summary:
 
the mane6 go to whitetail woods. some kind forest magic appears and they follow it into the woods.
deer appear and run towards them because they are scared of the magic. spike gets stuck in a moor but treebark comes and helps.
treebark knows that he is not really a deer and he goes to ponyville becasue he is curious and wants find a way to be useful for his family. the mane6 however only discuss wether he should live with deer or ponies. spike recognizes and make them listen to him. they find out about the white stag and a way to bring him back.
this makes tb do something for his family and he is now sure where he belongs and the mane6 learned to listen and let people decide on their own where they belong to.
 
notes:
it includes subtle "guard of the forest" magic and a mythological creature (the antler magic could be left out if nobody wants it)
i rushed this. so its not really fleshed out and not explained everything might be detailed enough.
it also lacks the details of the conflict between applejack and rainbow dash and the other mane6.
 that could be borrowed from other outlines though.
not all mane6 have to be in the episode/there all th time

The mane6 and spike go out to whitetail woods to enjoy the first warm days of the spring.
 
applejack is collecting treesap and making new holes into the tree. while doing that strange white magic appears and vanishes towards the forest
 
they follow it into the wood
 
they see a few deer.
 
as they start talking about deer (what they know, if they should talk to them, ...)
the deer get scared of the white magic which turned into a (not neccessarily very) frightening creature
 
they run towards the mane6 & spike
 
the mane6 dodge but spike gets pushed into a moor and the mane6 can't get him out immediately
while the the creature is approaching
 
one of the deer (who actually is not a deer but treebark) curiously notices twilights magic that she uses trying to save spike
 
he returns and helps by distracting the creature by speaking some words in a foreign language
and doing some gestures and eventually gets it to leave
 
when they are safe they talk
he is a bit surprised that he actually made it disappear(maybe something the mane6 did helped without them realizing it)
and becomes overly proud of it for a while(>"King of the Forest") but then gets gets curious about twilights magic and also about the others(flying pegasi, crazy pinkie pie, ...)
 
overwhelmed with treebarks questions one of the mane6 interrupts him and asks why he lives in the forest and ask him about his deer family...
 
treebark knows that he is not a normal deer but he never thought of him as a pony(>implying his parents havent told him
very much about his past but also were not lying to him)
 
he points out that the color of his fur and mane have similar colors of what deer have.
Applejack says not all ponies have to be that colorful. .... pinkie: and thats also why i'm pink
 
in the distance you can see other deer who use some kind of magic with their antlers to make some of the late trees grow leaves
 
treebark explains that to them. he seems to be upset that he cant help with that but the mane6 are too caught up with the fact
that he is a pony living among deer and is questioning his role as deer a little bit.(he doesnt tell them though)
 
treebark decides to come with them to ponyville
 
he goes to their parents who are not so far away and tells them that he wants go to ponyville. they are not very happy about that but let him go.
they dont talk about his past because he is in a rush (they might let him go because they think its good opportunity to let him learn more about his
origin)
from the distance the mane6 misinterpret the little argument between them as if he doesnt really want to live with them. one half of the mane 6
thinks that living in the forest is wrong in general while the other half thinks he should stay with his family no matter what.
 
the parents come over to the mane6 and talk to them about treebark. they still seem a bit strange to the mane6. after a little awkward talking
treebark moves with them to ponyville
 
so while he wants to go to ponyville becasue he is curious and wants to find a way to be useful the mane6 are bringing him to ponyville to
find out if he should live a deer or a pony life
 
they show him around ponyville (song could be placed here) this could be some more scenes from other outlines
he is quite curies but some things seem weird to him
 
the argument which is mostly between applejack and rainbow dash turns into some kind of competition between them
about who is right and who is wrong during the episode.
 
treebark is left out of this discussion and gets more and more upset
 
spike is the first one who notices. because he can relate to him tb tells spike about the reasons why he came here, that he wants to find something
that makes him useful in the community because he doesnt have that deer magic (besides the curiousity)
 
spike gets the mane6 together and make them listen to tb. they understand that they implied things that were not the case and that its him who should decide after all
 
they decide to help him. in the library they find a book about deer and when they see something about that white creature in it they talk about
when they first saw it at the beginning of the episode
 
tb tells him that this is actually the white stag(next page in the book) in a different shape and that he used to come to the forest every year until
recently. they find out that what they(and probably other ponies) did at the beginning of the episode was accidentally disturbing him/forest spirits and scared him away
 
with information of the book and treebark they find a way to bring him back
(this could take place in the everfree forest as this can be some sacred place)
 
they manage him to come back (there would be a scene with the white stag running through the forest and make all the forest behind him grow white blooms)
 
treebark found a way ro be useful and looses the last doubts that he belongs to the deer family,
ponies and deer are brought a little more together
the mane6 learned not to imply things on others and not to decide for them
