Title: Harvest Author: Anonymous Pastebin link: http://pastebin.com/Mtcr4UyV First Edit: Wednesday 18th of September 2013 09:55:49 AM CDT Last Edit: Wednesday 18th of September 2013 09:55:49 AM CDT In retrospect it seems impossible and inexplicable but in the dream it felt as real as me typing this out now. It started when thousands of small, black machines descended from the sky and began assembling into a larger device over the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. The device was essentially an inverted version of the Pyramid itself, with its tip facing downwards and touching the tip of the ancient pyramid. Then it began to spin.   In spinning I'm not sure if it opened up portals or what, but people began flying towards it at an alarming rate from all over. They were simply lifted off the ground and flung towards the jet black pyramid. Other pyramids appeared all over the world and performed a similar harvest. All in all they abducted roughly two thirds of the human population. After that they deployed smaller, stupider machines to dispose of whatever the pyramids were unable to scoop up themselves. These however were much easier to avoid and disable.   From then the dream shifted into a more personal experience. Left in my house were me, my mom and three kids my Mom was watching that had spent the night. We didn't know where my Dad or sister were. Any semblance of government had fallen and it wasn't safe to walk the streets unarmed. Food was a something that people fought and killed for. Looting was a regular part of the day. After some worrying and wondering about who among our friends and family may be left after what people were starting to call "the harvest" I woke up.   I have no idea what prompted this dream but it left me shaken. The more and more I think about the consequences about such an event the more it frightens me. Governments would fall and gangs would take their place. Eventually the strongest of these gangs would rise to dominance and the world would begin dividing into City States. Old national borders would vanish. The infrastructure in different areas would begin to decay without people properly trained to maintain them. Some areas would lose power, plumbing, internet, phone, etc. Currency would be worthless. Barter systems would come into place. Fanatics would attribute the harvest to the the wrath of some god or another, cults springing up across the world. Travel by plane, ship, train, etc. would almost cease to exist. Those nations who still retained some degree of leadership and military might would seek to stabilize their own borders and then use the opportunity to expand.
