 - >Following a herd of fluffy ponies in the wild.
 - >This particular herd actually has a beta male.
 - >He stays at the back of the pack at all times.
 - >They don’t even play with him.
 - >He runs around in a little circle until he gets dizzy while they hug or play hide in plain sight.
 - >He was a Pegasus pony, but he is missing one of his wings.
 - >He is also missing an eye.
 - >He compulsively tears at his orange coat, pulling tufts of it out with his teeth.
 - >You suspect he might have been abused and abandoned.
 - >When mating time comes around, he humps the ground by himself while the other fluffies go wild.
 - >At one point he gets tired of this and approaches a group of females that are huddled around a fluffy who is already pregnant.
 - >Other females do this to help the pregnant fluffy move.
 - >The beta male attempts to mate with one of them, but she just wanders off and giggles.
 - >The beta male immediately retreats to his spot twenty feet away from the herd.
 - >At one point the herd comes across another herd that does not have a beta male.
 - >It’s much more amusing to watch them fight over land, but that didn’t happen this time.
 - >The other herd ignores the orange beta fluffy the entire time.
 - >They are clearly concerned, but the beta does not attempt to do anything about his current position.
 - >The two herds are friendly with each other and spend a great deal of time hugging before they go their separate ways.
 - >One night when the herd you are following is sleeping you move in and grab the beta male.
 - >Once you’re far enough away, you set him down.
 - >He looks up at you in absolute terror and urinates everywhere, so terrified that he can’t even speak.
 - >“Challenge the smarty friend,” you tell the earth pony. “You are now the new smarty friend of that herd.”
 - >You kneel down, catch him before he can run, and grab his other wing.

 - >“If you do not challenge the smarty friend, I will tear this other wing off when your friends go to sleep tomorrow night and I will make you eat it in front of me. Do you understand?”
 - >“Pwease no take wing, munsta! I twy be new smawty fwend wight now!”
 - >You let him go and he scampers back to the herd.
 - >He wakes up a smoke grey earth pony flanked by two pregnant fluffies.
 - >“I new smawty fwend!” the beta declares.
 - >The two of them have quite a scuffle.
 - >The beta’s one wing buzzes uselessly during the fight.
 - >They bump into each other, trying to push the other one over.
 - >Occasionally the alpha bucks the beta or bites the beta, but most of the fight is centered on tipping the other fluffy over as is usually the case.
 - >The beta is no stranger to pain and winds up winning when the alpha refuses to get back on his hooves.
 - >He stumbles over to the spot between the two pregnant fluffies and sits down.
 - >The herd is quite shocked, but they accept this new development.
 - >The next day, they are all spinning in circles with the new orange alpha male.
 - >He hasn’t even pulled at his coat once and he usually did it every thirty minutes.

 - >The new beta is the previous alpha and takes up a spot near where the original beta had been sulking.
 - >The new alpha wanders around the herd until it notices the smoke grey pony sitting by himself outside the herd.
 - >“He fwend. He good fwuffy. No fwuffy wonwy. Give hugs,” the alpha tells his herd.
 - >The other fluffies accept the beta back into the pack and there is unity among them once more.
 - >Two days later, mating starts again.
 - >The new alpha gets first pick and grabs the pony it had tried to get the last time and lets out all of his sexual frustration on her.
 - >His pecker eventually breaks off in her and he begins to bleed to death.
 - >They all try to hug him to make it go away, but his fate is already sealed.
 - >He will die as so many male fluffies have died before him.
 - >The previous alpha, who didn’t seem to have any problems mating, will likely regain his superiority.
 - >Well, at least the beta got laid.
