  1. >By the time you arrive back to the palace, the place you were beginning to call home, the sun had started to creep below the horizon, making way for Luna’s moon.
  2. >An exhausted Solaire greets you in the entrance, lazily waving to you as you approach.
  3. “You look shattered Solaire. What happened?”
  4. >He sighs, cupping his jaw with his hand.
  5. >”I’ve spent he last few hours with Shining Armour, the would-be captain of the royal guard.”
  6. “Didn’t you already hold palaver with him earlier?”
  7. >”Indeed, but his concerns brought me back yet again. He’s… angry.”
  8. “How so?”
  9. >”For a start, he’s adamant that we should have summoned him back from his honeymoon in whatever foreign land it was. He said that the safety of Equestria was far more important than his trip, and that we were utter fools for not acquiring his help.”
  10. “He seems to be forgetting the part where we took care of the problem ourselves.”
  11. >”I think that’s the only thing that stopped him thrashing me senseless!” Solaire chuckles, a weak smile forming. “But he has a point. In the past we’ve relied on each other, Anonymous, and that’s all we needed. But mayhap it is time to start… I don’t know. I’m rambling…”
  12. “I know what you’re trying to say, and I agree. In Lordran, we didn’t even have anyone else to rely on. But now that we do…”
  13. >You pause.
  14. “Funny that you should bring this up, Solaire. I had a proposition, if you have a moment to listen.”
  15. >”Of course I do, what is it?”
  16. “You obviously know of Rainbow Dash, yes?”
  17. >”Indeed. Why do you ask?”
  18. “Her wing is hurt pretty badly. I plan on visiting her when she gets out of hospital-“
  19. >”And during her visit, I hope!”
  20. “Er, of course. Anyway, she’ll most likely be returning home, as she alluded that Canterlot is not her town of residence.”
  21. >”Ah, so you’ll be leaving to visit her?”
  22. “Perhaps. I’m curious enough to see what other towns in this land hold for me, although I do suppose I’ll remain in Canterlot a while longer.”
  23. >”Well, if it’ to pursue a friendship, then I suppose I have no grounds to complain…”
  24. >Solaire suddenly groans.
  25. >”I think I’m going to go lie down. Word of advice? Don’t get in a shouting match with Shining Armour.
  26. “I’ll be sure to avoid him from now on. Say, what do you plan on doing now that your “duties” have been relieved?”
  27. >”What do I plan on doing? I plan on taking a well deserved break from this entire ruckus!” he chuckles, before sighing. “Yes, maybe a nice relaxing millennia will do the trick.”
  28. “I can’t imagine you shying away from the heart of combat. You don’t suit a passive life…”
  29. >”Well now, I’ve never had a chance to test that, have I?”
  30. “I suppose not. Ah well, nevermind. We’ll just end up talking in circles. I suppose you want to get some rest now, eh?”
  31. >”You don’t know half of it, Anon. I’ll see you come morning then, have a good night.”
  32. “Sleep well, Solaire. I’ll be sure to heed your advice.”
  33. >He grunts in reply, already making his way to Celestia’s quarters, and you sigh.
  34. >Shining Armour sounds like a piece of work… thankfully, with your day being taken up with Twilight, its unlikely you’ll run into him.
  35.
  36. >The following morning, you awaken with your head buried in a book; your body slumped over the table.
  37. >Your initial confusion quickly sidesteps for dismay as you realise your situation.
  38. >With a groan, you haul your head off the desk, the Equestrian encyclopaedia falling to the floor.
  39. “Dammit…”
  40. >”Good to see you’re wide and awake!” calls a cheery voice from behind you.
  41. >You blearily look round to see Twilight Sparkle standing in the doorway, a scroll of parchment levitating by her head.
  42. “Wide, maybe. Awake? Not a chance in hell…” you groan, resting your head back onto the table.
  43. >THWACK!
  44. >You recoil as something smacks your head, and as you wheel round you see a smiling Twilight reeling the scroll back in.
  45. “Do you mind?”
  46. >”Yes, actually. Princess Celestia requested that we do the tests early as possible.”
  47. “And for what ungodly reason did she suggest that for?”
  48. >”Because we’d keep putting it off the later we left it. Now stop complaining and follow me!”
  49. >You wiped your face down with your glove, before sighing.
  50. “Fine. Let’s get this over and done with…” you groan, your joints popping as you rise from your seat.
  51. >As Twilight leads you from the room, you tap her on the shoulder.
  52. “Say, Twilight. Why does Celestia want to bring me out here again?”
  53. >”You’re the sole practiser of a previously unknown magic, Anonymous. Celestia herself witnessed what it could do, and she’s simply curious to learn more about it.”
  54. “I see… very well, I’ll comply this time.”
  55. >As you make your way out into the courtyard, the Princess herself is there to great you.
  56. “Ah, good morning Princess!”
  57. >”Thank you, Anon! I hope you will not hold it against me for dragging you out at this hour!” she says, flashing you a smile.
  58. >You almost snap back at her, but that smile… you feel your anger melting away.
  59. “It’s no problem at all, Princess. Honestly.”
  60. >She giggles. “Very well then! If you would be so kind…”
  61. >She trails off, and you shift uncomfortably.
  62. “Uh, I beg your pardon?”
  63. >”If you would be so kind as to demonstrate your pyromancy, of course!”
  64. “Ok then… will I just show you a couple of spells?”
  65. >”That would be most helpful.”
  66. >Twilight begins to jot something down on the scroll of parchment as you make your way over to a wooden practise stand.
  67. “Ok, let’s begin.”
  68. >You snap your fingers on your right hand, and the familiar flame springs into existence, eliciting a whistle from Celestia.
  69. “I don’t need to snap my fingers by the way, it’s purely for effect” you chuckle, before concentrating.
  70. “You see… a pyromancer's flame is no mere catalyst…” You will the flame to grow in size, forming a mesmerising orb of flame. “A pyromancy flame is linked to the very core of its wielder. It grows and wavers in time with the soul of the pyromancer. There is no knowledge to be learnt, no faith to uphold. It simply… is.”
  71. >With a flick of the wrist, you launch the orb at the target dummy, coating it in flames. Within seconds, the searing flames burn through the dummy and it collapses into a pile of ash.
  72. “Any questions?”
  73. >”Well, even with experience behind me, I am compelled to ask… to what extent to your pyromancy work?”
  74. “You mean, how powerful can I let it become?”
  75. >”Indeed. You mentioned it relied solely on the wielder…”
  76. >You pause, before conjuring another orb.
  77. >You let the flame circulate and build, the intensity growing stronger and stronger. Even Twilight stops writing to gape at the sight before her.
  78. >Within seconds, an orb of flame the size of your head is pivoting on your palm, draining your energy at an alarming rate.
  79. >”Anonymous! I do think that’s enough!” you hear Celestia call, and you dissipate the flames immediately.
  80. “As you can see… there’s no limit to how strong the flame can do. It is only… it is only your will to exist that binds the flame.”
  81. >Celestia’s eyebrows arch in surprise as you groan. “Anonymous? Are you quite alright?”
  82. >You slump against a post, breathing heavily.
  83. “I’m fine… pyromancy may not require intelligence or faith but it damn requires a full stomach and a good nights sleep…”
  84. >Celestia covers her mouth in horror. “Oh, where are my manners? Marching you out here before a single bite to eat? I do apologise, Anonymous.”
  85. “Don’t worry about it. You couldn’t have known pyromancy does this to a person… regardless, a bite to eat sounds wonderful right now.”
  86. >In that case, would you like to join me for breakfast?” Celestia giggles.
  87. >You perform a mock bow for Celestia, her cheeks flushed red.
  88. “It would be my honour, Celestia.” You say sarcastically, before chuckling and turning to Twilight.
  89. “Twilight, care to join us? It’ll make up for your ungodly entrance this morning!”
  90. >”Sure I will! There’s just one person I need to see first.”
  91. “And who might that be?”
  92. >”Shining Armour, of course!”
  93. >You halt immediately.
  94. “Why him? Solaire didn’t exactly give a shower of praise in regards to his manners…”
  95. >”He specifically requested information about you…” Twilight grins in embarrassment. “I mean, you’re alright with it… right?”
  96. >You pause.
  97. “Tell Shining Armour what he needs to know. Anything else and he’ll learn his place…”
  98. >Twilight’s grin falters. “You want me to tell him that?”
  99. “Please. But… after Breakfast.”
  100. >”If you insist.”
  101. >Together with Twilight and Celestia, you make your way out of the courtyard. Hopefully, Shining Armour wouldn’t be a problem…
  102. >”Oh! Did I mention he’s my big brother?” Twilight says enthusiastically.
  103. >…
  104. >This might get a little… un-chivalrous.
