- CYOA Badluck Femanon
- >It's been two years since you arrived in Equestria.
- >This whole time, you've been living in the library with Twilight.
- >She's been more than hospitable, but you can't freeload anymore.
- >In the spirit of cutie marks, destiny, and what have you, you've went and visited Celestia to ask for a place to live. One that you can call home.
- >You promised to pay everything back to her, with interest.
- >She doesn't seem to understand the concept of a loan, but she gives you a nice small place to live all the same.
- >You live close enough to be in Ponyville, but far enough from it to be alone.
- >You live close to Fluttershy though, if you ever needed anything.
- >All of this madness has been rather hard on you though.
- >You can't even remember what your life was like before.
- >There's no one here like you. You're alone.
- >"Hey Anon, whatcha doing?"
- >You blink.
- >You're sitting on the lakeside.
- >Your arms are folded around your knees.
- >You were staring at the lake for so long you didn't even notice Rainbow Dash arrive.
- "Nothing. I'm just uh... lost."
- >"Lost? Ponyville is over in that direction."
- >She points.
- >You shake your head.
- "Lost in thought. Lost in life."
- You go back to staring at the lake.
- >A fish leaps out of the water and splashes back in.
- "About everything."
- >You really just want to be to yourself right now.
- >You stand up and pat yourself clean from dirt and start walking away.
- >"Oh...kay?"
- >Rainbow follows after you, not taking the hint.
- >"Well, me and Fluttershy have been out all morning doing some stuff with animals. We were just going to grab a bite to eat. Wanna come?"
- >You sigh.
- "Where at?"
- >"Sugarcube Corner, where else?"
- >You shake your head.
- "Thanks, but I'll pass."
- >You continue walking along.
- >You hear some steps behind you.
- >"Anon, are you okay? You've been acting kinda... weird lately."
- >You say nothing. You really just want to be by yourself right now.
- >"Something happen? Do you wanna talk about it?"
- "I'm fine Rainbow. Really. Enjoy your lunch with Fluttershy."
- >"Alright. I'll see ya later?"
- >You nod.
- >Rainbow turns and leaves.
- >You continue walk to some place you have no idea.
- >Your feet end up taking you to a path less traveled, covered by autumn leaves.
- >You let out a small laugh.
- "It's fall, isn't it?"
- >You find a large tree and take a seat next to it.
- >Your mind wanders.
- >Your birthday should be any day now.
- >Not that it matters. No one here knows your birthday.
- >A soft breeze passes by.
- >You feel kinda tired.
- >A nap would be nice right about now.
- >You close your eyes and let slumber come to you.
- >"Hey, Anon!"
- "Wha?"
- >Your eyes snap open.
- >It's night.
- >Pinkie Pie is right next to you.
- >"Whatcha doing?"
- >Sleeping.
- "I-... nothing."
- >"That sounds like fun. You know what else sounds like fun? A party!"
- >Not another party.
- >"Rainbow said she saw you earlier today and you were looking rather down. Well Pinkie's here to turn that down frown upside-down see?"
- >Before you know it, she grabs your arm and starts pulling you to Ponyville.
- >"You know I noticed something really strange. You don't seem to have a birthday. Or, you don't tell anyone when it is. And that's not fun. Everyone should have fun on their birthday."
- >Pinkie is bouncing up and down.
- >You stare at her.
- >"So?"
- "So?"
- >"When's your birthday?"
- "It's..."
- >You look away for a moment.
- >You really don't want to celebrate your birthday with these ponies.
- >It'll just make you wish you were home.
- "I don't have a birthday, Pinkie."
- >Pinkie gasps.
- >"YOU DON'T?"
- >The pink pone stops dead in her tracks.
- "I don't."
- >Pinkie stares at you with jaw open.
- >"We have to fix that right away!"
- "Pinkie, I don't think I want a birthday."
- >Pinkie recoils from you.
- >"WHAT?!"
- >She throws you over her back and zips back to Ponyville.
- >"Don't want a birthday? Don't want a BIRTHDAY!? How could you even- I just-"
- >In mere moments, you're in Sugarcube Corner.
- "Pinkie... really, you don't have to throw a party for me-"
- >Pinkie screams.
- >Loudly.
- >Like, you think you just went deaf in one ear loudly.
- >Shit.
- >You think you might have broken Pinkie.
- >She's fuming and confused and surprised all at once.
- >"I refuse to accept it. No one in Equestria history ever never refuses to celebrate their birthday never!"
- >Pinkie keeps disappearing from the room and reappearing with a bunch of decorations and food and other party stuff.
- >"You sit tight Anon, I'm going to throw you the mother of ALL parties."
- >You blink.
- "But-"
- >Pinkie shoves a cupcake in your mouth.
- >"NO BUTS!"
- "Mmph?"
- >"ANON NEVER HAD A BIRTHDAY PARTY! WE ARE THROWING YOU THE BEST BIRTHDAY PARTY EVER!"
- >You swallow the cupcake, quite painfully.
- "We?"
- >In less than a second, the entire town, literally the entire town, pours into Sugarcube Corner.
- >You can see Mayor Mare, Derpy, Daisy. Some wild-haired stallion with a glowing pen-sized screwdriver. You even see a white pony with sunglasses set up her DJ equipment.
- >Music is playing in seconds.
- >Everyone is here. Everyone.
- >"You've-"
- >"-Never-"
- >"-Had-"
- >"A birthday before?"
- >The Cutie Mark Crusaders stared at you.
- >You swallow nervously.
- "N-no?"
- >Ponies start swarming everywhere around you, leading you into every possible party activity.
- >The whole town is treating you so kindly.
- >You've never had this much attention before.
- >You've never had a birthday party either.
- >But all of these ponies, making you feel welcome, trying so hard to show you a good time... you're speechless..
- >A warm feeling spreads inside you.
- >You feel really happy.
- >"Anon!"
- >Pinkie Pie hands you a green fizzy drink and a plate of snacks.
- >"Are you having fun?"
- "Yes."
- >You take a sip of the drink and put all the food down.
- >Pinkie gives a big hug.
- >"I couldn't believe my ears when I heard you say you didn't have a birthday. I'm so super happy that you're happy and having fun at your first official birthday party!"
- >You thank her.
- >The lights start dimming down.
- >Some really catchy music starts to play.
- >"Anon! Let's boogie!"
- >The pink pony pulls you on the dancefloor.
- >You can't really dance, so you just bounce around a little and move your hands to the beat.
- >You start grooving some more.
- >Strobe lights start flashing from out of nowhere.
- >You shrug and keep dancing.
- >"Watch out!"
- >Something collides into you.
- >You feel your legs give out.
- >"Ouch... whoops, sorry Anon."
- >Scootaloo stands back up.
- >"You okay?"
- "Y-yeah, I'm fine."
- >You pick yourself up from the ground.
- >Your ankle is hurting. Must have twisted it.
- >Nothing too serious though.
- >You pull Pinkie aside.
- "Hey, I'm gonna go outside and get some air. I'll be right back."
- >Pinkie nods and continues dancing.
- >You carefully work your way through to the door and step through it.
- >You forgot that the whole town was actually at the party.
- >Looking outside, the rest of the town is completely empty.
- >The night sky is clear.
- >The moon is a small silver crescent.
- >You lean against the doorframe and take in the night air.
- >It's a beautiful night.
- >The party should be out here, on the streets.
- >You sigh.
- >Whatever. The party inside was still really fun.
- >You could always go stargazing later.
- >"Hey Anon!"
- >You hear Rainbow Dash walk up beside you.
- >"Happy Birthday!"
- "Uh, thanks."
- >"Come back inside. We're getting ready to cut the cake, and we need our guest of honor!"
- >She pulls you back in and seats you at a table in the center of the room.
- >Everyone has their eyes on you.
- >"Happy Birthday to you
- >We have this song for you.
- >Happy Birthday to Anon.
- >Hope your wish comes true."
- >In front of you is the biggest cake you've ever laid your eyes on.
- >You're in the biggest crowd you've ever been in.
- >This night is full of a firsts. You've never been happier.
- >"Blow out the candles, we want some cake."
- >You giggle.
- >You think of a wish for just a moment and hold it in your mind.
- >And in one fell swoop, you blow out the light.
- >"So? What'd ya wish for?"
- "I-"
- >You wished you turned into guy.
- >You aren't sure why, since you could have wished for anything else.
- >It was just something that you thought of randomly.
- >You stop yourself.
- >There's no way you could tell that to everyone.
- >That you wished you were a man.
- >That you wanted life here to be easier.
- >That you wouldn't have to worry about finding someone, that "special somep0ny" that every keeps blabbing about.
- >That you could have the ability to work a hard but simple job and get money to survive.
- >That you wouldn't waste your time about thinking so much about your future destiny, whatever the fuck that was, and would just do something.
- >That you wouldn't hate the way you look.
- >That you hated getting body cramps every damn month.
- >And don't even get started on the blood.
- >Fuck, even if there was a higher female-to-male ratio here in Equestria, it doesn't make you feel any better.
- >Your life could be so much simpler right now.
- >"Anon?"
- "I- uh... I wished that... this party would never end."
- >The crowd cheers and the music kicks back on.
- >You give a weak smile and start cutting the cake.
- >You give a big sigh.
- >You basically killed your happiness.
- >You wanted to be alone right now.
- >You quickly gobble down a slice of cake and then head outside.
- >You decide to go home.
- >You had your fun.
- >No one would even notice you're gone after that lie you said.
- >They'd be too busy partying it up.
- >You stretch out your leg, the one that you twisted, before trekking back to your little house.
- >Even though it was pretty clear out, the rest of the town was dead quiet.
- >Freaked you out a little bit.
- >You found yourself looking behind you every time you heard a small noise.
- >You shake your head.
- >What were you, afraid of the dark?
- >You hear a loud thud from behind you.
- >You up your pace to a jog.
- >You look over your shoulder.
- >Your foot catches on something, and suddenly, the world falls around you.
- >You skid across the ground.
- >The pain in your ankle starts to flare up again.
- "Damn it."
- >You pick yourself up and dust off your shirt.
- >You take one more look behind you before limping back home.
- >You hear a flapping of wings from behind you.
- >You turn around and see a vague silhouette of a pegasus pony.
- "Dash, is that you? Have you been following me this whole time?"
- >Rainbow doesn't seem to want to talk.
- >You notice that she's holding something in her teeth.
- "What is that?"
- >The winged pony steps forward.
- >You get a closer look.
- "Is that... rope?"
- >Before you could ask what it was for, the pony flies around you, binding your arms to your sides.
- "What the fuck?"
- >"You're a bad liar."
- >That didn't sound like Rainbow Dash.
- >The pony steps into the moonlight.
- >You're confused.
- >The pony in front of you IS Rainbow Dash.
- >Not-Dash smiles.
- >You're scared.
- "W-what are you doing?"
- >The pony pushes you down on the ground, and begins tying nots around your legs.
- "What the hell! Get off!"
- >You kick the rainbow-haired pony away.
- >She jumps back up and raises a hoof.
- "Rainbow?"
- >She slams a hoof into your head.
- >Your world goes dark.
- >Your eyes snap open.
- >You're in a dark cave.
- >The kick to your head starts to throb.
- >You wince and try to clear your head, take in your surroundings.
- >A watersoaked rag was shoved in your mouth while you were out.
- >How long were you out?
- >You carefully work your jaw and spit the rag out.
- >Your arms are still tied.
- >What the hell is going on right now?
- "Anon!"
- >Huh?
- >You try to sit up.
- >"Anon, it's me honey."
- >You haven't heard that voice in years.
- "... Dad?"
- >This doesn't make sense.
- >You were just kidnapped by Dash, weren't you?
- >Your arms are still tied.
- >This is some sort of twisted joke. It has to be.
- >"Anon, sweetie, it's alright. I'm here."
- >You feel something brush against your arm.
- >It pulls you into a hug.
- "... who the fuck are you?"
- >"Anon, it's me."
- "What?"
- >"It's me."
- "... no, fuck you. You aren't my dad."
- >You squirm yourself out of its grasp, whatever it is.
- >This isn't happening. This can't be real, this isn't happening.
- >"Don't you use those words in front of me young lady."
- "No n-no... get the fuck away, you aren't real."
- >You wriggle away from the creature.
- "You think you can fool me into being my dad? I'm not stupid. Why would my dad tie me up and keep me in a cave?"
- >"Honey?"
- >You see a pair of glowing green eyes.
- >"You're not making any sense. We're not in a cave."
- >You feel a creeping cold trickle down your back.
- >It sends you into a flailing fit.
- >You bump your head against the cave wall, same spot as before.
- >The pain shoots across your entire head.
- >You can barely feel the cold touching your back.
- "No!"
- >You smash your head against the wall again.
- >You begin to feel dizzy.
- >You let the dark engulf you and black out once more.
- >You make a mental note to never knock yourself out again.
- >The headache you receive upon waking up is outrageously terrible.
- >It takes you a good ten minutes to ignore the pain.
- >You try to sit up, and immediately get pushed down by a wave of heat.
- >You're still inside the cave.
- >Somewhere deeper, you guess.
- >The area is dimly lit. There's some soft, dry moss lying beneath you.
- >You don't feel any ropes constricting you.
- >You try to move, but every effort is in vain.
- >It's like your body is frozen.
- >"Look who finally decided to wake up."
- >You blink.
- >"Don't bother. Your paralyzed until the mara spirit is satisfied."
- "W-wha..."
- >You can't even speak.
- >"The strange, warm presence that's currently sitting on your chest. It's a mara."
- >A black, warped, gangly pegasus with a twisted unicorn horn steps in your limited field of vision.
- >"It's an honor, meeting with a human."
- >You gather up enough strength to speak a few whispered words.
- "Who are you? What do you want?"
- >"Queen Chrysalis at your service. What was your name again? Anonymous?"
- >You stare at her until she answers your next question.
- >"I'll tell you what I want. I want you."
- >What?
- >"You are simply delectable, you know that? Humans... who would have guessed?"
- >She walks around you in circles.
- >You humans are so very strange. Radiantly positive. Full of happy memories. And you have something no p0ny in Equestria has ever had. Can you guess?"
- >You stare at her.
- "What?"
- >"Love."
- >You don't understand. Love?
- >You've never even fallen in love before, let alone had a boyfriend.
- >"An endless supply of love."
- >The hell is she talking about?
- >"This is how things are going to work."
- >Chrysalis runs a hoof through your hair.
- >"You are going to fall asleep naturally. No more headbanging, no more kicks to the face. You will simply fall asleep."
- >A chill goes down your spine.
- >"You will dream."
- >Dream?
- >"That mara spirit? He will turn every happy dream you have into a nightmare and suck every ounce of love from your endless reserves. He will ravage your body, take everything you hold sacred. And he will do this every single night, for the rest of your life."
- >You shudder.
- >"He will give you a loving time. And we will absorb every bit."
- >You don't understand.
- >"You don't get it? Lemme put this simply. Mara spirits? They are incubi. They will give you the chance of happiness at the beginning of every single dream you have. And then they will strip you of your happiness. Your love. And we will eat the tablescraps."
- "... w-we?"
- >In a flash, the entire cave fill itself with smaller versions of whatever Chrysalis is.
- >"It's not ideal. But you're an endless buffet."
- >She laughs quietly. Her eyes start glowing green.
- >"Say good night human."
- >Sleep crashes down on you like a wave.
- >It drags you under.
- >You feel a single tear fall down your face before drifting off to dreamland.
