  2. by Connorâ„¢
  3. -------------------------
  4.
  5. Let me begin by saying this is not a fucking Mary Sue. Jackie Estacado is a character from the video game and comic book series "The Darkness".
  6. If you don't believe me go Google it. This story will mainly make sense to those who have knowledge of the game, or comics. However, I will try
  7. to make it easy to understand for those who have NOT played/read the games/comics.
  8.
  9. PART ONE - ARRIVAL.
  10.
  11. >"Well you did well here didn't you."
  12. >"Oh shut up."
  13. >The sound of walking rings in your ears.
  14. >"What is it?"
  15. >"How the hay am I supposed to know? I'm not a..."
  16. >"A what? Huh?"
  17. >"Damn it."
  18. >"Exactly."
  19. >You feel a pain rise from your gut into your chest.
  20. >Letting out a moan of pain you attempt to open your eyes.
  21. >FUCKING LIGHT OF A THOUSAND SUNS. ABORT. ABORT.
  22. >You slam your eyes shut again.
  23. >"You see that?"
  24. >"See what?"
  25. >"It opened it's eyes, and groaned."
  26. >Huh. Sounds like 2 men.
  27. >"Well at least it ain't dead."
  28. >You would smirk if you weren't in so much pain.
  29. >You feel something bite at your long leather coat.
  30. >A muffled voice speaks by your ear, "By Celestia, he's heavy!"
  31. >"Put your back into it!" the other voice says groggily.
  32. >Whatever was biting you, lets go and begins panting.
  33. >You try to force your eyes open, but even the slightest crack of light burns.
  34. >"We'll need a wagon to move it, unless he wakes up..."
  35. >You feel your hand around, trying to work out where you are.
  36. >You grab a handful of dirt and leaves.
  37. >"It's movin' again," splutters one of the voices.
  38. >You let out a groan, your legs numb now.
  39. >"Maybe it's hurt or something," says the other voice, much clearer this time.
  40. >You open your mouth, filling your lungs with as much air as possible.
  41. >"It's waking up..." one of the voices splutters, the fear clear in his voice.
  42.
  43. -------------------------
  44.
  45. >'JAAACCCKIIIEEEE'
  46. >The voice echoes in your head.
  47. >Even now it taunts you, laughing at your injuries.
  48. >You need to get out of the light, quickly.
  49. >Bringing your hand up to your face, you try to move.
  50. >"Uhh...Boss?"
  51. >You shield your eyes from the sun with your fingers.
  52. >Slowly, you prize open your eyes.
  53. >"Boss, now would be a good time to do something."
  54. >You begin to take in your surrounds...
  55. >Tall, dark barked trees seem to stretch all around you.
  56. >Their leaves doing nothing to hide the sun.
  57. >"Wait until it gets up...Then we'll decide what to do."
  58. >The ground around you is rough and grassy.
  59. >'STAAAYYYY awaayyy....FROM THE LIGHT!'
  60. >Ugh...
  61. >You push your body up, a sharp pain stabbing your spine.
  62. "AH, FUCK!"
  63. >You hear gasps near you.
  64. >"It can talk?!" they both shout in unison.
  65. >Odd, why are they shocked?
  66. >Slowly, you turn your head to the two voices.
  67. >Before stood two... well, they looked like horses. Little ones at least.
  68. >What are small horses called again? Ponies? Yeah, that's it.
  69. >These two ponies had been speaking. You knew it.
  70. >A look of shock was frozen on their faces.
  71. "Uhh..." you began,
  72. "Can you...talk?"
  73. >They nodded slowly...
  74. >"Y-Yes..." one of them spat out.
  75. >WELL DONE JACKIE, YOU ARE OFFICIALLY INSANE!
  76. >Your head began to hurt, you vision blurred.
  77. >Last thing you remember, you were falling to the ground.
  78.
  79. -------------------------
  80.
  81. Some time later...
  82.
  83. >You awake to find yourself in a dark room.
  84. >Bolting upright, your eyes adapt to the light.
  85. >The dusty room has a strong hay smell.
  86. >'Feeellingg beeetttteerrr?' the voice you had come to hate growled.
  87. "Shut up." you snapped.
  88. >You are laying in a small bed, one of your legs hanging off of it.
  89. >The curtains are shut, the only light is a couple of candles in the corner.
  90. >You take a look around the room.
  91. >The furniture was awfully small, even the bed you are lying in look like it was fit for a child.
  92. >Throwing your other leg off the bed, you get to your feet.
  93. >A note is lying on the bedside table.
  94. >You swipe it up and bring it up to eye level.
  95. >The writing is some foreign language that seems similar to russian, but with traces of other languages.
  96. >You throw the note back on the table and check yourself.
  97. >Jacket? Check.
  98. >Pants, shirt and underwear? Check.
  99. >Boots? Che-wait.
  100. >One of your boots is missing.
  101. >Looking around you find that it is no-where to be seen.
  102. "God damn it!"
  103. >You hear shuffling at the door standing at the other end of the room.
  104. >"Umm..." a soft voice begins.
  105. >"A-Are you awake?" it continues.
  106. >You stare at the door, listening closely.
  107. >The voice was definitely female.
  108. >The sound of hooves is barely audible as whoever it was walks away.
  109. >Wait...Hooves.
  110. >You remember the talking horses from before, and sway on your feet a little.
  111.
  112. -------------------------
  113.
  114. >You shuffle towards the door, cautious of how much noise you make.
  115. >'Jaaaccckkii-'
  116. "Shut up!" you snap.
  117. >Oh shit.
  118. >The soft sound of hooves makes its way to the door.
  119. >Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck.
  120. >You look at the door handle as it begins to move.
  121. >As the door opens you back away from it.
  122. >Standing in the doorway is a small yellow pony with long trailing pink hair.
  123. >The thing that stands out most to you though is the appendages attached to it.
  124. >Not only is it a yellow pony, it has wings.
  125. >Fucking. Wings.
  126. >You stand in shock, staring at the small pony's wings.
  127. >"Umm..."
  128. >Your brain is going to overload at this point.
  129. >Talking ponies.
  130. >And this one has wings.
  131. >"How're you doing?" it asks in a caring tone.
  132. >"I hope you're feeling better," it continues in its soft voice.
  133. >You struggle to speak as words fail you.
  134. "Uh...I...Um..." you splutter.
  135. >The small yellow pony looks at you slightly confused.
  136. >You stop trying to talk and attempt to collect yourself.
  137. >"Are you hungry?" the pony asks.
  138. >Come to think of it, you are a bit peckish...
  139. >You clear your throat and breathe deeply.
  140. >Just as you are about to speak, the winged pony smiles and trots off.
  141. "Hey!" you shout after her.
  142. >She shoots into the corner, cowering behind her hooves.
  143. "Umm..."
  144. >She looks from behind her hoof at you.
  145. >You stand there, unsure of what to do.
  146. >'FEED ON THE WEEAAAAKKKKK!' screams the voice of your tormentor.
  147. >Letting out a groan you force the voice away.
  148.
  149. -------------------------
  150.
  151. >"S-Sorry..." the pony splutters.
  152. "It's okay, its just you didn't let me reply," you say somewhat disgruntled.
  153. >The yellow pony stands up and smiles at you.
  154. >"I look after a lot of animals, so its odd looking after one that can speak..."
  155. "I see...it's odd for me speaking to a talking pony."
  156. >The pony looks up at you confused.
  157. >"I don't understand..."
  158. >You stand there silent for a moment.
  159. >"Y-You can explain later..if you want..."
  160. "That'd be better, allow me to collect my thoughts."
  161. >It'd probably be better to figure out where you are, who this pony is and why the hell it can talk before telling it anything.
  162. >You follow the pony out of the room, only to find yourself in a living room.
  163. "Your bedroom is downstairs?"
  164. >"No...but the guest bedroom is," the pony replies.
  165. "Oh, okay."
  166. >As you walk further into the room, you realise it is full of pet supplies.
  167. >There are all manner of pet foods on the shelves and sat agaisnt the wall.
  168. >Bird perches, new and old, sit on the window ledges and hang from the ceiling.
  169. "You weren't kidding when you said you look after a lot of animals..."
  170. >"Oh no, I look after all kinds of critters."
  171. >The pony points with a hoof out of the window.
  172. >"I even let some stay here from time to time."
  173. >You look out of window to see chicken coops and a group of assorted animals sat in the garden.
  174. >"I-I feel so sorry for them when they're hurt..." it continues, the sadness in its voice clear.
  175.
  176. -------------------------
  177.
  178. >"Then...when those nice ponies brought you here, I-I just had to help you!"
  179. >You can't help but feel in debt to this caring pony.
  180. "I don't mean to be rude but...where exactly is here?" you interupt.
  181. >"Oh well...T-This my cottage, its on the edge of Ponyville..."
  182. "Ponyville? You mean there is a village of onies like you?"
  183. >"Well, um, yes, we can hardly wander around the Everfree Forest all day. I-It's s-scary in there..."
  184. >The pony visible shakes, obviously scared just by the thought of the Everfree Forest.
  185. >"S-So...Do you have a name? You don't have to tell me...not if you don't want to...."
  186. >You think it over for a moment...Can you trust this pony?
  187. >Your mind wanders to intimidating the pony...
  188. >'Jaaaccckkkiieeeeeee....'
  189. "My name is Jackie...What's yours?"
  190. >The pony mumbles something under its breath.
  191. "Didn't quite catch that..."
  192. >The pony avoids looking at you, and takes to staring at the ground.
  193. >"I'm..Flut-" it whispers.
  194. "Flutter what now?" you question.
  195. >"Fluttershy..."
  196. "Fluttershy? That's a nice name. My name is Jackie."
  197. >"J-Jackie?"
  198. "Yup," you answer.
  199. >Fluttershy smiles at you and wanders off into another room.
  200. >You look around the cluttered room again.
  201. >"Umm..J-Jackie..." the soft voice calls.
  202. "Yes Fluttershy?"
  203. >"D-Do you like fish?"
  204. "Fish? It depends..."
  205. >"Ohh, well...I don't really have much else...other than vegetables..."
  206. "Fish will be fine."
  207.
  208. -------------------------
  209.
  210. >After spending several hours with Fluttershy in her cottage, you decided to go for a walk.
  211. >Fluttershy had decided to tag along so she could make sure you didn't accidentally wander into "The big scary forest"
  212. "I'm sure I would realise if I walked into the forest Fluttershy."
  213. >"O-Oh but you could have got lost and hurt yourself again!" she cries.
  214. "Fluttershy, I am not an animal! You don't have to look after me," you shout.
  215. >She looks at the ground disheartened, clearly upset by your statement.
  216. "Fluttershy...I don't mean to be harsh but, you're treating me like I can't look after myself."
  217. >She sniffs quietly and nods in acceptance.
  218. >"I-It's just..." she starts.
  219. >"I'm sorry..it's just I didn't want you to get hurt again, an-and if you did...I'd all be my fault."
  220. >You see tears form in her eyes.
  221. "Fluttershy, it's okay. You have nothing to be sorry for."
  222. >You stop and kneel down on one knee.
  223. >She stops next to you and turns her body to face you.
  224. >You bring her into a hug and run your hands through her mane.
  225. >She sniffs and pulls herself away from you.
  226. >"I-I think I know someone who will want to see you..."
  227. >You perk up slightly.
  228. "Really? Who might that be?"
  229. >"W-Well...Twilight is always interested in new things, and seen as you are the only..."
  230. >She looks you up and down.
  231. >"Umm..."
  232. >You suddenly realise how foreign you are to this land.
  233. "Human?" you ask.
  234. >"Yeah...Hu..Hoo..."
  235. >Fluttershy tries to pronounce it several times before finally managing to pronouncing it correctly.
  236. >"H-Human."
  237.
  238. -------------------------
  239.
  240. >"W-we should...get going...before the sun sets..." Fluttershy mumbles.
  241. "Lead the way."
  242. >You follow Fluttershy, who looks around every so often at the birds and small animals that are scuttering about.
  243. >"I've never seen a...human...before. W-Where do you come from?"
  244. "Well, I was born in Manhattan..."
  245. >"Manhattan? You mean Manehattan?" Fluttershy questions.
  246. "Manehattan? Never heard of it. And seen as I'm "the only human" here I doubt it." you sigh.
  247. >Fluttershy looks at you confused, but then turns to watch where she is going.
  248. "Anyways, I was born in Manhattan but my mom died giving birth to me..."
  249. >You mind flickers back to memories of her and your father.
  250. >This thoughts soon become hatred as you remember how your father sent you to an orphanage because he didn't want you.
  251. "And then that damn bastard sent me to an orphanage. The cheap, lazy son-of-a-bitch that he is didn't even want his own son!"
  252. >You stop and snort angrily.
  253. >Fluttershy stops and turns around.
  254. >She looks at you with saddened eyes, brimmed with tears from your story.
  255. >You take a deep breath and look at Fluttershy.
  256. "You don't need to hear my story, it ain't a nice one."
  257. >She nods and continues forwards.
  258.
  259. >After walking for roughly 15 minutes you arrive at a colourful town of busy ponies.
  260. "Is this...Ponyville?" you ask.
  261. >Fluttershy smiles and nods at you.
  262. >"Come on, before Twilight goes out somewhere and we miss her...If you want to go that is...
  263. >You have a feeling this "Twilight" might not like you as much as Fluttershy...
