>Installing the game
Step 1: Download and install AoE II and AoC

Step 2: Download and install the following update (1.0c)

Step 3: Download and copy the cracked files in the correct maps (\program files\microsoft games\age of empires II AND \program files\microsoft games\age of empires II\age2_x1)
 
Even if you use a legit CD it is still recommended to use this crack because it solves some screen issues and makes your game start up faster.

Step 1: Download the following file

Step 2: Start up the patch and select whatever you want
 
Step 3: HOLD [LEFT-CTRL] BEFORE clicking "install" and hold it throughout the installation. This prevents the program to "update" the game to userpatch 1.1 and so remain 1.0c while still getting all the features you need.
 
Step 4: You can now change to whatever resolution you want in the normal in-game menu's.
 
>Playing online with /v/irgins
Gameranger is a client similar to Hamachi that uses a host system where you can browse servers and easily connect with one. You can also keep track of /v/irgins by adding them to your friendslist.
 
Step 1: Download and install GameRanger

Step 2: Type in the IP of your router and open both ports to 16000
 
Step 3: Search for the room "/v/" and type in the following password: rage
 
There's usually a room running every day from ~21:00 GMT till ~02:00 GMT
