bring up another load of building materials >Good thing you’re not a little bitch with acrophobia >The pagasi come and set some lumber and golden shingles near you as you get back to work with some unicorns fixing a gaping hole in the roof. >Something about a dragon or some shit >Don’t care; it’s fucking hot on this metal roof with the sun beating down on you. >You’d have turned down the job, but could use the money. >Plus, it wasn’t really that difficult of a job with magic ponies around. >Wiping sweat from your brow, a chariot pulls up below.   “How are the repairs coming along?”  Celestia asks a nearby guard as she steps to the ground. “Just fine your highness.  Should be finished in a day or two.”  He responds, looking up to the construction crew. “Good, good,” the princess returns, also gazing upwards. >Out of the corner of her eye, she spots a pegasus mare with a tray of refreshments walking out of the school. >Celestia walks up to her. “P-princess!”  The mare bows, nearly dropping the tray. “May I take those?”  She gestures to the tray. “I-I was going to take them up to the ponies working on the roof.” “I understand.”  She smiles brightly as she levitates the tray from her and spreads her wings.   >You hear wings flaps coming up and enjoy the resulting breeze. >The unusual sound of metal horseshoes on the roof causes you to look who it is. “Hello everypony, I wish to thank you for the fine work you’re doing here.”  She holds the tray in front of her. >You set down your hammer and stand up to stretch before walking to her with the others. >A couple of your coworkers warn the princess that it wasn’t safe for her up there. >You’re pretty sure a flying, magic sun deity who’s thousands of years old could handle herself just fine. >Taking a glass from the tray, you smile at her. “Hello, who’re you?” She asks kindly. “Anonymous,” you take a drink, “your highness.”  You add as an afterthought. >During this impromptu break, you answer a few questions from the princess. >You inform the princess that you’re in fact a human and had been in Equestria for a few months. >She seemed slightly troubled that she hadn’t received news of your arrival. >After everyone had finished, the princess took the glasses, thanked you all again and made her way back down, leaving you to continue your work.   >For the rest of the day you thought about your talk with the princess. >She seemed rather interested in you and possibly not in a favorable way. >You hadn’t seen any other humans around, but the princess didn’t even know what you were. >It was simple enough to convince your current boss that humans were creatures in Equestria that he had just never met before, but you were sure the princess wouldn’t be so easily fooled.   >It started getting late and the sun started to set and you thought about the one controlling it. >As your mind wandered, your grip slipped and you ended up smashing your thumb with the hammer you’re wielding. >A stream of profanities escaped you as you shook your hand. >A nearby coworker announced, “All right, maybe we should call it a day.” “Please, don’t quit on my account.”  You spat through gritted teeth while holding your already bruising thumb. >Everyone started packing up and you and a couple unicorns made your way down a ladder through the hold in the roof while others teleported down.   >In the increasing darkness of the evening, you made your way to a pub away from Celestia’s school with some of your coworkers. >You didn’t mention it, but you thought you could feel eyes resting on you from a distance, but you couldn’t see anyone outside of your group. >Some bitter apple cider seemed to be what was on the menu for the night. >Better than nothing, you supposed. >After getting sufficiently inebriated, you said goodbye, closed out your tab and went home to sleep.   >The next morning you woke up to your head pounding. >At least you thought it was your head until you realized it was some heavy-hoofed asshole at your door. >You groggily get to the door in your boxers and find a pair of guards facing you. “Mr. Anonymous, Princess Celestia requests your presence.”  One announces. >Peering out of the door, you see it was hardly past the crack of dawn. “Can I get some proper clothes on first?”  You ask obviously annoyed, though they don’t seem to care. “Make it quick.” The other guard answers. >You shut the door on them and get your working clothes on.  They may not be the most formal, but you won’t need to change before heading back to the job.   >You’re out the door a minute later and start making your way to the castle. >The guards lead you to her throne room.  She sat preparing for her morning court appointments and looked up as you approached. “Anonymous!  Thank you for meeting with me this morning.” “Was there something you needed to talk to me about?”  You yawn. >She nods, “Yes,” she pulls a seat near her throne, “please have a seat.” >You sit down roughly and propped yourself up with your hands on your knees. >For the next hour or so, she drills you about your time in Equestria, from how you got there to how you got your job. “Okay, one last question.” >You groaned. “Why didn’t you come to me sooner?  We could have helped you find out how to get home.” >You shrugged and explained that you simply hadn’t gotten around to it. >Celestia looks at you a moment longer, seeming to reflect on your answers. >She sighs, “Very well Anonymous, thank you for your time.”  She smiles down to you. “I can go?”  You ask, pointing your thumb back to the door. >The princess nods and you quickly make your way out of the hall and into the brighter morning.   >In the following weeks, the school had since been repaired and you’d been assigned to other projects. >Outside of work, you noticed some things that were out of place once in a while. >Stray bit coins strewn on the ground that you looked around for the owners at first, but it started becoming too common of an occurrence. >When you stopped picking up the coins, you started finding small gifts in your mail. >The occasional greeting card, books and the like would show up with no return address and when you asked your coworkers about it, they had no idea. >The next thing you found in your mail went straight in the trash but the following day you found a stuffed bear sitting next to your door. >You decided to bring it inside, worried what you’d find next if you rejected it too.   >For the following few days, the gifts appeared to stop and things seemed to be going back to normal. >On your way to work, you rounded a corner and nearly ran into a certain alabaster princess. “Excuse me, princess.”  You said surprised and noticed she didn’t have any guard around her.  “Out for a walk alone?” “It’s no problem at all, Anonymous.”  She replied all too calmly.  “I’m just enjoying this beautiful morning, how about you?” “On my way to work, actually.  Nice speaking with you.”  You move to get around her and continue on your path. “Would you mind if I tag along?”  Celestia asks, walking beside you. >Her behavior seemed off to you.  “Princess, I’ve been receiving some strange mail recently, would you know anything about it?” “Strange mail?”  She asks and you think you see her smile.  “You could always talk with the Canterlot Postal Service.”  Concern shows on her face. “Yeah, postal service.  I’ll have to do that.”  You respond flatly. “Come now, Anonymous, it’s the start of a beautiful day.  What is your current project at work?”  She tried to brighten you up. >You explained the kitchen remodel you had been working on and what a pain in the ass it’s been. >You neared your job site and looked over to say goodbye to the princess but she was already gone. >You wonder how long you had been talking to yourself.   >A couple more bears appeared at your home in the following week before one morning you ran into the princess without her guard yet again. “Don’t you have some royal duties to attend to right now?”  You ask. >She shakes her head. “No, not this morning.  Plenty of time to enjoy the air,” –she takes a deep breath and looks down to you- “and the company.”  She grins. “I know it’s you!  Stop sending me those damn bears.” “I’m sure I have no idea what you’re talking about.”  She lilted, still grinning. “We both know it’s you.”  You grumble. >Celestia leans down and kisses you on the cheek before whispering in your ear, “Maybe so dear, but no one will believe you.” >Her horn lights and she’s gone in a flash, leaving you alone once again.   >You get to the job site and try to tell the guys what just happened and how Celestia was responsible for your strange mail. >None of them believe you, just as she said. “Why would a pony princess have a crush on you?”  One of them jokes and the rest of them laugh. >You rub the cheek Celestia kissed and pondered on what she could have planned.
