A Dash of Apple Sauce: chapter 14

>It’s been 2 days since Applejack was last seen boarding a train in P0nyville station.

>There’s been no word from her as to where she is. All she said in the note was, “I’m sorry.”

>Big Macintosh had been upset, but accepted his sister’s departure. He said it wasn’t the first time she’d left, that she could take care of herself, and that she’d return when she wanted to. Applebloom had been… confused. She hadn’t been told about the situation that caused her leave, so you had to just tell her that she needed to leave. You could see it upset Applebloom deeply, not knowing why her sister left.

>It hurt you as well. You tried to make things right with Applejack, and ended up running her out of town. She broke your heart, but you ruined her life.

>And here you were, sitting in the bar with Rainbow Dash, wondering what went wrong.

>”Don’t worry about it Anon, I’m sure Applejack will come back soon.” She says reassuringly.

“I don’t know about that…”

>”Well, you’ve got to hope anyway.”

>You sigh.

“I am hoping, but deep down I fear that she won’t come back and I’ll be to blame.”

>”You won’t be responsible Anon. She decided to leave, it was her decision.”

>You drink deeply from your pint, pausing to enjoy the atmosphere of the crowded bar.

“I know, but I still feel guilty anyway.”

>Rainbow Dash leans her head onto your shoulder, and you feel slightly better.

“I just… I said I was willing to forgive and be friends. Was that not enough?”

>”You’ll drive yourself crazy if you keep thinking about this Anon. Applejack made her choice. Now we have to accept it.”

“You’re right. I just hope she’s okay…”

 

>Year 1 in Equestria

 

>Today is the day that marks your first year in Equestria.

>It’s been a crazy year, for sure.

>Who else can claim to having fallen into a p0ny filled world, and then fallen in love with a p0ny, twice?

>You feel a pang of sadness as you think about Applejack. It had been almost 4 months since her departure, and you still didn’t know if she was ok. No-one had heard anything about or from her, but you still held hope of her returning to P0nyville. Everyone missed her, dearly…

>Now’s not the time to think about that. Now’s a time for celebration.

>Pinkie Pie has thrown you an anniversary party, and invited the whole town. A pavilion was set up in the park, and food, drink and music was organized.

>You have something planned though. Tonight was going to be remembered for more than your first year in Equestria… but for now you just relaxed, socialised and enjoyed the moment.

>As midnight arrived, you whispered a few words into Vinyl Scratches ear’s, who was busy blasting wubs from the speakers. She nodded, and began speaking into the microphone.

>”Ladies and Gentlecolts, if I could have your attention please! Anon wants to say something!”

>P0nies stop and turn to watch you as you take to the centre of the pavilion. You give a slight nod to Rarity, who tries to suppress screams of excitement.

“Rainbow Dash, come here!”

>She flies over and lands in front of you. “Something wrong, Anon?”

“Close your eyes for me sweetie, and don’t open them until I say so.”

>She gives you a curious look before complying, shutting her eyes tightly.

>And here we go.

>You pull out a small, velvet bound box from the inside pockets of your coat, and kneel in front of Dash. Around you, p0nies gasp and whisper.

>You open the box, and tell her to open her eyes. She gapes at the golden band in front of her.

“Rainbow Dash, I’ve only known you for a year, but you make me complete. I’ve never been happier than when I’m with you. I’m asking you now… will you marry me?”

>She stares at you with an open mouth, before tears start streaming down her face. Your heart sinks…

>”Of course Anon!” she shouts before tackling you with a kiss. You distantly hear p0nies cheering as you embrace Rainbow Dash. She hops off you and holds a hoof up, tears of joy still streaming down her face.

>You slide the golden band embedded with 3 stones over her hoof and along her leg, and she admires it in awe.

>”What gems are these?”

“They’re rainbow stones. They change colour as you watch them.” As if to prove your point, the stones change colour from a deep blue to a fiery red.

>”It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, Anon.”

“Only fitting for the most beautiful mare I know.”

>She kisses you again, before hugging you tightly. “I love you Anon.”

“I love you too, Dashie.”

>A collective daaaw emanates from the onlookers, and the whole pavilion erupts into applause.

>”Where did you get the money for this? You said you used it all to buy our house.”

“I did. Rarity provided the gems.”

>Rainbow Dash turns to face Rarity, who still looked like she was choking on something. >“Rarity, you’ve really outdone yourself this time…”

>”It’s alright darling. Anon offered me something I simply could not resist!”

>”Which was?”

>Rarity finally cracks. “He said I could design your dress! Isn’t this simply wonderful! I always dreamed of designing a best friend’s wedding dress! This is going to be simply wonderful!” she screams, before fainting, a comically large grin on her face.

>”I should have known.”

>Pinkie Pie comes bounding over. “Oh my gosh Anon! This is so amazing I’m going to have to throw another party tomorrow! And we’ll have to start planning for the wedding after party! We’ll need cake and balloons and streamers and…”

>Pinkie Pie continues to ramble on as you and Rainbow Dash stare into each other’s eyes, smiling.

“So, do you want to head back to the house now?”

>”Sure thing Anon. You deserve to be rewarded for this…” she gives you the sultry grin which she knows you love and you scoop her up into your arms, carrying her out of the pavilion.

>”Let’s give it up one last time for P0nyville’s newest engaged couple!” Vinyl shouts, and the pavilion is filled with applause one last time.

>You make your way back to your home into which you moved into a couple of weeks beforehand. Larry hadn’t liked you two living above the bar with him, so you bought a small house on the outskirts of town for you and Rainbow Dash to live in. She hated giving up her Cloudsdale home, but you, for obvious reasons, couldn’t live there with her.

>You carry Rainbow Dash up to the bedroom, and lay her down on the bed, before climbing on with her. She kisses you, whilst moving a hoof down towards your crotch, and you tug gently on her mane.

>”What?”

“Before we do this, I’d just like to say thank you. It means so much to me.”

>”It means the world to me too, Anon.”

“Love you Dashie.”

>”Love you, Anon.”

>And with that simple exchange, the two of you embrace.
