  1. Hey Journal. It's me. I know it's been a while but what can I say?
  2.
  3. Life moves fast in this ever growing town of ours. New faces, discoveries, hazards and triumphs seem a regular occurence, and there's a unique kind of satisfaction to be had seeing it grow from the little seeds we started.
  4. It's a tough, yet fulfilling life no doubt and I wouldn't have it any other way.
  5.
  6. Anyway, back to the point. Turns out I'll be adding Winter Prep to my list of jobs. We're making strides to improve the housing for as much people as we can and I'm chipping in with Slipstraw insulation. So I'll be putting these instructions up because this is something we'll need quite a few people working on.
  7.
  8. Here's the basic gist. The wallframe's up and not fully built yet right?
  9.
  10. 1. Mix together Straw, Water and Subsoil with your hooves. That's the soil just underneath the first layer of soil. It has clay properties and there's a visible difference. Make sure someone is occasionally pouring some water at regular intervals onto the pile whilst the mixing takes place. You don't wanna drown the whole thing. The end result should be clumpy, whilst damp and isn't falling apart. Good job. You now have Slipstraw. You're gonna need a lot.
  11.
  12. 2. This step occurs in segments based on the frame of the wall. pack the Slipstraw mixture in between Form Planks (which act as temporary walls) to hold its position. Make sure to pack it in tightly and give it around 20-30 minutes to settle.
  13.
  14. 3. Remove the Form Planks. The Slipstraw should be upright and in place. Now build your wall around it and hey presto, Aqdequate low-tech insulation
