- >A shiveringly cool nighttime breeze rolls up your spine as you stand under a great dying willow at the edge of a hillside crag. Its decrepit arms hang down low to the ground, swaying ever so in the whistling winter winds.
- >A thick fog radiates from your face with every breath, quickly dissipating in the cascading snow. glancing upward, you immerse yourself in the pale glow of the moon, and gaze into the deep starry night.
- >You've always enjoyed nights like these, loosing yourself in their quiet and peaceful charm. There you stand gazing for hours, watching an eerily familiar blueish purple galaxy spin in the starlit sky.
- >A smile briefs your face as memories wash over you of what once was. Yet it leaves as quickly as it came, only to be replaced with the sullen thoughts of what you may never have again.
- >Averting your gaze from the starry night, you cast eyes down and across the horizon. In the distance you see the silhouette of a towering city hanging from a steep mountainside.
- >Your mind wanders to the past as you relive the memories of your first few weeks in this new, strange world.
- >Weeks were spent at that very castle, adjusting to your new life and having others adjust to you. You suppose you could say it was the very symbol of your life's change.
- >Glancing upwards, you affix your gaze to that same swirling galaxy alight in the night sky and lose yourself in memories as the hours pass.
- >But soon the stars along with your thoughts fade as the light of the sun casts past the horizon, and the deep black of the night is washed over with the pink glow of the morning.
- >Today marks the third year you've been in Equestria, and is your annual trip to Canterlot to report to princess Celestia.
- >Begrudgingly, you take your leave from the side of your favored willow and begin the descent home.

- >Walking down the dirt path leading home, you stop and stare up at Canterlot again.
- >After all these years since you were first transported here, each year you still come out to visit the spot that you first appeared at.
- >You're not sure why, but you find a sort of comfort leaning up against that willow and staring at the night sky. It feels almost... nostalgic.
- >Yet every time you come out here you always end up sullen and morose.
- >It's been three years, enough is enough. It's time for you to let the past go. You're going to be optimistic about today, and do everything you can to enjoy it.
- >With that in your mind, you find a new pep in your step as you walk back home, excited for whatever may await you.
- >As you travel through the countryside, you can't help but smile. While you may have lost your old life, you've gained a fresh start.
- >You have a few close friends, your own home, a job you're happy with, and you even get to see an old friend today.
- >With the sun rising, the birds begin their daily routine of chirping, the squirrels stir from their trees, and the rabbits begin to scamper out into the fields.
- >The world around you springs to life in-front of your eyes, brimming with joy. Hell, the critters can even SMILE. You have no idea how that works, but you find it best not to question the bright pastel world that you live in.
- >Instead, you take a page from its book and smile yourself, eager to get home and get ready for the train ride to Canterlot.
- >Before long your hilltop home comes into view. Not knowing exactly what a human would require for housing, you were given a rather large amount of land on the outskirts of Ponyville by Celestia to build your home.
- >Entering your home, you head upstairs to your room to begin your packing. Sorting through your clothes, you can't help but notice just how different you life is here in Equestria.
- >You have a nice home, friends, and a career... You may have lost your old life, but who's to say this new one isn't better?
- ----------
- >With your bags packed and a quick double check of your luggage, you head out the door and make your way to Ponyville Station.
- >After just a short while the dirt road turns to maintained streets, and homes and businesses are at every corner.
- >P0nies stop and wave to you as you walk through town, some stop and wish you a nice trip while others just go about their business.
- >As you near the train station, you you spot a familiar purple mare levitating a very long scroll and quill.
- Hey there Twi! All ready to go?
- >Turning to you, she checks off one last box on her list before replying.
- >”Ah Anonymous, there you are! Our train is scheduled to arrive in fifteen minutes.”
- >Levitating a ticket out of her saddlebag and towards you, you grasp it out of the air and put it in your pocket.
- >The next few minutes are spent listening to twilight excitedly talk about the princess, and her schedule for the Canterlot visit.
- >Soon enough the train rolls up and the conductor starts loading ponies and their baggage.
- >Shortly after you and Twilight take your seats, the train blows its whistle and is off towards Canterlot.
- >Idle chatter between the two of you doesn't last long, as Twilight quickly loses herself in one of her many books.
- >Gazing out the window, you watch as the landscape speeds past you in a blur. Soon enough the old familiar sights from trips past come into view.
- >Leaning against the window, you sit with head in hand and recall the first time you embarked to canterlot. The world here is so much different than back on earth, it seems so... pure.
- >You spent the entire trip fixated on your little window of wonders, taking in the sights like a child in a candy shop.
- >Perhaps the only thing running faster than the train was your mouth, you assaulted Twilight with a barrage of questions about how the world worked, the history of Equestria, and the wondrous mountainside castle you were heading to.
- >All of which she was more than happy to answer, of course.
- >But even now the world you find yourself in still holds great mystery to you, you doubt you ever will truly get used to it.
- >As you stare at the world passing by, the fatigue of a long night soon catches up to you. Your eyes begin to grow heavy, and you find it hard to focus.
- >The light of the sun beaming through the window warms your skin and the gentle rhythm of the train lulls you peacefully into slumber.
- >The sparkling waters of a crystal clear lake is the last bit of scenery that you can distinguish, as you fall into a deep, restful sleep soon after.
