> Two fluffy ponies catch your eye
> Similar white coats and pale blue manes; one is a unicorn, and the other an earth pony
> Choose the earth pony; less chance of accidents
> Fluffy pony seems overjoyed to be chosen
> Hugs you tightly as you fill in the last of the paperwork
> Tell him his name is Snowball
> “Yay! New name fo' Snowball!” he cheers
> Strap him in to the child's car set you bought, and drive him home
> On the way, he starts to look worried
> “Wan' cookie,” he says
> Assure him that he can have a cookie when he gets home
> He seems to calm down
> Get him home, show him the safe room
> He snuggles down in the nest of blankets in the corner
> “Cookie now?” he asks
> Say yes, and head to the kitchen
> Come back with a plate of chocolate chip cookies, and set them down in front of Snowball
> He doesn't pay them any attention
> He gets more agitated
> “Why no cookie! Wan cookie!”
> Fetch different types of cookie for him
> Still not satisfied
> “Wan' Cookie! Wan' sistah!”

> You remember the unicorn with the same colour scheme
> Tell Snowball to stay where he is
> Drive back to the shelter
> Cookie has already been adopted
> They can't give you the details of the person who took her, though they assure you she's gone to a good home
> Drive home, stop at the hardware store on the way
> When you get back, Snowball is in tears, sobbing for his sister
> You have no choice but to reset him with a battery
> Snowball seems happy enough afterwards
> Doesn't seem to even remember he had a sister
> But you think he must remember on some level
> Cookies are now his favourite food
