  1. >Every time you walked into these places, you could feel your heart sink.
  2. >Places like this should be banned for people with weak willed people like yourself.
  3. >Looking at all the animals paw at the cage gates breaks your heart.
  4. >But you couldn't help it; you loved animals!
  5. >And since you lost pal Sparky, your Yorkshire Terrier, the apartment has been feeling lonely to say the least.
  6. >At least he went out quietly in his sleep.
  7. >So going to the animal shelter to get a new companion seemed like a good idea.
  8. >Peeking through the gates, you look at all the dogs and cats.
  9. >Most were asleep, and the ones that were awake had the look of total desperation in their eyes.
  10. >It was apparent that most of these animals were broken hearted, and had lost all faith in finding a new home.
  11. >Another heartbreak was underway and you felt guilty for being the reason.
  12. >But something caught your attention.
  13. >A pink creature, no smaller than a medium sized dog.
  14. >You bend down and stare into the cage as it gives the tradition puppy eyes.
  15. >It looked like... a pony.
  16. >Its mane is straight and it has a deeper shade of pink compared to its coat.
  17. >There appears to be two tattoos of some assortment on both sides of her flank.
  18. >They looked like balloons.
  19. "You poor thing. What are you even doing here?"
  20. >It leans back again the wall of the cage, fear instilled in its eyes.
  21. >Reaching into your back pocket, you grab the bag of sunflower seeds that you had been snacking on earlier and pour some into your hand.
  22. >Slowly sliding your hand in, you watch as the small pony cautiously moves forward and sniffs them.
  23. >It looks at your hand and then back to you before slowly heading back against the wall.
  24. "Don't like them, do you?"
  25. >It shakes its head.
  26. >Wait.
  27. >Could it understand you?
  28. >...No, it's has to be your imagination playing tricks on you.
  29. >Sheer coincidence! That was it.
  30. "You can't understand me, right?" you ask, letting out a small chuckle.
  31. >It nods its head.
  32. >Your heart begins to sink.
