  1. Life in the desert was hard. Little water or food to be found, what existed usually found in small underground oasis'. For predators, food was equally scarce. Most 'prey' animals would keel over and die in the brutal desert sun OR freeze and die in the frigid desert night, so the diurnal predators known as Rukodiora and Rathian were usually out of luck.
  2.
  3. Unfortunately for the rest of the desert, both predators had teamed up as of late. Though it was a little touchy as Roy the Rukodiora and Kino the Rathian grew on each other, as of late they had been effective to a scary degree.
  4.
  5. Kino stood at 4'11", which was...quite short. She had a pair of supple C-cup breasts with nipple coverings made of the same green scale that covered her thighs, legs, and lower arms. These covering were retractable as Roy had found out, having walked in on her bathing once and then promptly receiving the beating of his life. Along her chin and cheekbones was a crest of green scale, looking almost like the straps on a helmet. This line of scale disappeared beneath her odd, bright blue hair. Along her right eye was a thin red scar, which Roy had yet to get her to talk about.
  6.
  7. The wyvern-anthro's wings went from her wrists to her shoulders, folding up when not in use. The wickedly barbed tail hung at the base of her back, the bulb that was filled with lethal Rath neurotoxins usually dragging on the ground. The toxic back quills were in a small patch along her spine, perfect for stabbing potential rapists, as some Rathalos tended to be. On her shapely, motherly hips was a line of green scale and plate holding her vagina out of sight and protected. Her draconic feet ended in razor-sharp talons, loaded with the lethal poison that Raths were known for.
  8.
  9. Roy himself stood at 5'9", which was significantly taller than his cave-mate. His chest was free of scale coverings, but closer inspection showed tiny protective plates all along his torso, hidden by his natural skin color. Large, golden wings were along his back, tipped in bright yellow points roughly two inches at the end of the bright membrane. His own tail also started at the base of his spine, extending out but not quite touching the ground due to his added height. His waist also had a covering for his penis, hiding it away in a scale-covered sheathe that was nearly invisible when the dragon wasn't aroused (which hadn't happened since he had caught Kino bathing).
  10.
  11. He had dark grey, almost black scale covering the same areas that Kino did, as well as a dark grey strip of scales along his own chin and cheekbones, which disappeared under his unusual silver hair. His own feet ended in ultra-hard and ultra-sharp dragon talons, sharp enough to rend boulders to tiny slivers. His hands ended in claws of the same hardness. On his forehead was a six inch yellow horn, extending out at a very slight angle.
  12.
  13. The teaming up was first out of necessity (there was precious little water and food that season, and one had a small surplus of what the other needed), and then later out of enjoyment of the others company. Roy had actually used his not-insignificant strength to carve out a small alcove for the wyvern and dragon to hide in during the day hours. Through some stroke of luck, it also managed to open up into an underground lake of fresh water.
  14.
  15. After removing the...irritating Plesioth from the area, the two set up shop.
  16.
  17. "Roy..." Kino had sighed one day, after returning home empty clawed once again.
  18.
  19. "Yes Kino, what's wrong?" The dragon had replied from his spot near the lake. He had taken up fishing as of late, and was getting shockingly good at it. As it turned out, fish enjoyed going after his bright yellow horn, and he had simply attached a hook and some string to it. He tossed a catch to her and she caught it, flame-broiling it before slashing it open and eating.
  20.
  21. "It's boring here. I can't catch crap, and it's starting to get annoying." The Rathian anthro huffed, a small burst of flame accompanying that. The Rukodiora shook his head in a small bout of amusement. "I'm also really tired of being hot or cold all the time." She continued whining.
  22.
  23. "Well, where do you suggest we go?" He said, standing and removing his fishing gear. He placed it in the nearby chest he had built for his fishing replacements, spare hooks and the like.
  24.
  25. "There's this warm, wet patch of jungle I haven't been to in years..." The Rathian started, looking away. The dragon chuckled, giving her shoulder a pat.
  26.
  27. "Alright, to the jungle we shall go. Go ahead of me, I'll seal the cave and be up after you." Roy said, ruffling her hair. She grinned cheekily, before snapping herself out of her head-pat induced stupor.
  28.
  29. "R-right."
  30.
  31. The green-scaled anthro stepped outside, taking flight mere moments later. Roy took a final look around, locked their valuables up, then sealed the cave with a large boulder. His faster flight speed let him catch up with the woman with little issue, though Roy did hang behind her a bit.
  32.
  33. "Mm, nice view back here!" He called, and the she-wyvern blushed as she blew flames at the fire-resistant Rukodiora.
  34.
  35. "You damn pervert!" She shouted as Roy overtook her, and he just laughed.
  36.
  37. "Eh, being a gentleman only gets so far!"
  38.
  39. The she-wyvern growled at him and tackled him out of the air, the dragon-morph laughing all the way to the soft ground of the beach below.
  40. ---
  41.
  42. After a flight of a few hours, they were both hovering over the jungle. Reia was obviously tired, panting heavily as she lowered herself to the jungle floor. Ruko could keep this up for a little while longer, but simply decided not to. Doing so would make him a target...though for what, he didn't possibly know. The only things stupid enough to attack *him* were Deviljho and Abiorugu, both of which he could take apart at his leisure.
  43.
  44. "You okay?" He asked upon landing, and the panting woman nodded.
  45.
  46. "Y-yeah. There's a cave over here, it'll shelter us from the storm about to roll in." Kino said, stumbling a bit before Roy caught her. He shot her a soft, concerned look, and she shook him off. "Not your mate, lovebird. Get off."
  47.
  48. "Alright, chill yourself, Miss Tsun." Roy said as he rolled his eyes, letting the woman go. Kino immediately stumbled and face-planted into the mud, and she growled. The Ruko shrugged, closing his eyes and shaking his head in amusement. He stepped past her and into the cave, which is when he heard it.
  49.
  50. A snap.
  51.
  52. The next thing the dragon knew, he was at the roof of the cave and upside down, hung by his left leg. He couldn't get his right foot into position to cut the rope without slashing himself open, and he couldn't bend up to reach either.
  53.
  54. "Uh, Reia? Little help here?"
  55.
  56. She stepped into the cave, looking around.
  57.
  58. "Where?"
  59.
  60. "Up here." He replied flatly.
  61.
  62. The green Rath looked up...and immediately lost it when she saw Roy's predicament. She simply pointed at him, falling onto her rear and laughing loudly.
  63.
  64. "Yeah yeah, it's funny. Can you get me down? Friggin' Shaka traps." The dragon grumped.
  65.
  66. "T-too priceless!" She giggled, hand over her mouth to try and stop. Roy glared at her, his yellow wings turning a deep orange. He was getting a tad bit upset now.
  67.
  68. "Kino. Today would be nice." He said coolly, his tone not matching his looks. She got a few more guffaws at him, then flew up to him. A small puff of flame burned through and snapped the rope, causing the dragon to fall unceremoniously on his back five meters below. "Ugh...that kinda hurt..."
  69.
  70. True to Kino's word, an intense thunderstorm started as the Rukodiora picked himself up. She set up a small fire pit while Roy started clearing out the plants on the floor for the two bedrolls he had brought. Each one on its own was made for two, but Kino insisted on being able to curl up under the fabric. She would always lay away from him, facing the nearest wall. She "didn't want Ruko to get the wrong idea".
  71.
  72. They both sat by the fire, discussing idly what the should do tomorrow. Looking for the surely abundant food was a good start, as the both had to skip dinner on the flight over.
  73.
  74. The cold-blooded wyvern shivered. The warm-blooded dragon sighed, looking at her.
  75.
  76. "Are you sure you don't want to share? We've done it before."
  77.
  78. It had been a cold, sub-zero night in the desert, and Kino was absolutely frigid. Roy offered his body and blankets to the freezing Queen of the Desert, and she had eagerly taken them.
  79.
  80. "Last time I felt your dick on my rear, so no thank you." She huffed in reply.
  81.
  82. "Hey hey, that was morning wood, you know I can't help that. Besides, it was on, not in." He replied defensively. She had nearly torn it off that morning.
  83.
  84. "It's not like I was actively fucking you or anything." Ruko continued, then he mumbled something under his breath.
  85.
  86. "What was that?" She half-asked, half-demanded.
  87.
  88. "What was what?" He said, leveling a cool stare at her. His wings had since reverted back to their natural yellow color, but orange was starting to creep back into them.
  89.
  90. "What did you just mumble?"
  91.
  92. He rolled his eyes.
  93.
  94. "An attitude that hostile, I'll be shocked if you find anyone to fuck you." He said, louder this time. Reia glared at him, laying down and turning away.
  95.
  96. "I feel a single finger of yours on my boobs, and you lose both hands. Got it?" She growled.
  97.
  98. "But they're so soft!" He mocked. "Who can resist? Oh right, I can."
  99.
  100. True to that, he had never laid an unwanted hand on her. Once or twice she had gotten drunk and fell into him, but that was it. He had put her to bed almost right away, after getting *her* drunken hands off of *him*.
  101.
  102. Kino fell into a deep sleep quickly, but Ruko did not. He still kept watch around the cave, something didn't seem right. Something smelled off.
  103.
  104. Another deep breath in.
  105.
  106. "Yeah, definitely pheromones of some kind..." The dragonmorph said to himself. Kino, meanwhile, slept happily on her side of the cave. An uneasy sleep took him roughly an hour later, and only because he passed out unintentionally.
  107. ---
  108.
  109. Ruko was out on his own, looking for food. Reia in turn was looking for water. She had told him there was a large pond nearby with all the clean water they could drink, so he let her look for it.
  110.
  111. Strangely enough, there wasn't a single herbivore in the area...nor Velociprey or even a single tiny Jaggi. That threw up massive warning flags in his head. Thankful they both were 'technical omnivores', he started picking plants that looked good...or at the very least *edible*.
  112.
  113. "HEY, YOU!" A gruff voice called from behind. "No see you before. Who you? Answer!"
  114.
  115. The dragon dropped what he was carrying, spinning on his heel to face his ambusher. Two male Abiorugu, heavily built and tall...at least 6'5". Green crests atop their heads, forest-green scales on their arms and legs. Their arms looks much thinner than their legs, atrophied from disuse. Why use them, after all, when you have a gigantic red blade on your tail?
  116.
  117. Unlike himself, Ruko noted with some displeasure, both Abio lacked any sort of sheathe or hiding for their 'equipment', and thus it just hung down between their thighs. At least the mystery of that scent was solved...not that Roy was particularly happy about that.
  118.
  119. "I'm just a tourist." He replied with his hands up. "I'm here with someone else, we were just leaving."
  120.
  121. "Too late! We have fun with lady-friend while we kill you! Let steam out, many little Abiorugu!"
  122.
  123. What? He hadn't mentioned Kino...oh. They must have smelled her on him, due to living in close proximity for the better part of two years. Accursed Abiorugu and their ability to breed with *anything*.
  124.
  125. "Over my dead body." Ruko replied, wings flared in a show of intimidation, pulsing a deep orange. One of them did back down, but the other looked unimpressed.
  126.
  127. "Villem, find lady friend. I kill him." The one commanded, and the fearful one looked happy to get away from the angry Elder Dragon. Roy went to stop him when the first grabbed his tail and swung him into a tree. There was enough force behind it to crack the bark, and Roy slid down the tree in a daze.
  128.
  129. "Grah ha ha ha." The Abio laughed sluggishly, and by the time Roy picked himself up, the other was already gone. His assailant opened his mouth wide and tossed an inferno at him, which Roy rolled away from. The tree was incinerated in the blast, smouldering timbers raining all around them both. Roy returned fire with a Magnet Beam, which burned clean through the other man's head-crest.
  130.
  131. The taller, bulkier man wasn't much happy about that.
  132.
  133. "You make me not man! YOU DIE!" He screamed. "Kalju will mount your head on his wall in show!"
  134.
  135. At least Roy had a name now.
  136.
  137. Kalju rushed at him in close quarters, spinning on his left foot to bring that bladed tail around. The blade bit into Ruko's chest plating, coming close to cutting through entirely. For being so tall and big, Kalju was shockingly agile. Momentum carried Ruko into another clearing, the dragon hitting the ground and rolling to a stop.
  138.
  139. "Urgh..." The Rukodiora groaned, sore in just about every spot. "Fast..."
  140.
  141. The Rukodiora-Anthro stood shakily, thinking. It would be another minute until the Abiorugu was here...and there, hidden in the ground, was another Shaka trap. Hopefully of the same kind he was trapped with last night.
  142.
  143. He carefully stepped around it, then waited. The thudding of footsteps and shaking of trees let him know that the Abio was here...but not from the right direction.
  144.
  145. Kalju burst out of the treeline behind Roy, whirling to decapitate the dragon with his tail. Roy ducked it purely out of dumb luck, slashing with his claws and finally actually drawing blood on the male Abio. Roy then lashed out with a kick, his talons tearing out more scale and flesh.
  146.
  147. Roy then jumped back, out of retaliation range. The Abiorugu, blinded with anger, followed like a mindless beast.
  148.
  149. A small *click*, and the Abio was strung up between two trees in a net. Ruko very nearly suffered the same, literal inches from being captured in the net himself.
  150.
  151. Roy let himself breathe while the Abiorugu, despite being literally trapped and unable to move, continued to taunt him.
  152.
  153. "I kill you, then mate with her. She make many strong Abiorugu for me, then we send her to next in line." He laughed. "She become breeding hole for us. We kill her when done in two years."
  154.
  155. If it was trying to break his concentration, it was only sorta working. Roy's wings and horn were pulsing an angry-orange, and he was finally ready to erase this beast from the face of the planet.
  156.
  157. But first, a little fun. Just to show Kalju just how outclassed he really was.
  158.
  159. "Alright, you want her?" He asked.
  160.
  161. "Little dragon realize how weak he is, let me go mate with his girl. Smart dragon." Kalju growled.
  162.
  163. Ruko took wing and slashed, his talons cleaving into the net and into the brute's arm. A vicious pull...and bone, flesh, and scale were rent asunder. The Brute Wyvern screamed in pain as he fell out of the net, clutching the stump.
  164.
  165. "You...you hurt Kalju!" He screamed, spit flying from his lips. "I'LL KILL YO-"
  166.
  167. The shouting stopped when Roy put his talons to the man's neck, forcing him onto his back.
  168.
  169. "Enough. I'll give you a choice. Either I end you now and go kill your friend, or I let you bleed out and go kill your friend." The Rukodiora said with a chilling calm, wings still pulsing orange with rage. "Either way, you both die."
  170.
  171. The Abiorugu chose to simply glare at Ruko, which made the choice clear.
  172.
  173. "I'm going to let you bleed out, slowly. Have a nice day in Hell."
  174.
  175. A swift kick to the brute's jaw (which in turn broke it), and Roy turned to make the trek back to the cave. He wasn't sure if Kinoreia could handle the other one.
