Hope you like it, Colors!   >You sigh in relief after finishing your last line of your poem. >The smiling audience in front of you clap their hooves together. >Good, your poem wasn't too bad! >You take a small bow before the audience and walk off the stage. >The leader of the poetry club, whom you call simply Verse, walks on stage and takes the stand. >"Give another warm applause to Ms. Colors for her beautiful poetry!" >You smile at the crowd again as they oblige to the stallion's command. >You did not expect your poetry to be that great. >It kind of just... happened in your head and you wrote it on paper! >Verse then wraps up poetry night by thanking everypony for attending and listening to the wonderful poets. >The audience gets up from their seats and either walk out of the building or talk to the other poets here. >You look around to see if anypony wanted to speak to you. >You only get the few occasional sayings like "Your poem was great!" or "I love your works!" >You don't mind that at all. >Verse then walks up to you with a smile on his face. >"Ms. Colors!" said Verse. >You look at the old stallion wearing his same formal attire. "Hey Verse!" >"Great job on the poem!" "Heh, it's nothing really." >"Nothing? It was beautiful!" >You shrug. "Thank you." >Verse gives you a pat on the shoulder, "Oh don't be so modest! Your poetry is absolutely superb!" >You always get praise from this stallion. >But it's nice to hear what he has to say about your poetry. >"I heard it's your birthday today?" said Verse. >You nod. >"Do you plan on going somewhere tonight?" >You shake your head. "Not really. Just staying home and relax for tonight." >"You're not going out with your friends or anything? You look like the social kind of mare." >Eh, he's not wrong. >But he's not right either. "Just staying at home is fine." >Verse adjusts his glasses and shrugs, "Alright then, happy birthday and have a good night!" >He then walks away and goes to the other poets while you are waving good bye at him. >While Verse is conversing with the poets, you grab your saddlesack full of poems, papers, and pencils and head out of the building. >You then walk home, which is not too far from the poetry building. >You start to hear something while getting near your house. >Is that... whistling? >Your curiosity got the better of you and you walk to where the whistling is coming from. >You turn the corner and see a pony under the street lamp. >The whistling is also becoming clear and the pony is whistling a strange tune. https://youtu.be/gj0Rz-uP4Mk >If your parents have taught you anything about strangers, it is to keep walking and not look at them. >But this pony isn't a stranger. >When you saw him, you instantly knew who he was. >You wonder why he is waiting by your house. >You walk up to the whistling blue pony and has a stylish black mane. >He notices you, stops whistling, and smiles. >"Hey Colors!" "Hey Codexes." >He runs up to you and gives you a quick hug. >Well, isn't that nice? >You hug him back and the two of you break the hug and look at each other. >"How are you?" "I came back from reading my poetry to some ponies." >"Did they like it?" "Yeah they did like it. But eh, I think I could have done better." >"Maybe you could read me one of your poems when you get the chance?" "Later. For now, what are you doing here?" >"I heard it was your birthday today." >You nod at him. "It is." >"So I wanted to take you out to somewhere nice for tonight!" "Oh?" >He nods, "I think you'll like it." >You arch your brow at him. >He is grinning at you, waiting for your response. >You were planning on just sleeping for tonight. >But... you know what? >Why not, right? >You sigh and smile back at him. "Alright." >Codex chuckles, "You're going to like this. I promise." >He gestures you to follow him and you oblige. >"It's a little far. But it will be worth it, don't worry." >You don't mind that. >It only matters what kind of place he's leading you. >... >After the long walk in the night, he leads you to a familiar looking manor. >It is too dark for you to get the whole picture of the manor. >You walk besides Codex and look at him. "Codex, what is this?" >He only grins and the two of you walk up the front door. >He then knocks on the door and you and Codex wait. >You could hear some rushed hoofsteps on the other side of the door before silence took over. >What now? >"Oh, they're not home?" >Who isn't home? >Suddenly, the door unlocks and opens wide. >Like the night, the other side is completely dark and you are unable to see what is in the shadows. >"Well, let's head inside. I'll turn on the lights." >Codex walks in the dark manor until he slips in the darkness. >You are standing by the door, unsure if you want to go in or not. >I mean come on! >Your friend just led you to what could be an unknown manor and he hasn't told you what it is. >Then again, considering that it is your birthday today and this is Codex's doing... >You sigh. >Time to brace yourself. >You walk in the manor and to the darkness while the door slams shut. >After a few seconds of standing in the dark, there is a bright light that blinds you. "Wha-?!" >You shield your eyes from the light with your foreleg. >"Surprise!" >After the light began to die down, you lower your foreleg and see who it is. >It's... all of your friends. >"Happy Birthday Colors!" they all said in unison. >You look at all of them with your shocked expression on your face. >Owlnon, Lazer, Pinkamena, Slowanon, Vex, Afterman, Luna... >Also with the group of artists and writers is Eri, Connie, Rest, Bambi, Kira, Paper, and Mellow. >You remember what this manor is now. >This is the place where Codex and Luna gathered everyone up and brought them here to meet each other as friends. >Best friends even. >Codexes jumps out of the group and goes up to you with a smile on his face. "I-Is this...?" >He nods, "There's more than just us though." >More?! >"It's in the kitchen. Come on!" >You follow him again and widen your eyes to see what is on the kitchen table. >There are many presents and cards on the table and even a large birthday cake with candles on it. "Wow..." >You couldn't help but let the sight of this bring a tear in your eye. >"Are you crying?" said Codex. >You wipe the tear away and quickly nod at Codex. "I-It's just... this is so much..." >"You're a great friend to all of us, Colors. I think you deserve this." >You look at your smiling friends behind you and grin. "Thank you all so much..." >...
