These things I give onto thee What little remains to be seen. I have stopped counting the days The nights themself seem a bit strained.   Upon my highly placed throne do I sit Amongst gods and goddesses As the god of shadow and darkness But not as the god of the night For there is another who fills such a position And she does well to remember That the night is peaceful And I am not.   I have slewn thousands of my own kind with my might Sullied and burned my own kingdoms with delight And in a single instance, my curse grew. From just eternal life, to magnificent power of all kinds Except the light, for it is my bane. Yet none who wield it live today Save one alicorn and her might I do not fear her For in my eyes she is but a hatchling I do not underestimate her For in my eyes she has grand potential   I spend my never ending days as her unwitting guard As a pegasus of jet colored mane and charcoal coat And she seems never the wiser to what I truly am Though I know there will come a day Where she and I must part But I shall find her again And do the hard work Of becoming a guard   Because when I stand by her side and watch over her court I feel what I have not felt in eons The warmth of the sun And though the world has become dull to me She has not
