Title: Aoyin's Journal, Day 32 Author: Aoyin_Nightstreak Pastebin link: http://pastebin.com/YudWYMVn First Edit: Wednesday 7th of August 2013 05:00:35 AM CDT Last Edit: Wednesday 7th of August 2013 05:00:35 AM CDT Day 32   Wow, has it really been an entire month since I lost my old life? I can hardly believe it... The time has passed so fast, and so much has happened. I may have been an observer for the most part, but still, there has been so much. I regret not writing every day while information was still fresh, while details were still vibrant. It may have been for the best, actually. I've noticed how writing brings background thoughts to the front of my mind. Certainly would not have been good after the goat incident.   Speaking of, that is really the biggest thing that has happened, at least for myself. "Goatgate" - was that what I heard it referred to as? - that is.   It's honestly a bit fuzzy, but the short of it is that we (and I can't for the life of me recall who all was there) investigated this... Tower, of sorts. We found it being guarded by a large number of goats, and tried to talk our way passed them. No dice, and they started ignoring us.   After that... I can't remember what sparked it, but the whole situation turned into an all-out brawl. Even now I can't recall much, but from things I've heard I can only guess that we slaughtered the goats. I feel absolutely horrible about the whole thing.   Well, we went into the tower and found God I can't believe that shit. It was a jar of dirt with a piece of paper inside. And what did the paper say? "ur a fgt." It sounds stupid just recalling it, and it also makes me feel silly for losing it for a while after that. Looking back it, both the goat thing and my own problems, shouldn't have happened, but it did, and we'll have to deal with the consequences. If nothing else, I've accepted my fate and have recognized a true friend.   Ah, I almost forgot. Some of us noticed a griffon flying into the mountains, and not too long ago someone picked up an old tome in whatever language it is the griffon's speak. A few people decided to head into the mountains, and I must say that I was surprised with what all we found.   First things to note (and this is cute); Lyrebirds. Not birds, per se, but actual lyres with wings. They were cutting little hunks out of the trees with their strings and I suppose eating the sap. They sounded very nice. Dusk coaxed one onto his head with whistling, but he ended up scaring it off. Silly guy, Dusk. Anyway, the lyrebirds dropped a few feathers and one of their strings when they flew off. I may go back up there and try to find the one with the missing string at some point.   We fought a few timberwolves, one of which had eaten a few berries off this tree and turned all red. Nothing special about it besides its color, which faded after we killed it. I ended up grabbing a fruit from the tree, and cut a few of the woody spikes off of it. I really couldn't tell if the spikes were natural or parasitic.   It got a lot colder up in the mountains, but thankfully I had a blanket with me that I used like a cloak. It worked pretty well actually, and I'm considering getting a clasp made for it, since I don't need it as a blanket anymore. We found a set of caves in the side of the mountain, which Sarge and I flew up to - and may I say, I NEVER want to fly in the mountains again. Freezing cold, it was.   We found the griffon that all of us had seen earlier on. Teren was his name, and he was actually a very friendly fellow. Turns out the tome, which was from the Farbeak clan if I remember correctly, was a record of their rituals and whatnot.         Teren told us of the useful ones, which were the ingredients for a warpaint to keep one awake, and ingredients for a warpaint that keeps the user from feeling pain or exhaustion for a time. The biggest issues with these is that the mixture is supposedly mildly toxic, or at least the magic it calls upon is, since I doubt the berries, rose quartz, or honey badger honey are particularly poisonous. As Teren put it, the rituals would cause mutations if they were used more than once every ~twenty-four hours. He said "day," but I would prefer being safe about that. And besides that, it turns out you have to collect the ingredients yourself or it won't work, since apparently the magic can tell. It's a bit odd, but I wouldn't take the chance. You also have to draw these runes with the paint, which... They're a little complex. I've got them written in my journal right now, and I should really get them to someone else. Able would probably like them.   Anyway, the BIGGEST thing we got out of it was instructions on controlling the weather without pegasi. All that the elements hadn't ruined was just instructions on making it rain, but that's amazing on its own! Of course we were told it could cause floods, so we'll have to be conservative in using that.   Jeez, it's only been a few days and THAT much has happened. And if I had been keeping up I'd remember more details. Well, that's a lesson learned.   ~RP, A.K.A. Aoyin Nightstreak   Afterthought: I wonder if the Princess accepts Friendship reports from us Cannonites, or if that was strictly for the Mane Six. I'd imagine it would have to be, since otherwise everyone in the kingdom would end up sending her letters. Although, I do vaguely recall the CMC sending her a letter.
