- CHAPTER 25
- >In less than a months time, you’ve gone from a free spirit to an enslaved commodity.
- >And losing yourself in these feelings makes you uneasy.
- >You would blame something if you could.
- >But there isn’t anything to blame.
- >Mara is an incubus.
- >The changelings feed on love.
- >He needs you.
- >They need you.
- >It’s in their nature.
- >How can you blame them?
- >You can’t. Even if you wanted to.
- >You melt in your bed, eyes locked with Mara’s as he’s tending to you delicately.
- >Everything in your conscious, right mind, is telling you to stop him. Push him away.
- >Do something.
- >But you can’t move.
- >He knows you in and out.
- >Knows exactly how to numb your body with an overload of sensations.
- >It doesn’t matter when or where it is.
- >Before or after your encounter with this demon.
- >You still can’t do anything.
- >You’re useless.
- >So you lay there.
- >For minutes. Hours.
- >You don’t know.
- >And right now, you don’t even care.
- ----------
- >You don’t know how you got here.
- >You don’t know why.
- >But something is wrong.
- >This world.
- >Mist covering absolute nothingness.
- >Floating in space.
- >This...
- >This isn’t real.
- >It’s a dream.
- >It has to be.
- >And you don’t know if you’ve ever been aware that you’re dreaming.
- >It’s a weird feeling, knowing that you’re asleep, yet feeling as though you have control of your body.
- >”Dreaming is a weird feeling, is it not?
- >You look around.
- >The voice is booming.
- >Powerful.
- >You spot a small dark figure.
- >Shrouded in dark blue mist.
- >The dark silhouette creeps towards you slowly.
- >Blue clouds hovering over its body.
- >”We-... I regret not involving myself sooner.”
- >This seems like the nightmares Mara used to give you.
- >Where the world would turn black.
- >And you’d run away from a haunting creature chasing you with a demonic voice and scary claws that would rip you to shreds.
- >But you’re already in a void of nothingness.
- >And there’s nowhere to run.
- >But you’re positive this is a dream, so why should you be afraid.
- >The unknown figure is closer now.
- >This is your dream.
- >Shouldn’t you have control over it?
- >Twilight talked to you about this once before.
- >Lucid dreaming.
- >Where you could do whatever you wanted.
- >Right now, you want this figure out of your dream.
- >You try to think it out of existence, but it’s still approaching you.
- >Alright.
- >Fine.
- >Plan B.
- >You bend down and unlace your shoe.
- >You toss it at the figure, around head level, hearing a loud thud.
- >”Ow.”
- >You blink.
- >That voice.
- >It sounded familiar.
- >”HOW DARE YE TOSS THINE FOOTED GARMENT AT OUR ROYAL HEAD!”
- >You blink.
- >Wait.
- >Is that?
- “... Luna?”
- >”I believe an apology is in order.”
- >She says, handing you back your shoe.
- >Her dark shadow disappears.
- >Replacing it, color of a deep blue, with a navy blue mane hiding stars in its midst.
- >Wait, why is Luna in your dream?
- >She’s supposed to be with the others, fixing Kindness.
- >Luna looks at you with a nervous smile.
- >Is that Mara?
- >Cut the crap dude.
- >”You are well, correct?”
- >Huh?
- >Luna’s nervous smile turns into a look of concern.
- >But you’re not sure if its genuine.
- >”Anonymous?”
- >Maybe it isn’t Mara. Maybe it’s Chrysalis?
- >Every time she sucks energy from you, she gets stronger.
- >It wouldn’t surprise you if she was able to visit you in your dreams.
- >Paranoia aside, you can’t just blindly accept Luna’s sudden appearance.
- “I’m fine.”
- >You say quietly.
- >Not-sure-if-Luna’s face lights up.
- >”It brings me much joy to hear that.”
- “What are you doing here?”
- >You have to figure out a way to confirm your suspicions.
- >”This night is a full moon where my magic is greatest. My sister and your friends insisted that I reach out to you in your sleep, to check on your well being.”
- >Maybe you can trick her.
- “This is unexpected.”
- >”Unexpected?”
- >She looks insulted.
- >”Do you not realize that we are hard at work to rescue you? I must assure you Anonymous. We are doing everything that we can.”
- “I-... thanks. It’s-uh... good to see a familiar face. Glad you haven’t given up on me yet.”
- >She shoots you yet another strange look.
- >”Did you receive our message from Discord a short while ago?”
- >You blink.
- “... no.”
- >You lie.
- >Luna looks confused.
- >”He told us you were well.”
- >You shake your head.
- “Discord showed up for a brief moment when I was being attacked by a swarm of changelings... and then quickly disappeared.”
- >You carefully examine Luna’s reaction.
- >If she accepts your little lie and doesn’t try to say otherwise, she’s gotta be a fake.
- >Luna stares at you, jaw dropped.
- >”He-... Discord told us was that he managed to relay our news and was able to see you safe and sane.”
- “Safe and sound.”
- >You correct her.
- “Which, for the record, I’m not.”
- >”We should have known better than to trust the miscreant of mischief!”
- >Luna huffs.
- >Crap, she looks kinda pissed.
- >”Of course he would not-”
- “Luna wait, I got his message.”
- >”... pardon?”
- “He...”
- >You feel a little guilty for not trusting Luna.
- >Telling her that you thought she was Chrysalis would probably offend her.
- >You should probably come up with some other story.
- “He told Mara most of it.”
- >Luna tilts her head slightly.
- >”Is that so? Well...”
- >She shakes her head.
- >”At the very least, you are okay.”
- >You let out a laugh.
- “Oh, I’m absolutely, positively, PERFECTLY okay.”
- >She’s not catching your sarcasm.
- “I'm being held against my will in some dark cave in the middle of nowhere, being raped and having my essence eaten every day. But I’m totally fine. I'm almost used to it now. It's routine. Wake up, brush teeth, breakfast, rape drain and- wait, actually I don’t ever brush my teeth, they do that for me- lunch, rape, dinner, rape, ready for bed, rape and drain. I’m on the rapetrain so much that I’m fucking peachy.”
- >Luna’s speechless.
- >And very much disturbed.
- >You sigh.
- “That was a joke.”
- >A really dark joke.
- >She’s not laughing.
- >”Is that really your daily routine?”
- >You sigh and nod.
- “More or less.”
- >”Anonymous, I worry for your safety.”
- >You know, the sad part is about your little joke, is that you actually are getting used to all of this shit.
- >”Especially since the changelings could easily kill you without knowing.”
- “They won’t.”
- >Luna raises an eyebrow.
- “They need me.”
- >”Anonymous, you misunderstand... just being in the presence of these changelings is a danger to your wellbeing.”
- >Say what?
- >”The one called Chrysalis wishes to keep you captive. But you aren’t exactly the only one she’s holding prisoner.”
- “What? What do you mean, Mara’s being-”
- >”The changelings serve their queen to survive. They need the essence, which you have, to live. Imagine what would happen if the whole swarm learned that their queen is keeping secret that you are the most delectable food source in all of Equestria.”
- >You blink.
- >You aren’t exactly worried.
- >After all, you’re an unlimited supply of love for them to feast upon.
- >”Anonymous... there is no such thing as an everlasting spirit. Every light must eventually burn out.”
- >You still aren’t following.
- >Luna takes a moment to think to herself.
- >”Anonymous... you are like a candle... with a flame that burns brighter than any other p0ny, according to the one they call Chrysalis. You have an endless wick to burn, and your flame will always manage to return to its bright glow. But if they blow too hard on your flame, you will go out.”
- >You stare at her.
- “Are you... are you saying that if the changelings drain me of too much energy in one day, I could die?”
- >Luna nods.
- “Get me the fuck out of here.”
- >”I’m afraid we cannot ‘get you the fuck out’ yet.”
- >Why the hell not?
- >”We must make the Element of Kindness whole again. Though we have managed to return the blackened crystal to its former state, we have yet to find where the remaining crystal fragments may be. Without it, the Elements of Harmony are useless.”
- >You’re heartfallen.
- >They can’t save you.
- >You fidget a bit and cross your arms.
- >That means that Chrysalis is the most powerful being in Equestria.
- >As long as she absorbs energy from you, she’s got power.
- >She has you... and the entire changeling population under her control.
- >And nothing can stop her.
- >She won’t give a shit about your conditions for willingly going with her.
- >As long as she has you... she can wreak havoc on Equestria.
- >As long as she has...
- >You...
- ”Luna, tell Twilight to stop. I-... I think using the Elements is a mistake.”
- >Luna stares at you.
- >”Why would we-”
- “Chrysalis has been taunting me. She keeps saying that she’s always “two steps ahead”. I think-... I have a feeling that sending the Elements is a bad idea.”
- >”What would you have us do instead?”
- “Nothing.”
- >You take another deep breath.
- >For once in your life, you feel like you have a bit of control.
- “We’re going to stop playing her game and start playing ours. Repair Kindness if you can, but don’t come looking for me. Don’t do anything to try and rescue me. Just make sure everyone is safe. It’s the last thing she’ll expect, and the only thing she didn’t plan for.”
- >Luna narrows her gaze.
- >”What are you planning?”
- >This won’t be fun, or easy, but...
- “I’m going to make her starve.”
- >You say some departing words to Princess Luna and orchestrate a symphony of lucid dreaming while you still can.
- >Go flying.
- >Jump higher.
- >Run faster than Rainbow Dash.
- >Hug a really soft porcupine. And not get pricks and spines afterwards.
- >Play a few video games that don’t exist cause you don’t play video games.
- >Go canoeing in the Grand Canyon.
- >Eat a giant strawberry in one bite.
- ------
- >“Hey.”
- “...wha?”
- >You feel a light slap on your face.
- >It snaps you out of your dream.
- >The fuck? You were enjoying that.
- >”Anny, it’s almost evening.”
- ”And? Your point?”
- >You wanted some ice cream to compliment that giant strawberry.
- >Maybe a cookie too.
- >”We have a job to do?”
- >So being forced into sex with an incubus is now a job?
- >You roll your eyes.
- >You hear a clatter at the bedrock door.
- >It’s Eisen.
- >Or is it a Feral?
- >One of the changeling guards brings you a bowl of food.
- >”Nourishment. You should eat something today.”
- >Leaves, roots, and berries, oh my!
- “No strawberries today?”
- >”They are hard to come by.”
- >The changeling’s deep voice echoes in the bedroom walls.
- >Definitely Feral.
- >”We have milk as well.”
- “Milk?”
- >Like... milk milk?
- “How do you-”
- >”We are changelings, we can transform into a creature of your choosing.”
- “Oh.”
- >Um.
- >Yeah.
- >You’ll pass.
- >You take the bowl inside of your hands.
- >And poke at a few of the contents-is that mud?
- >They’re feeding you mud?
- >You chuck the bowl at the wall.
- >it makes a clatter.
- >Clatter, not shatter.
- >It’s made out of hard rock, not porcelain.
- >Feral stares at you.
- >Mara does too.
- “Sorry, I didn’t-... I don’t know why I just did that.”
- >Feral’s stare is unmoving.
- “I-uh... bug.”
- >Feral shakes his head in disappointment and starts picking up the foraged filth.
- >You feel kind of bad for throwing away his hard work.
- >He searched for that food.
- >”... bug?”
- >Mara is still staring at you.
- >Yes Mara.
- “Bug.”
- >”You know, you should really eat something.”
- >And he should really stop reading your mind.
- >”Eat something.”
- >No.
- >”Anny, you-”
- “I’m not hungry.”
- >And you plan on staying that way for a while.
- >”You need to eat.”
- “Yeah, well I also need sunlight. But I’m not getting that, now am I?”
- >”Sunlight?”
- “Yes, sunlight. It’s a natural source for a specific nutrient that humans need. Vitamin D.”
- >He doesn’t know what to say.
- >That shut him up nicely.
- >Finally, some silence.
- >”I heard that.”
- >Fuck off.
- >You wonder if he can see mental images that you imagine as well.
- >Cause right now, you’re imagining giving him the middle finger.
- >”I got that too.”
