After a little bit, the doors open again to show two hallways branching off, one straight ahead and one to the side. >The one to the side requires a Level 3 Key Card. >You carefully scan the hallway ahead, looking for any kind of security. >... There is nothing. >As you and Hexferry continue along the hall, there is a door to your side. >It's also emblazoned with a "3". >"Great, I have a Level 2 Key Card and I can't even do anything with it." "If we don't get Level 3 first, we'll still be able to go through the large door in the Hanger." >She's behind you, so you can't actually see, but she sounds somewhat happy. >"That's something, I guess." >You ready to keep going but Hexferry stops you. >"Wait, that's not right..." >She sounds concerned. >"That's the door to where the prisoners are held, but..." "What's wrong?" >"... I left through this door after I knocked out that guard. That couldn't have happened." >You look back at her. >She looks as confused as she sounds. >"I only had a Level 2 Key Card; this door shouldn't have opened." >You both look at the door. >She's right, of course. >She uses her Key Card on the door, but it makes sound of denial. >... Nothing is said while you both attempt to explain it. >After a while, you give up and continue along the path. >... At the end of the hallway, you two finally reach a corner.   >You and Hexferry press yourself against the close wall and peer around it. >... It goes to another hallway, another one completely void of security. "Something's wrong..." >"What do you mean?" "They have no cameras, no guards, no wires... It doesn't make sense." >"Well, that's just how this building works. The security gets worse in later buildings." >As long as you don't have to go farther in, you should be... >Wait, is that a vent on the floor? >At the end of this hallway is a vent, just like the one you used to sneak into this building. "Well, we don't have anywhere else to go." >You get on your stomach right before the vent as you prepare to go in. >"Uh... Snake?" "What?" >"... There's no way I can fit in there." >You glance back at her and... >... She's right. Pony anatomy is not meant for these vents. >Against other equines, these vents are perfectly safe. >You, however, aren't an equine. >For some reason, you can get through these. >How does this world have so many things designed for humans if humans never existed? "Don't worry... I'll be back as soon as I can." >"Oh, uh... Snake?" "What?" >She pulls out the Level 2 Key Card. >"Take this... j-just incase you need it." >Her face is gaining a tint of red. "I know it's not a fair trade, but you might need at least something." >You take her Level 2, but you give her your Level 1. "Just incase." >Her face gets more red and her muzzle scrunches. >"I-it's not like I care o-or anything!" >... Right... >You turn back to the vent and crawl inside. >"B-be safe!"   >She probably whispers something else, but you can't hear it. >... >After a few twists and turns, as well as ascending quite a long distance, you see two grates on the floor of the vent. >You approach the first and look down. >It's a prisoner's cell but it's completely empty. >The door is open. >That must've been the one Hexferry escaped from. >Meaning the next grate... >When you reach it, you look down. >It's another cell but some key things are different about this one. >The door is locked and it isn't empty. >Inside is tan mare with green hair and beautiful green wings. >She sighs longingly. >You can't see her eyes from here, but she matches most of the description of the DARPA Chief. >With a bit of effort, you pop the grate out of place and slink down through the opening. >When you land, the mare is startled by your entrance and... >... She's wearing sunglasses. >"Wh-who are you?" "It doesn't matter who I am; who are you?" >She attempts to compose herself as she gains a more regal demeanor. >"I am Actias, the DARPA Chief." >She's exactly who you were looking for. "Good. I was sent here to free you." >She looks overjoyed. >"Really? Oh, this is wonderful!" "Hang on, I have some questions for you first. What's going on here? What's this all about?" >Her expression falls. >"Oh... Well, the situation..." >She pauses for a few moments. >"This whole incident... is because of a monster they're making out of metal. It's supposed to launch... nuclear weapons. They're calling it... Mothal Gear." "Mothal Gear?" >"Yes. With it, they plan to ruin peace talks and send the nations into disarray. Peace will become an impossibility."   "Why?" >"Their leader, he's insane. He longs for destruction and wide-spread chaos. When he took over so long ago, he made everything about the Mothal Gear. The worst part is... the ArmsTech President and I each put a password on it so they couldn't activate it, but..." "But what?" >You become slightly agitated. "You didn't tell them yours, did you?" >She turns away from you as you stare her down, unwilling to meet your gaze. >"I couldn't resist! So much pain... I just hope they didn't get his..." "Are the passwords the only things they need to activate it?" >"Well, that's one of the ways to activate it. There are also three Colored Key Cards to activate it, but they can also be used to deactivate it." "Where are those cards?" >"... I don't know. I haven't seen any of them in a very long time." "Where is the ArmsTech President?" >"... I don't know..." >Silence reigns as you process everything she's said. >This base has designed a weapon to launch nukes, and they will use it to cause widespread chaos. >There are two ways to activate it and deactivate it; one is through passwords, and the other is through Colored Key Cards. >They have at least one of the two passwords and the cards are missing. >The ArmsTech President is probably being held captive much deeper in the compound. >... "Right. Let's get you out of here." >You walk up to the locked door and use the Level 2 Key Card on it. >It opens. >... These bases always use the same stupid technology... >You've gotten through many missions because idiots made this work. >You look around the room. >There's an empty chair you assume the guard Hexferry knocked out was sitting in, a desk, and a door to a restroom... as well as the door to escape.   >Actias follows you as you use the card on the unmarked door. >It doesn't open without the key, but it opens perfectly when you use it. >When you exit, the hall is as empty as it was before... until Hexferry rounds a corner as spots you. >"You made it out! That's... Wait, is that the DARPA Chief?" >She points to Actias, who just nods. >"Good. Now what do we do, Snake?" "... I'm calling the Colonel." >-Call: Colonel Minty- >"Anon! I heard you found Hexferry already. What's up?" "I rescued the DARPA Chief, but the ArmsTech President isn't here. They've made a Mothal Gear." >"No!" "Do you think it's related to the others?" >"... I desperately hope not. Can they use it?" "Maybe. Two password locks and they already have one. If that falls through, they can get the key cards." >"No..." "..." >"Snake, you have to rescue the ArmsTech President!" "Don't worry, Colonel. I'm on it." >-End Transmission- >Hexferry looks at you expectantly. >"Well?" "We're going deeper in. Three's a crowd, though. There's no way all three of us can sneak in together." >You all look at each other, contemplating the next course of action. >-Call: Amata- >"You wish to save?"   >Game Saved.   >"By the way, Snake... Actias seems to have no way to defend herself. Would it be better to keep her with you, keep her with Hexferry, or keep her somewhere safe? Those aren't your only options, of course, but... Well, good luck." >-End Transmission-   >Current Inventory: >Tranquilizer(22/46) >Level 2 Key Card. >Hexferry's Inventory: >Tranquilizer(?/46) >Level 1 Key Card. >Actias' Inventory: >Sunglasses. >Codec Options: >Colonel Minty. >Cejire. >Amata. >Current Objectives: >Rescue the President of ArmsTech.
