I think she said they were known as "bits" >Coins called "bits"...bitcoin...damn you really miss the internet >You take a bite out of the fruit as you continue walking >It's very tasteful, if not a little strong smelling. Not too much unlike a durian fruit >Before long, the scent and flavor mix, leaving you unable to finish >You toss the remains of the fruit in a waste can and continue browsing the odd shops in the area >Soon enough you're standing before a rather decrepit looking shop >It's been around quite some time if the beaten exterior is anything to go by >After spending a good few minutes staring at the sign above the door and the dusty windows, you decide to enter >Inside, it's rather cramped and cluttered with antique-looking objects >You're greeted by an elderly navy blue mare >"Hello, welcome to The Golden Pendulum Antique Store." >Her voice was warm and inviting, as was her smile >"Can I help you find anything?" She asks you >You take a second to think >Of course there isn't anything you need. You just wandered in out of curiosity after all >You couldn't help but notice she was actually talking to you without a hint of fear or trepidation like the other ponies >She continues smiling at you, her deep blue eyes twinkling like the ocean reflecting the night sky >"Well, young man? Are you interested in antiques?" >You slowly shake your head, shifting your gaze from her and looking around at all the things cluttered around you >Some of it actually did look quite interesting, like a small wooden carving of a star-studded bear holding a fish in its mouth >You hear laughing as you turn back to find the old mare laughing at your rather lost look >"No matter. So, what brings you to my tiny shop in the middle of nowhere?" >You explain to her that you were just wandering around town, thinking, and staying away from populated areas in case a panic was to be had at your expense >"I see...I see...Well, I don't know what has everyone in a tizzy. You're like a monkey. Nothing to panic over." >"Gee...thanks..." you retort >She probably didn't mean to label you a monkey >However, you have to kind of agree >In a world where humans may simply not exist, a monkey is probably the closest thing to a human >"MOOOOOOOM!" shouts a voice from the back room >"Your lunch is ready!" >It sounded like a young mare, and this elder's daughter at that >"Ah, I suppose lunch is calling. I'll have to shoo you away for now...I'm sorry dear, I didn't catch your name." >"Stebbins." You reply >"Stebbins? Hmm...Interesting name. Well, Mr. Stebbins, I hope you can visit again. We don't get many customers here, so feel free to stop in for a chat sometime. If I'm not here, just ask for Keep Sake" >She winks at you before turning to the door behind the counter and disappearing behind it >As she left, you caught a glimpse of the mark on her flank >It was a grandfather clock with a bright yellow pendulum, the hands pointed at eight and four >You stood there a moment longer, thinking about this new "friend", if you could call her that >*growl* Your stomach has other plans however >Time to go get some lunch >Perhaps you'll take her up on her offer to visit again later ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~To Be Continued~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   If you want to read more Stebbins in Equestria for whatever god-forsaken reason, be sure to check out the previous chapters, found easily on my Pastebin profile. -Boss Sheep
