  1. “This is getting so shady and sleazy, we’ve long since past the point of dodgy. Devious does not even begin to describe the insidious perversity of what is written here. Calling it depraved would be considered a polite gesture.”
  2.
  3.
  4. Gilda was mad, no furious was more like it, Dash just ditched her! Just told her to take a hike! She might not have meant it like that but really how else was she supposed to take it?! Gilda had always been there for dash, they were the best of friends ever since flight camp. But nope, years of friendship just tossed out the window because dash made some new lame pony friends who were pranking her and just being annoying as hell! How was she supposed to act!....Just thinking of them was making her buggy.
  5.
  6. It had been a good half a day since she left ponyville and it was a long flight home so she decided to take a break in the rock quarries that were on the outskirts of ponyville, she needed to let off some steam and maybe have a bite.
  7.
  8. While she ate she took a picture of rainbow dash out of her wallet and looked it over, seeing those happy times with her and RD at camp made her want to cry but she didn't. She started hitting the stones around her to let out some steam "Stupid Fucking dash! Lying flip flopping piece of crap!" She yelled out smashing a few rocks. "'Oh come to ponyville, Haven't seen you in forever'....Yeah when I get there you can't even take a day off work to hang! Rrr! Stupid new friends! Stupid everything!" She had tuckered herself out and scraped up her claws pretty good.
  9.
  10. From being so tired she collapsed and panted, her panting was cracked and shaking almost like crying but she still wouldn't let herself cry.
  11.
  12. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  13.
  14. Twilight was out testing a refined version of Rarity’s gem finding spell that worked by scrutinising the optical and acoustic properties, and thermal heat capacity of lattice structures to divulge structural composition within a reasonable margin of error.
  15.
  16. In the optical branch, multiple types of ions oscillate in opposite phases, in the acoustical branch they oscillate in the same phase. This results in a much larger induced dipole moment for optical oscillations, and also a stronger emission and absorption of radiation. Furthermore each branch has three polarization directions, one longitudinal and two transversal.
  17.
  18. She would have continued with her internal monologue, she also would have continued chastising herself for forgetting to bring a notebook to keep jotting down her marginal improvements to the spell had she not then been subjected to a sudden, unbidden skull throbbing migraine as the rock samples she was probing at a non-trivial distance where being smashed leaving her dizzy and disorientated for the brief duration that the spell was maintained after losing the necessary heighted level of focus needed to sustain it.
  19.
  20. She also got hit in the head from haphazardly thrown debris. It would appear some local or passing fauna is relieving some frustration through the systematic demolition of rocks in its immediate vicinity. Unfortunately for her, judging by the roar of the enraged creature she was not far away, nor the deliberate target of the thrown rock.
  21.
  22. Following the general trajectory of the rock that hit her she came across a panting griffon who was covered in rock dust and who had tears rolling down her face even though she was -still- making a futile effort to hide her obvious pain. Not only pain of her sore talons but her emotional pain. Even when nopony was watching she still put up a tough front. The griffon didn't seem to even notice the pony who was now watching her just focusing on bandaging up her scratched up talons."Dumb rock." she muttered to herself wrapping her claws up.
  23.
  24. It had been less then thirty-six hours since last she saw this creature, and less than nine hours since last she administered first aid. (Spike and injury share an intimate familiarity. Not that it stopped her from expecting him to continue working. If he had enough strength to complain then he certainly had enough strength to work.)
  25.
  26. Seeing the Griffon in emotional turmoil caught her interest. Griffons aren’t supposed to act like this. At least not based on the books she’s read: Griffin Est, Et Regna Superb [Griffin, {and} the kingdoms of the proud things,] 2nd Edition.
  27.
  28. It was the Griffin Kingdom’s motto Superbus et regnum: Proud and Regal. Public Relations with emissaries of that sovereignty are almost impossible to be maintained without insight into Griffon psychology. They abhor what they perceive as weakness of character in others as well as themselves. For them loyalty, devotion and dependability are perceived as the highest virtues. For them betrayal is the greatest crime: The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies... It comes from Friends n loved ones.
  29.
  30. This heightened emotional display of anguish confirms her earlier suspicion that Gilda’s belligerent departure was a front for the emotional turmoil she was experiencing at the party.
  31.
  32. She should have been feeling compassion and concern for this poor creature had it not become the unhealthy focus of her fascination, a new novelty to her all consuming curiosity.
  33.
  34. Should Gilda have looked at her she might have caught the manic grin and crazed look in Twilight’s eyes that she exhibited for a split second. Had she not been so caught up in her own anguish she would have instinctively know to run. But now it’s too late.
  35.
  36. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  37.
  38. The griffon looked up seeing that lame purple unicorn dorky bangs! How the hell did she get ditched for that dork!? Just seeing her made her fill up with rage and she picked up a rock and chucked it at twilight "Hey! Take a picture it’ll last longer! What do you want anyway, I’m already leaving your stupid town!" she yelled flaring her wings up threateningly. "...Didn't anyone teach you it's rude to stare!" she added getting a little creeped out by that manic grin. ".....I'l...I'l kick your ass if you don't fuck off!" she added backing off a bit.
  39.
  40. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  41.
  42. She made herself flinch with a nervousness she didn't actually feel, then visibly stiffened her shoulders and her resolve. She saw Gilda’s anger for what it was. Attempted bravado to hide the hurt.
  43.
  44. With her (perverse) understanding of the magic of friendship she was going to make Gilda feel better. Wether she’d like it or not: She was going to play with this Griffons ego like a violin. She almost felt repugnant by the way her thoughts worded themselves. She was going to help Gilda. She was going to get it done right! Or so she told herself.
  45.
  46. Twilight reacted the way she once would have, starting to speed up her words, and glance around nervously. "…if it's a problem, I'm sorry I intruded didn't mean to cause any trouble, I feel guilty enough for offending you. I should go now before I make myself look any more foalish…"
  47.
  48. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  49.
  50. Gilda rolled her eyes and laid down, laying her head on her crossed forelegs "Yeah. You do that." she replied in a rather snappy and obviously annoyed manner. Gilda's claws were all bandaged up showing she'd been hurtin herself...Only responsible thing to do was to 'help' her and keep her from doing something stupid to herself. Or anypony else for that matter.
  51.
  52. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  53.
  54. Twilight smiled nervously, giving the impression she was doing her best to not upset Gilda. Responding in the way of suggestion and reassurance as though providing Gilda with the respect and admiration she felt she deserved. “While those bandages might do the trick, there is still the all too real risk of infection: If the wounds become septic it will become agonisingly painful and your forelimbs might drop-off, if you don’t die from blood poisoning first should the bacterial infection exceeds the saturation-threshold.”
  55.
  56. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  57.
  58. She huffed "Fine, how are you gonna help. Gonna poof up some rubbing alcohol or something with that freaky magic of yours?" she asked sarcastically letting the mare approach her. She was a bit too tired to question her intentions and her claws did hurt a lot.
  59.
  60. Twilight smiled (perhaps a bit too eagerly.)
  61.
  62. “There are certain limits and restrictions on what I can, as you put it’ poof up.’ But first let’s get you cleaned up!”
  63.
  64. Without hesitation or prompt for consent Twilight conjured a rather pathetic looking excuse for a cloud. Lacking the elegance of a pegasi in preternatural weather control the levitating misshapen example of what a cloud shouldn’t look like started to disperse a not quite steady stream of warm water, with a mix of surfactant cleaning compound (all purpose fur and feather suitable soap,) and a very, very mild sedative that would be absorbed through the Griffon’s skin and make its way into her bloodstream to reduce its anxiety and agitation.
  65.
  66. Gilda-Griffon Gilda felt her whole body start to get weak, but like she was on nip or something. It was nice but it was getting hard to keep her thoughts right. She huffed and didn't make eye contact with twilight while she washed her claws, she was a stubborn griffon that was for sure. She did have to admit, her claws -did- feel a little better.
  67.
  68. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  69.
  70. Seeing that Gilda is more acquiescent after covertly administering the small sedating dosage she decided on being more daring in her approach. Passing Gilda a absorbent fabric she had spun from absorbent fibbers extracted from the local flora.
  71.
  72. “I can’t help you out here. I do have a small camp set up at the castle ruins that should be able to provide an adequate workspace for an examination and satisfactory treatment.
  73.
  74. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  75.
  76. Gilda took the towel and dried off her claws, "thanks I guess." she said a bit under her breath to show she wasn't fully accepting of twilight's help. She tried to get up but she felt very light headed, catnip for griffons could do that. "What was in that stuff you did?" she asked feeling tired but warm and fuzzy. She'd know it was nip if it wasn't for the fact her mind was fuzzy.
  77.
  78. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  79.
  80. Twilight was hoping to win Gilda over by providing the sort of mood improvement that kind-hearted reassurance and compassionate support gives. The fact that eight percept of the material used in the towels construction is shredded catnip is not a fact that is lost on twilight.
  81.
  82. “It was made from material in the surrounding area. It’s easier to grab stuff nearby and repurpose it then just ‘poofing’ things from scratch. So to answer your question it’s most likely made from Lavandula commonly known as lavender, and from what appears to be small shrubs of what looks like Nepeta cataria commonly known as.. oh dear.” She stopped as if to blush with embarrassment and continued hesitantly “.. Cat.. nip.”
  83.
  84. [Plausible Deniability is Magic.]
  85.
  86. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  87.
  88. Gilda's eyes went wide but they slowly became half lidded, the nip was taking effect on her, she suddenly got the feeling she was being played for a chump so she turned around and tried to fly off but the nip was making her wings flap all weird and she just fell over, but the griffon was still trying to get away even if that warm and fuzzy feeling was making her more and more sleepy, Her eyes started to close on their own and she groaned out until she passed out, the last thing the griffon saw as she slipped away was a very creepy smile.
  89.
  90. When she woke she was still in darkness, but she could tell by feeling the cloth around her head that it was a blindfold, her upper body was in a straight jacket and she was like in a dentist's chair which had two metal plates that acted like a vice that could be tightened so she couldn't squirm or get out of her seat. Her two back legs were spread forcibly and held down by thick leather straps.
  91.
  92. The warm fuzzy feeling of the nip was still in her but it was a lot less...It was still enough to make her manipulable though and even if she wasn't tied up twilight could take her down easy at the moment.
  93.
  94. Gilda tried to get a grip on herself and tried to move but found she couldn't "If this is another prank I’m gonna kick your ass!" she yelled out thrashing harder after a bit. She could also feel a collar around her neck "H-hello?" she asked...She was getting a bit spooked from being tied up and left in the dark but she tried not to show it. She was helpless now.
  95.
  96. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  97.
  98. Twilight had a self-satisfied smile. She was in her element [To clarify: She is in a natural or comfortable situation or environment.]
  99.
  100. Socialising with a pony wasn’t at all dangerous (often.) The worst she could expect was for them to leave in a huff after her persistent (although unintentional) flaunting of social cues and procedures that eluded her. If she was to help Gilda who is currently a hazard to herself, to others and Twilight, she needed to do it with precision and tact. Clinical Precision. What could possibly go wrong?
  101.
  102. *Jotting down notes.*
  103.
  104. The subject Gryphon.. Griffon? Griffin? It was at moment she made a mad scramble to books she had on Griffin and realised there was no consistent spelling of the species’ name: This lack of consistency is apparent even within a single column of text. She couldn’t deal with the slightest of blunders even on a good day. This only served as an additional entry on the list of things in Equestria that needed fixing.
  105.
  106. Age: 2X (according to the identification in her wallet.)
  107. Gender: Female
  108. Build: Toned
  109. Eye colour: Yellow
  110. Hair: White feathers with purple tips
  111. Occupation: ..
  112. That one stumped Twilight. Working at.. Doing.. Being. *The unbidden thought of Rainbow Dash and her vernacular use of colloquial speech idiosyncratic to her brought a temporary entry to mind.*
  113.
  114. Occupation: Being awesome.
  115.
  116. Her meticulous attention to details that elude her was interrupted by the wakening of her captive specimen. The newly awoken Griffon sounds lucid enough to question.
  117.
  118. She turned to Gilda, and walked slowly up to her retrained form. Reaching out with a hoof and to gently stroke the Griffon’s neck, ruffling her feather affectionately as a kindly seeming gesture. At least, that’s what Twilight told herself.
  119.
  120. “I see your awake.” She said, as she slowly removed the blindfold she had placed on her earlier.
  121.
  122. “You must be wondering where you are and what is going on? I assure you that I am here to help you to the best of my abilities.”
  123.
  124. She tried giving the Griffon a encouraging, comforting smile. What she ended up displaying was quite the opposite of that. There was an almost depraved enthusiasm in that expression, at odds with the tone she tried to convey.
  125. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  126.
  127. "Untie me you crazy bitch! This has to be illegal even in your crazy kingdom" She yelled trying to pull her head away "And don't fucking touch me! This is kidnapping! You drugged me!" Gilda was getting more and more belligerent by the second, her toes curling as she tried to tug at the restraints on her ankles.
  128. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  129.
  130. Twilight was almost entirely unfazed by the sudden (though entirely expected) outburst. She nonchalantly responded to each of the points of argument that Gilda forwarded for her contemplation.
  131.
  132. “Firstly, my sanity is legally certified she said.” Pointing to the framed document stating that “The Trusties upon the Recommendation of The Principality Office of the Most Serene and Harmonic Lunar and Solar Co-Principality of Equestrian hereby grant Twilight Sparkle irrefutable recondition of her sanity. That her faculties and clarity of conduct is.” The rest of the text was illegible from this distance as the text’s font size diminished as the text continued. The bottom of the framed certificate of qualification in mental and emotional stability was adorned with signatures and wax seals of the chancellors of the Royal cabinet. With whom Twilight was regarded by as dubious and suspect.
  133.
  134. “Secondly, I have been entrusted by Princess Celestia herself to study the magic of friendship.. I am presuming that could only mean that I am imbued with the right to act out in my research endeavours however I see fit.” She turned briefly to Gilda hoping to receive confirmation and feel validated in what she was doing. When all she got was a persistent glare that could have felled less beings, she turned away from that defiant stare begrudgingly before cheerfully continuing her explanation.
  135.
  136. “Since you are unfit to be trusted to not hurt yourself (or others.) As a Bachelor of Medicine, with all rights and privileges pertaining thereto. I am legally your self-appointed surrogate decision-maker due to favourable contrivances in Equestria’s legal and administrative system. The request form I had sent earlier has been authenticated.” She happily pulled a paper from the nearby table and cheerfully waved it in front of Gilda’s face.
  137.
  138. She was going to teach Gilda to embrace harmony, and no amount of lingering doubts and personal fears will stop her. What she was doing was for Gilda’s own good.. right?
  139.
  140. Unbeknownst to either of them the degree of verification was little more than a paper clerk with a stamp going through a pile of papers and stamping them as APPROVED. He’s name is Paper Weight and today had been more tiresome than usual. He had calculated within a desirable level of precision that the amount of paper work sent to him from Princess Celestia’s personal student Twilight Sparkle had required the need to revaluate the department’s internal workings and has resorted to separating newly received work between two categories. Twilight Sparkle and Not-Twilight Sparkle. He had decided on stamping all request forms from Twilight sparkle as approved so as to avoid the repeat incidence of Twilight actually visiting him and taking up the what she perceived as a discrepancy personally. It was easier to approve them himself rather than forward them to the Welfare Bureau because they always just shift the blame to him. He would have preferred to run to Tartarus itself to avoid that insufferable mare if he was under the impression that she wouldn’t have been able to follow him there.
  141.
  142. He reached for the whiskey bottle that he kept hidden in the desk’s bottom draw to drown away the newly risen memories he had worked so hard to suppress. If this kept up he might need to apply for another work leave but hesitated at the prospect of losing out on the employee of the month award.
  143.
  144. His work colleague Coffee Grounds ensured that the entire administration was fuelled with the life nourishing drink that is his namesake. Vast boilers fitted into the inhospitable, labyrinthian catacombs’ redundant support structures beneath the Administration’s most ancient and noble halls delivered the panacea of wakefulness through an intricate brass piping system built especially for this purpose. It also doubled as a local tourist attraction.
  145.
  146. Post Haste (not to be confused with his identical brothers Care Package and Speedy Delivery) got a new albeit temporary promotion with a new office. One fitted with a tap that dispensed coffee directly (thanks to his new co-worker Coffee Grounds.) Since Twilight Sparkle’s personal assistant Spike had gone off on holidays after succumbing to a complete mental breakdown. He has been entrusted with delivering her mail personally. She seemed nice enough, but being around her too long sent chills down his spine. Maybe he was infatuated with.. no.. no it was definitely fear. Yes, he was afraid of being alone with her. He had confided in the exuberant and perpetually jovial Pinkie Pie that he would prefer that she was there when he came to pick up and drop off Miss Sparkle’s mail. Pinkie always had a fresh batch of muffins just for him. He liked muffins. No. he LOVED muffins. But today there wasn’t any muffins. He picked up and dropped off the request form as fast as his wings would carry him. Twilight was pleased with the short latency between sending and receiving her request forms and packages.
  147.
  148. “I didn’t drug you. Unless by drugged you mean that I administered an untested treatment in order to lessen your ill temper. Then also no: because drugging someone is a term loaded with unsavoury connotation. I wouldn’t hurt you Gilda. I’m here to help you.” She smiled sympathetically, as if she actually believed her own rhetoric. All the while checking that the restraints where tight enough.
  149. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  150.
  151. Gilda was still squirming and thrashing around in her seat, her eyes getting a little teary as the bindings dug into her and it sank in that she wasn't going anywhere, Her heart racing in her chest from all this. Eventually she tuckered herself out enough to just lay back and sit still, the large female griffon not making eye contact with her captor and turning her head away.
  152.
  153. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  154.
  155. Twilight almost jumped back in fright as the Griffon thrashed and buckled around in its bonds, in an attempt to break free. She was worried that the bindings might not hold out. But after some time. Gilda slowed her efforts. Her exhaustion was quite apparent as her breathing grew heavy. Worn out by the failed endeavour she simply laid back and sat still. She displayed a deliberate effort to avoid eye contact.
  156.
  157. Twilight saw though Gilda’s characteristic boldness. She tries to play it off like she doesn't care, but underneath this she hides her need for validation, and her fears and weaknesses to look tough. But this was different. This time Gilda seemed almost frightened. No, no, of course not. Maybe. I’m sure this is just as surprising a situation for here as it is to you. After some time she’ll settle down. There’s no need to let her go. It wouldn’t be safe to let her go. SHE wouldn’t be safe to be let loose.
  158.
  159. With that averted gaze it was hard to tell what Gilda was thinking. Like a unread book, an enigma that only needed to be opened for her inspection. She turned her head from her captive.. no, specimen. She turned her head from her specimen to stethoscope that laid on the table. She decided on checking  to make sure that the combination of catnip and mild sedatives hasn’t causes any cardiological effects.
  160.
  161. She outfitted herself with the auscultation instrument, grabbed her notebooks and quick reference guide to Griffin physiology and proceeded to step forward unsure of Gilda’s stance.
  162. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  163.
  164. Gilda gave a few more thrashes in her seat as twilight approached "Don't you fucking touch me you stupid purple bitch!" she yelled huffing a little bit while she tried to hide how exhausted she was, shivering a little bit since it was slightly chilly in the place twilight was keeping her. The griffon was thinking alright, mainly thoughts of how she could possibly get loose but as twilight approached she got belligerent again, not too surprising since she was being held down against her will.
  165. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  166.
  167. It was then that Twilight realised. As reluctant as she was to do it. She might have to gag Gilda. For her own good of course! She’ll understand perhaps (eventually) that what she is doing is for Gilda’s benefit and wellbeing. Perhaps one day..
  168.
  169. Hoping Gilda won’t notice, she deftly grabbed the muzzle and ball gag she had prepared earlier over the durance of Gilda’s drug induced slumber. And approached her slowly at one final attempt at civility before being forced to deny Gilda the capacity for intrusive speech. All that yelling unserved her a bit. It made her question her own motives..
