  1. >You are Echo
  2. >You open your eyes, in a feeling that could be a mix between fear and anger
  3. >It's the second time your slumber has been interrupted today
  4. >Your body it's shaking.
  5. >You can also feel pain in your head.
  6. >You want to scream in frustration.
  7. >But you would never do that, especially now.
  8. >You look for Anonymous' clock, right in his nightstand.
  9. "6 PM,"
  10. >You tell to yourself.
  11. >OH NO, YOU AND ANON ARE GONNA BE LATE TO YOUR SHIFT.
  12. >Wait a minute.
  13. >You remind yourself that you're hanging upside down Anon's ceiling.
  14. >That should mean its only noon in Ponyville.
  15. >This kind of calms you a little.
  16. >However you're still pissed.
  17. >Not sure if you should be pissed with yourself, though.
  18. >You never asked for this.
  19. >You get down to the floor, with the aid of your wings you manage to do it quietly.
  20. >You don't want to wake up Anonymous.
  21. >You take a deep glance at him.
  22. >He's sleeping deeply in his bed.
  23. >So peaceful.
  24. >So exposed.
  25. >You could do it right here, right now.
  26. >If you're quick you won't disrupt his dreams.
  27. >But after that he would find out.
  28. >You know how impulsive he is.
  29. >Maybe he could freak out and yell at you.
  30. >Even if he accepted you, even if you spent all night talking.
  31. >The fear of losing him it's still there.
  32. >And it's even greater than your own nature.
  33. >You decide to get out of the bedroom.
  34. >Once in the lounge, you look at the window that locates in front of you.
  35. >Right now it's closed between wooden doors, just like the other ones.
  36. >Anonymous did a great job sealing them at the daylight.
  37. >That might help him get a better sleep.
  38. >You might open this one, just to see what it lays beyond it.
  39. >But most of the times, sunshine only means ache in your eyes.
  40. >Besides, you haven't sleep properly in the whole day.
  41. >You keep looking at the window for some reason.
  42. >Even if Anon didn't seal them for you, you still think this is a great detail.
  43. >It doesn't prevent you from hearing the sounds of outside, though.
  44. >The valley is working at his peak hour.
  45. >You hear hooves clopping, wheels rolling, ponies laughing.
  46. >You shouldn't be focused on these things right now.
  47. >But you must distract yourself somehow.
  48. >You don't want to do something you will regret in the future.
  49. >Memories from your past respawn in your mind.
  50. >Even if you talked with Anonymous about most of yourself, there are things that he can never know.
  51. >And you assure it's better this way.
  52.
  53. >You were a normal filly like everyone else.
  54. >Once you learned to fly you loved to do it everytime.
  55. >You could always had a smile painted in your face no matter what happened.
  56. >But at somepoint, something got wrong.
  57. >Everything just went downward spiral.
  58. >You started to get thirsty for blood.
  59. >And that did enough to seclude you from the rest.
  60. >Turns out that wasn't normal.
  61. >Bat ponies mostly eat fruit, sometimes eating vegetables and flowers.
  62. >Eating blood was something disgusting.
  63. >Since that happened you were no longer Echo.
  64. >For them, you only were "that pony".
  65. >You didn't knew what to do, you would never bite a pony to drink his blood.
  66. >That would be horrifying.
  67. >You searched for help, as you grew up, so did your blood thirst.
  68. >Turns out you were a freak, an abomination.
  69. >Some people from rejecting you, started to hate you.
  70. >You decided to lock yourself in the haven you called your home.
  71. >You only went outside, to satisfy your creepy needs.
  72. >You would most of the times fly to distant lands, making sure you could only bite animals.
  73. >Sometimes cows would understand your hunger.
  74. >Sometimes.
  75. >When you weren't outside, you were enclosed in multiple books.
  76. >You were sure there should be some information about this somewhere in old scriptures.
  77. >You were right.
  78. >Long time ago, bat ponies drinking blood was something usual and natural.
  79. >It was even in your culture
  80. >Letting another bat pony feed on you was considered romantic and a symbol of trust.
  81. >As time passed by, they evolved into a fruit diet.
  82. >Blood was no longer a source of food.
  83. >THEN WHY YOU WERE SO THIRSTY FOR BLOOD?
  84. >You couldn't help but to feel anger.
  85. >What did you do to deserve such a curse?
  86. >If only your sister were here to help you... but she left to the army a long time ago.
  87. >Midnight.
  88. >You never saw her having this problem, so that means the curse is not upon your family.
  89. >Maybe you were adopted.
  90. >Impossible, you look way to close to Midnight.
  91. >You always felt a connection with her.
  92. >This is your malediction; you will have to bear with this alone.
  93. >You hear birds singing some happy melody.
  94. >You snap to reality once more.
  95. >You've been looking at the window for a long time.
  96. >But this really helped you focus.
  97. >Focus on the important things, what needs to be done.
  98. >You will do whatever it takes so this doesn't interfere with your goals.
  99. >Nor with your dreams.
  100. >You return to the bedroom.
  101. >It's the first time you hear Anonymous' snoring.
  102. >You ask yourself what kind of dreams a human can have.
  103. >You have to admit he's helping you a lot right now.
  104. >Maybe someday he'll let you drink his blood.
  105. >The only thought of it makes you blush.
  106. >You get your hooves on the ceiling again to keep sleeping.
  107. >You close your eyes as your mind wanders about anything you've been through.
  108. >Soon, you fall asleep while listening to a loud snore.
  109. >You will never admit defeat against this bloody curse.
  110. >That was a good one.
  111. >Kekekekekeke...
  112.
  113. >Day minions have spawned in Equestria.
  114. >You are Anonymous.
  115. >Your hand silences the clock, which screams the born of a new day.
  116. >At 2PM; of course.
  117. >You glance at your ceiling to find an sleeping Echo, wrapped in her wings.
  118. >It's the first time you hear her snoring.
  119. >[daaawwws internally]
  120. >You refuse to wake her up, not even gods would forgive you.
  121. >You take a shower and head to the kitchen.
  122. >Once breakfast it's ready, you head to the bedroom to look after your bat companion.
  123. >You wonder what kind of dream she's having.
  124. >It's a shame, but you must revive her.
  125. "Echo, wake up. We have a lot of things to do today."
  126. >All you manage to hear from her it's some unintelligible mumble.
  127. >What_the_fuck_did_you_say_about_me_you_little.txt
  128. >Time to put out the heavy artillery.
  129. >And by heavy artillery you mean a broom, of course.
  130. >You poke the ceiling a couple of times with the stick while screaming.
  131. "RISE AND SHINE MS. ECHO!"
  132. >Echo freaks out for a couple of seconds while she loses her grip.
  133. >She falls right on your bed; a loud screech can be heard as she hits the mattress.
  134. >Victory at last!
  135. "Breakfast is ready, my lady. I would find astonishing if you follow me to the kitchen,"
  136. >you say in the most refined accent you can manage to do.
  137. >Echo remains motionless as she speaks, face planted in your pillow.
  138. >"I hate you".
  139. >Music for your ears.
  140. >Once in the dining room, you remind yourself the plans you have for today.
  141. >While eating of course, a leader can't think properly with an empty stomach.
  142. >Now let's see.
  143. >The briefing of the operation: ´Strong Bat Pony Who Don't Need No Sister.`
  144. >S.B.P.W.D.N.N.S. for short.
  145. >You will spend the afternoon helping Echo get some friends.
  146. >One new friend a day should keep frustration away.
  147. >Once the night comes, you will teach Echo some advanced combat techniques.
  148. >She will soon master stealth, strength and speed.
  149. >The components of a true SSS rank guard.
  150. >However this requires some drastic measures.
  151. >While the sun it's up you will be the best pal she could ever ask.
  152. >Happy, supportive, encouraging, funny, good looking.
  153. >You know, like you always are.
  154. >But in the darkness you will be her master.
  155. >And nobody fucks with the master.
  156. >You will be sure she suffers in order to achieve perfection.
  157. >She must learn that life is though and unfair.
  158. >You will punish the shit out of her.
  159. >In the end she will surely thank you.
  160. >Once your mind is clear, you feel something's wrong.
  161. >Shit, where the fuck is Echo?
  162. >You return to the bedroom to find her snoring deeply in your bed.
  163. >God dammit Echo.
  164.
  165. >You are walking through the trails of Ponyville.
  166. >Echo's starting to get impatient.
  167. >"Anon, where are we going?,"
  168. >she asks while poking your leg steadily.
  169. >Words of wisdom come out from your mouth.
  170. "You don't even know anything about this village so telling you would be pointless."
  171. >She gives you a stare that wishes your death in the most slowly and painful way.
  172. >You playfully stick your tongue at her while smiling.
  173. "We're going to see a little family, maybe they can show you the warmth this town has to offer".
  174. >They live pretty close to the forest.
  175. >You both can easily go to work after you're done with your visit.
  176. >After more walking, you and Echo find yourselves in front of an apple orchard.
  177. >There is a big red barn in the middle of it, which managed to catch Echo's attention.
  178. >"Ooooh! They live in an apple farm?"
  179. "That's right; it's been a long time since I came here for a visit,"
  180. >you say while you rustle her mane.
  181. >You don't think it twice and you head right at the door.
  182. >There could be a funeral inside there and you wouldn't give a shit.
  183. >There's only one thing to want to see right now.
  184. >A good old friend.
  185. >"Anonymous! I'm so happy to see you."
  186. >The whole family is present... and Applejack it's here too!
  187. >She doesn't hesitate as she invites you and Echo to come inside.
  188. >God you missed this barn so much.
  189. >When you first arrived to Equestria, the Apple family took you in as one of theirs.
  190. >You worked hard all day bucking apple trees.
  191. >You never gave a single fuck.
  192. >Applejack was the best boss ever.
  193. >And if the good pay wasn't enough, they gave you a place to sleep.
  194. >Plus three foods a day by the amazing hooves of Granny Smith.
  195. >That's not even the best.
  196. >All the hard work gave you the sexiest body you could ask for.
  197. >LOOK AT YOUR MUSCLES.
  198. >LOOK AT THEM ABS.
  199. >You are hotter than the star Celestia raises everyday.
  200. >You give Applejack a big hug as Echo slowly makes her presence inside.
  201. "This is Echo, my loyal companion,"
  202. >you say, while hugging her with your right arm.
  203. "She helps me clean the village from any bad guys."
  204. >Echo seems a little embarrassed.
  205. >She looks at the floor as you can hear some pasta fell to the floor.
  206. >"Well to be honest... I haven't done anything useful yet."
  207. >You laugh noisily.
  208. "She just says that because she's new, but who knows how many villains she's gonna beat in her long career?"
  209. >Applejack gives a vigorous nod, giving her seal of approval.
  210. >"He's right Echo, I'm damn sure everyp0ny feels safer now that you are here."
  211. >What's that supposed to mean?
  212. >Applejack calls Big Mac and Applebloom to come here.
  213. >She insists in inviting you and Echo to stay the evening here for dinner.
  214. >Granny Smith it's already making it.
  215. >AWWWWW YISSSSSS!
  216. >That can only mean one thing.
  217. >Sweet apple pie.
  218. >You introduce Echo to the family and vice-versa.
  219. >She should easily become friends with Applejack of Big Mac while she's in here.
  220. >If that doesn't work you will have to put her on Cherillee's school or some shit like that.
  221. >Dinner went pretty cool.
  222. >While everypony was eating, you told them the story of how you met Echo.
  223. >How the princess came exclusively to you, asking your help.
  224. >Because only the best warrior of all of Equestria can train this little prodigy.
  225. >Ok maybe you edited the story a little bit.
  226. >Meanwhile, Applebloom stalked Echo with a lot of questions about her.
  227. >That was normal.
  228. >She did the same to you while you were living with them.
  229. >Echo reserved herself to only talk in reply to any question about herself.
  230. >Now the time has come to give this bat pony a little test.
  231. >You whisper something on Applejack's ear.
  232. >After some mumbles she understands and winks at you.
  233. >The cowmare quickly stands up and goes outside the barn.
  234. >Right after that she screams in faked urgency.
  235. >"HEY ANON, CAN YOU COME HERE AND HELP ME WITH... SOMETHING?"
  236. >Shit, you forgot how bad she's at lying.
  237. >You mentally facepalm as you go outside.
  238. >This means Echo is now alone with the Apple family.
  239. >And you are outside alone with Applejack.
  240. >She looks at you with a raised hair brow as she asks.
  241. >"Why are we doing this again?"
  242. >You squint at the sky while opening your arms.
  243. "My supreme plan is to leave Echo alone with random people."
  244. >Now you fully managed to confuse Applejack.
  245. >"Why?"
  246. >You give the orange pony the best ´are you serious` face you have.
  247. "The answer is obvious, Echo is a great girl, but she has trouble talking to other ponies."
  248. >Applejack only looks at you, nodding at every sentence you say.
  249. "So, if I leave her alone for some time with new people, she will have to participate in a proper conversation."
  250. "This time she should have no problems."
  251. "She's with a filly, a colt and a grandma."
  252. "If she accomplishes to make a new friend before the moon rises, then she will have succeeded."
  253. >"And what will happen if she fails?"
  254. >As soon as AJ finishes that question she realizes now you're one inch away from her.
  255. "Oh you don't want to find out."
  256.
  257. >You are Echo.
  258. >And it seems like Anon won't come back for a while.
  259. >He was right when he told you this apple pie would be delicious.
  260. >You are feasting the hell out of it.
  261. >You don't even realize the way the Apples are looking at you.
  262. >They are literally with their mouth open watching speechless how you murder your treat.
  263. >Once you finally look up at them, you can see it.
  264. >They are shaking.
  265. >But you're not going to hurt them.
  266. >Why would they be afraid?
  267. >"What? Is there something on my teeth?"
  268. >You say, showing them a full view of your fangs.
  269. >Somehow that didn't help you.
  270. >They were perfectly calmed minutes ago.
  271. >Maybe that was because Anon was here with you.
  272. >You feel the anguish that raised over the years was starting to come back.
  273. >Feels bat pony.
  274. >But right now it's now the good time for puns.
  275. >You started to make them since you spent most days reading in your house.
  276. >You never told anypony about this although.
  277. >You were so alone.
  278. >Maybe if you talk about something you will feel better.
  279. >"So... You guys have always lived here?"
  280. >The deep voice of Big Mac it's the only one that replies.
  281. >"Eeeeeeeeyup!"
  282. >There is a short silence where nobody says a thing.
  283. >Let's try again.
  284. >"And do you guys like being apple farmers?"
  285. >A very dumb question now that you think about it.
  286. >Their cutiemarks and names are references to apples.
  287. >The result it's the same than before.
  288. >"Eeeeeeeeeyup!"
  289. >You wish a lighting bolt just came out of nowhere to kill you.
  290.
  291. >Anew, you are Anon.
  292. >You are drinking apple cider with your old boss.
  293. >You laugh while you remember the good old times.
  294. >"Remember when Applebloom tried to recruit ya on the CMC?"
  295. >You nod while giving a big sip to your bottle.
  296. "She tried for days until she realized I would never have a cutiemark."
  297. >You laugh some more until Applejack looks at you.
  298. >"Must feel good to have the most important job in here."
  299. >You job.
  300. >Important.
  301. >Pick one.
  302. "That's not true, AJ. My job consists in looking at nothing for the whole night."
  303. >Especially now since we're at times of peace.
  304. >But she just shakes her head in disbelief.
  305. >"If somepony attacks the city at daylight, what would happen?"
  306. >The answer is pretty easy.
  307. "I suppose princess Twilight will come here in a flash with the elements of harmony."
  308. >She sips some cider while looking at the sky.
  309. >"So when could be the perfect time fer ah strike?"
  310. >Your eyes widen as you finally get it.
  311. "When most of ponies are sleeping at night."
  312. >Applejack nods, making ding noises while she does.
  313. >"You night guards are our last chance against anythang clever enough to be a threat."
  314. >You never thought things this way.
  315. >Everypony trusts that you're going to protect them as soon as they go to sleep.
  316. >You have a big responsibility on your hands.
  317. >And so haves Echo.
  318.
  319. >You are Echo.
  320. >And everything it's going wrong.
  321. >So you decide to just eat in silence.
  322. >Silence that only lasted minutes.
  323. >"Do you drink blood?"
  324. >A curious Applebloom asks you.
  325. >And that was enough to make you choke on your meal.
  326. >After some coughing a piece of apple pie comes out at full speed from your throat.
  327. >You start to sweat rivers.
  328. >Big Mac only watches in silence the scene.
  329. >Granny Smith seems to be dying from a heart attack.
  330. >Quick, say something!
  331. "He-he, from where did you get such a silly idea?"
  332. >Applebloom gets closer to you.
  333. >"I once read a book 'bout a mare that came from Hollow Shades."
  334. >"She liked to drink blood from other ponies in the night."
  335. >What? Now even contemporary literature is against you?
  336. >You can no longer trust in books.
  337. >Big Mac stands up in horror.
  338. >"Is that true?"
  339. >You do your best to not panic and think.
  340. >Just how Anon taught you.
  341. >A little lie can't hurt, right?
  342. "Of course that's not true, that's ridiculous."
  343. >Applebloom doesn't swallow it.
  344. >"But the description of the mare fits exactly how you are."
  345. >Granny Smith starts to panic.
  346. >"A bloodsucker in Ponyville? On the night?"
  347. >This town is your last chance to start a new life.
  348. >You can't let anypony know what you are.
  349. >At least you must try to control this situation.
  350. "That book is only fictional, there's no such things as blood suckers,"
  351. >you say, trying to show a calm voice.
  352. "I promise you that there's nofang to worry about."
  353. >After that you smile at her, but there's something that surprised her.
  354. >Everything is silence once more as you realize what you just did.
  355. >Did you just unconsciously made a pun?
  356. >You get ready to fly in fear, until you hear a giggle.
  357. >Applebloom bursts in laughter while you stand there speechless.
  358. >Soon Big Mac and Granny Smith follow her as well.
  359. >They lost any fear they had against you.
  360. >All because of your silly puns.
  361. >Short time later, Anonymous shows up with Applejack.
  362. >"It's starting to get dark, we should leave now,"
  363. >he says while putting his hand upon you.
  364. >You say goodbye to the apple family.
  365. >They invited you to come back anytime you want.
  366. "Oh I would love to come back so we can..."
  367. >Inmediately you fly up so you can get upside down from the ceiling.
  368. "Hang around someday."
  369. >They laugh aloud as you and Anon make your way out to the barn.
  370.
  371. >You are now walking your way to the outpost for tonight's duty.
  372. >You notice that Anonymous is carrying a bag on his right arm.
  373. "Hey Anon, what's in the bag?"
  374. >He looks at you as he put his free hand inside of it.
  375. >"Oh it's nothing you know, just some boring..."
  376. >He suddenly grabs an orange bottle and shows it right to you.
  377. >"Bottle of Applejack Daniels!"
  378. >You stare at it for some seconds.
  379. "Is that something like apple cider?"
  380. >Anonymous looks at you like if you just said some heresy.
  381. >"This is way better than apple cider, and maybe you can get some of this tonight."
  382. >You give him a little screech of happiness.
  383. >"You already passed your first test, if you approve the next test I'll give you later, we'll celebrate with this."
  384. >First test?
  385. >What he's talking about?
  386. >Maybe you will ask him later.
  387.
  388. >The moon shines at the depths of the night.
  389. >You are Anon.
  390. >You clear your throat so you can start giving orders.
  391. "ATTENTION SOLDIER!"
  392. >Echo's face turns into a serious look.
  393. >She lifts her right front hoof 70 degrees, pointing at the sky.
  394. >That's how she must do it from now on.
  395. >"Sir, yes sir!"
  396. >You're very proud about how she did on your first challenge.
  397. >However, the time has come to prove her in battle.
  398. >The second part of the operation 'S.B.P.W.D.N.N.S.' begins now.
