I preferred your silver
To the Sun's glinting gold
For it carries your splendor
As it heralds the cold
 
Though I cannot speak ill
Of your excellent kin
She did not shine the color
That I treasured within
 
Languid dusks I adored
Still midnights I savored
Yet as long as I've been here
'Twas blue that I favored
 
The gloom can show kindness
With a measure of mirth
As you passed on a lesson
