana stokes her hair.

>"I'm just happy that you're happy"

"Oh yeah, before I forget, do you mind if we go on a date tomorrow?"

>"Where are you going?"

"I'm taking her to the Willow"

>Diana's eyes light up in astonishment

>"Well who am I to object to that? You go have fun tomorrow"

"We will. Thanks Diana"

>"That's mom, to you"

"Oh yeah. Thanks, mom."

>"That's better, and you're welcome"

>She then makes her way upstairs, leaving the two of you alone.

"So, what now Derpy"

>"...Jak 3?"

"Hell yeah!"

>"I heard that!"

"Sorry!"

>Taking note of Diana's supernatural hearing, you turn on your console to play with your new girlfriend.

 

>After a couple hours of Jak and Brawl, you notice how dark it is outside

"We should probably go to bed now, shouldn't we?"

>"Yeah. I'm pretty tired"

>You and Derpy make your way upstairs, trying to be as quiet as possible, for fun.

>You think you're in the clear when you hear a voice from the guest room

>"Good night, you two!"

>"N-night mom"

"Y-yeah. Goodnight"

>Diana laughs at your embarrassment as the two of you make your way into your room

>The two of you nervously get under the covers of your bed after changing.

>You'd think that being nervous wouldn't be a problem since you've done this before, but knowing that you're dating now has made things more tense than before.

>It didn't help that the both of you only slept in your underwear.

>Once the two of you got comfortable, you try to go to sleep.

>Problem is, you're so excited for tomorrow that going to sleep now would be impossible.

>Derpy seems to feel the same way as she's tossing around, still trying to get comfy

"You know, calming down would help you go to sleep faster"

>"Don't act like you're not as excited as I am. There's no way that I can sleep now"

"Well we have to go to sleep sometime, or else we'll be too tired to do anything"

>"True, true. I'll try. Goodnight Anon"

"Goodnight Derpy"

>You try go get some more sleep as you wrap your arms around Derpy

>Just when you're about to fall asleep however, Derpy asks you something

>"...Hey, Anon?

"Yeah, Derpy?"

>"...What do you know about me?"

>That seems like a weird question to ask, but you answer her anyway

"Pretty much everything I guess. I know where you grew up, you're favorite food, things you like, all of it. Why do you ask?"

>"It's just that I don't feel like I know you as well as you know me. It feels strange to not know that much about someone who knows everything about you."

"...I just don't really like to talk about myself"

>"But why is that? Don't you care about enough to want me to know about you?"

>She's really got you cornered. She's been wanting to know about you for a while now, but so far you haven't told her anything.

>You don't like talking about your past, but you know you'll have to tell her about it eventually.

>That doesn't mean that it has to be right now

"Derpy of course I care about you. I've actually been meaning to tell you more than that, but it didn't feel right"

>"What do you mean by that?"

"I mean...that I love you Derpy. I love you more than I've ever loved anything in my life, so don't you dare say that I don't care about you. My feelings for you go beyond that."

>There's a silence as Derpy processes what you just said.

>"Y-you...love me?"

"Of course I love you. That should be obvious to you. After all, you obviously knew how much I liked you for weeks. You're slipping, Sherlock"

>Derpy laughs at your comment. You love hearing the sound of her voice

>"I just didn't expect you to say it out of the blue like that, that's all"

"Well you're the one who asked"

>"Yeah. I guess you're right...I love you too, Anon"

"That's all I've wanted to hear for a long time, Derpy."

>She tries to snuggle closer to you, but jumps when you both hear Diana's voice.

>"That. Was. Beautiful! 10/10 would feel again!"

>"Mom!"

>"Sorry! I'll shut up now!"

>The two of you laugh at Diana for a bit, but it doesn't change what's on Derpy's mind

>"So...if you really care about me, even love me, why won't you tell me?"

"It's...just not something to just straight up tell someone Derpy. I promise I'll tell you when it comes up, but now isn't the right time, okay?"

>Derpy looks in your eyes for a moment. She's a bit disappointed but shows that she understands with a nod.

>"...Okay Anon, but no going back on your word, okay"

"Alright Derpy"

>"...Promise?"

"Promise"

>She smiles and finally snuggles up closer to you

>"Alright then. Goodnight Anon"

"Goodnight Derpy"

>After a while, she dozes off to sleep, leaving you awake to think.

>You don't stay awake for long, so you end up falling asleep, certain of what you said to the one you love

"Yeah...I'll tell you when it comes up"

 

>You've waited so long for this chance to come, and now it's finally here.

>You made sure to keep Diana quiet, which was easy, since she's been waiting as well.

>You get your arms into a t-rex position.

>Once you've done that, you get into a crouching position and move your arms from side to side with every step you take.

>As you walk the dinosaur over to your sleeping victim, you try your hardest not to laugh at what her reaction will be.

>3...2...1

>Finally the wait is over as your pounce on your prey.

"Open the door! Get on the floor! Everybody walk the dinosaur!"

>Derpy wakes up, startled, when she feels you land on her.

>"What!? Where am I!?"

>She kicks you off the bed in a frenzy as she tries to figure out what's happening

>Once she calms down, She looks and sees you laughing on the floor.

>"Anon! What's wrong with you!?"

>She sees Diana standing in the doorway, laughing as well.

>"That was priceless!"

"You can say that again!"

>You and Diana high five each other after you get up.

>Meanwhile, Derpy is less than amused

>"That wasn't funny"

"Of course it was funny. I've been waiting for the day that I get to wake you up"

>Derpy sighs and manages to give you a smile

>"Well, you did get me good, so I can't be that mad"

"That's the spirit. Now come on, breakfast is ready"

>Derpy gives you a kiss before you both walk the dinosaur down to the kitchen.

 

>When you arrive, Derpy cannot believe her eyes.

>Bacon, egg frittatas, pancakes, and croissants are spread across the kitchen table.

>"This looks amazing! Did you make all of this Anon?"

"Yep. I've had a lot of time to practice"

>She looks over the spread in awe, making you glad that you've had to cook for yourself for years.

>Derpy looks over to you and grins

>"What, no muffins?"

"You ate them all yesterday, remember?"

>An embarrassed giggle escapes her mouth

>While you and Derpy were gaming yesterday, she decided that it would be a good idea to

>"Oh yeah, right. Well, let's dig in!"

>You, Derpy, and Diana make quick work of the food in front of you.

>After this you take a shower, get dressed, and head out the door with Derpy.

>"Bye mom! We'll see you when we get back!"

>"Okay. Be back before midnight, and don't go to any hotels!"

"After dinner, I won't have enough to go even if I wanted to"

>"Good boy. Be safe now!"

"Okay, Bye!"

>You and Derpy wave goodbye and head outside to enjoy your first date together.

 

>As you walk into town with Derpy, she decides to ask you a question

>"So Anon, the reservation's for eight right?"

"That's right"

>"So, what are we doing until then?"

"I have no idea."

>"You didn't plan anything besides breakfast and dinner?"

"Nope."

>"...Are you gonna tell me why?"

"Yep."

>"...Can you tell me now?"

"I didn't feel like it. It's better to go on an adventure anyway, so let's just head do whatever until it's time to get ready for dinner."

>"Mmm hmmm, and the fact that dinner's so expensive had nothing to do with it right?"

"It had everything to do with it, but adventures are fun, now grab my hand."

>Derpy does as she is told and grabs your hand, only to be pulled by you as you rush into town

"ADVENTURE!"

 

>Walking around was actually a great idea.

>You never went out much, so this gave you a chance to actually learn your way around town.

>After walking around for a while, you two decide to go into the library

>You see a familiar face when you walk through the door.

>It's Twilight. You're not surprised to see her at the library

"Twilight?"

>"Oh, hello, Anonymous. I see you and Derpy are out on a date."

>"You got that right, Purple Smart."

>"That's not how you pronounce Twilight"

>"I know, it's a nickname. Friends give each other nicknames right?"

>"Y-yeah, but we don't even talk to each other."

>"Might as well start now, what do you say?"

>Derpy's been more outgoing since the two of you became friends. She still hasn't hung out with anyone besides you, but has been making an effort to be more social.

>Twilight is obviously flustered by Derpy's cheerfulness. She looks happier however when Derpy suggests being friends.

>"Sure, Derpy. Let's be friends"

>"Yay!"

>Derpy gives Twilight a hug, and turns to you while doing so

>"Come on, Anon, you too."

>"I-it's okay Derpy, he doesn't have too"

>She's right, you don't have to, but you want to.

"Alright, come here, Purple Smart.

>You join in on the hug, enjoying the feeling of having a new friend.

>Twilight's enjoying this too. She hugs the both of you as tight as she can, and you hear her begin to cry.

"You okay, Twilight?"

>"Y-yeah. I-I just...I just want to thank you both. I've been going through some things, but...it feels nice to know that I'll have someone there when I need them."

>"Well when the time comes, we'll be there"

"Yeah, Twilight. We're here for you"

>"...Thank you"

>You say your goodbyes as Twilight leaves and you and Derpy check out the books here

 

>You never would've guessed that Derpy was into books, but she moves around the library as if she's spent her whole life here.

>The two of you chat for a while as you pick out your books.

>You try to pick out a novel that interests you, but you end up settling for a comic book.

>Derpy sits down next to you as you read the comic you picked out

>You have no idea why you picked this comic out, but it turns out to be pretty interesting.

>"I see you have a thing for ponies"

>Your eyes focus on Derpy as she eyes your comic book.

"I guess I do. Should I be ashamed or something?"

>"Nah, do what you do. I don't judge."

>The smile on her face shows that she isn't just making fun of you

"I don't know why, but that makes me love you more"

>"Just don't get weird because of it"

"Gotcha. What're you reading?"

>"The Great Gatsby. It's my favorite book"

"Oh, I've read that. Why is it your favorite book?"

>"I just love it. The lengths that he goes to just to show his love for this one girl; It's too romantic for words. I always wished that could be that girl. I would have loved for someone to care about me like that growing up."

>She lowers her head and her eyes start to water.

>You hate seeing her cry

"Well I'm no Gatsby, but I'll do my best for you, Derpy"

>She looks up to you and smiles

>Her soft skin is felt on yours as she wraps you in a hug.

>"You don't have to be, Anon. I love you just the way you are."

>You want to say something, but the alarm on your wristwatch goes off.

"We better get home and change. Don't wanna be late for dinner"

>"You're right. Let's go"

>You feel her take your hand, a feeling you wouldn't give up for anything in the world, as you run home to get ready for your real date.

 

"You...look beautiful, Derpy"

>You can't stop staring at the girl in front of you

>"Thanks, Anon. You might want to close your mouth though. You're...drooling"

>Catching yourself, you notice that quite a bit of drool is on your sleeve

"S-sorry, it's just...you look amazing in gold. Goes well with your eyes, you know?"

>Redness envelops Derpy's face as she tries to hide that she's blushing

"Red looks good on you too"

>"Oh shut up, Anon. We better get going"

"Yeah, yeah. Let's get going"

>You two make your way to the Willow

>You still can't believe how fancy this restaurant is.

>Everybody from Photo Finish to Sapphire Shores seems to be here.

>You can even see Celestia and Luna sitting together at a table.

>You didn't know that school jobs paid that well, but you don't even have a job and were still able to get in.

>Sure it cost you pretty much all of your money, but it was worth it.

>Derpy is taking all of this in. She looks like she's in another world.

>Eventually, you two get seated, and your orders are brought to your table.

>"This food is amazing!"

>Derpy's going to town on the lobster she ordered

>You, on the other hand, are savoring the taste of your steak.

>"Thank you so much Anon! I don't know how I'll be able to repay you"

"You don't have to. I'm doing this because I wanted to do something nice for my girlfriend"

>"Well, this is more than just nice! I promise to do something for you after this"
