"I've got a message for you, and you're not going to like it. Pray for death."
-Prince of Darkness
>I went out and bought a notebook today to keep records in. I'm going to be studying this thing as much as possible in order to find a way to use it, or if worse comes to worse, a way to destroy it.

Hole Observations and Measurements
>The hole is 2 inches in diameter, and has no observable imperfections. It appears to have no thickness, existing in only 2 dimensions. All attempts to move it or destroy it have failed. I dug up the area around and under it, and it simply floated in the air. I don't know if it's because it has no thickness, but nothing seems to be able to physically touch the hole, instead simply passing through it, although they can still go in through the top of it. It doesn't appear to emit any light, and any light shone into it seems to disperse in the seemingly infinite blackness. Anything put into the hole suffers the same effects as the rope did: large sections missing and various markings, including scratches, gashes, and dents, all of varying sizes. It's like the place that the hole leads to is some sort of endless garbage disposal.

>Went downstairs a couple of hours after measuring the hole to check if anything had changed. I heard this horrible smacking sound coming from beneath the pot, so I decided to grab some of the makeshift weapons I'd made. They were painfully simple, as I had almost nothing to work with. My lucky dumbbell is now a primitive flail, composed of a metal rod and a chain welded to both the dumbbell and rod, my kitchen knife is now tied to the end of a wooden pole to make a crude spear, and I have a fuckheavy shield made of several dozen pieces of scrap metal lying around. It must weigh a couple hundred pounds because I couldn't lift it an inch, forcing me to drag it around. It's worth it though, because I doubt anything will be able to get through it due to the several inches of metal and sheer weight. The flail and spear are on a table a couple of feet from the hole, and the shield is set up near the stairs facing the hole. I had made some adjustments to it, so now it serves as a sort of blast shield anchored to the ground. Anyway, when I pushed the pot off of the hole, I saw what was making the slapping noises. Three purplish tentacles, each about the thickness of my pinkie, were flailing wildly in the air. Each was maybe half a foot long and were now exploring the area around the hole. I grabbed one of the dumbbells off the weight rack and heaved it at the tentacles, scoring a direct hit. Two of them were smashed into the ground underneath the dumbbell and exploded in a gout of blood. The severed appendages sunk back into the hole, along with their remains. The third tentacle, however, began to rise up out of the hole, until it became too thick to continue. It was easily as tall as the basement ceiling, about seven feet, and while it couldn't reach me, it could reach the dumbbell I had thrown. It picked it up and threw it at me so fast that I had no time to try and dodge it. Lucky for me it hit the shield, leaving an almost comical outline of the dumbbell in the metal. The tentacle had no more ammo to throw at me, so it had begun to smash into the ceiling and ground, leaving imprints wherever it hit. I picked up another one of my dumbbells and again heaved it at the tentacle, and scored another direct hit. The dumbbell clotheslined the tentacle, forcing it to the ground and nicely severing it in half. After both halves had been reclaimed by the hole, I began to survey the damage. The imprints left in the ground posed no threat, but the ones in the ceiling troubled me. While there wasn't anything above the ceiling, just dirt and grass, the prospect of the ceiling collapsing and exposing the hole to the outside world didn't sit well with me. Unfortunately, I had no real way of reinforcing the ceiling, so the best I could do was patch it up. The shield was also in pretty bad shape with the huge dent in it, something I'd have to hammer out. I fixed up what I could, placed the pot back over the hole, wrote this all down, and am now heading to bed.

Hole Measurements and Observations
>The hole has again increased in size, this time to 3 inches in diameter. It seems that the hole is increasing its size by roughly 50% each day. There must be a way to either halt its growth or destroy the hole outright, because if the growth continues at its current rate then the hole will eventually grow large enough to encompass this entire planet in a matter of months. I've also decided to begin constructing a barrier at the bottom of the stairs to prevent any things from escaping the basement. Barring any further developments, today will be a day of experimenting.

>The place that the hole leads to is either devoid of oxygen or a vacuum of some sort, as any flame entering the hole is immediately extinguished, even before the hole has time to damage the object holding the flame. The destructive property of the area inside of the hole seems to not take effect immediately, seeming to take 2-3 seconds to manifest, allowing me to safely take objects in and out with no harm, although I have to be fast. I have not tested what would happen to me if I were to put any part of my body in the hole, and do not think I will any time soon. As said before, the hole is simply floating in the air as of right now, as I had tried to remove it by excavating the area around and under it. While objects inserted through the top of the hole go into the abyss, objects that pass through from the bottom up simply phase through the hole like normal. So far I have been unable to gauge just how large the place that the hole leads to is, as all light sources dropped in have failed to cast light on anything before being destroyed or falling out of sight. Further attempts to gauge the distance, such as dropping a heavy object and listening for it to hit the bottom, have also proven useless. This may be caused by the object being completely destroyed before reaching the bottom, or due to the fact that there is no bottom. I am unable to fully test the effects of the hole until it gets larger, as its current size limits my experiments.
