- >You're sitting up in bed
- >The sun isn't phasing you this morning
- >Though you prefer it to waking up screaming
- >Seriously man, that was some fucked up shit
- >You can barely remember anything besides running, though. Lots of running
- >Holding your head in your hands, you try to remember anything else
- >Y'know, besides the running
- >...Nope, nothing
- "Fuck it...better to forget and move on."
- >You look to your side and notice Pinkie's gone
- >And she was able to leave without you noticing
- >Well, she -is- Pinkie Pie
- >You shrug and get up, going through the normal morning routine
- >After exiting the shower, you look out the window above your desk
- >It's a bright, sunny day. Nearly every day is
- >Dash really knows how to clear the skies
- >You look to your bed and notice a note sticking out from underneath of the blanket
- >You pick it up and read it
- >"Anon,
- >Had to go to the bakery
- >Gotta work all day
- >Come by tonight
- > XOXO -Pinkie Pie"
- >You place the note in your desk, not wanting to throw it away for some reason
- >You walk downstairs. Spike's still knocked out on the couch
- >The blanket is on the ground and he's cuddling with the pillow
- >You tiptoe past him into the kitchen
- >You look in the fridge...nope, nothing quick and easy
- >The cupboards? You find a box of pancake mix. Perfect
- >You may not be the best cook, but pancakes are almost impossible for you to fuck up
- >Unless you count that one time Applejack knocked on your door...except for the knocking part
- >"Bucked down" seems more appropriate
- >Then again, the pancakes were the least of your worries at that moment
- >You shake away the bad memory and start on the pancakes
- >Two big stacks, topped off with berries, creme and butter
- >Aww yeah, pancakes are the shit
- >The smell apparently wakes up Spike, as he walks through the kitchen archway as soon as you set the plates on the table and sit down
- >His eyes go wide for a moment, then he quickly zips to the chair opposite you, grabbing a fork and digging in
- >You smile
- "Y'know, a 'thanks, Anon' would be nice."
- >"Fankf Amom"
- >He then continues to munch on his stack
- >You laugh and dig in to yours
- >You watch Spike as he destroys the pancakes, steadily munching on your own
- >It reminds you
- >His birthday is in a few days
- >You oughta do something nice for the little guy
- >Something different than getting him a half a dozen sapphire cupcakes. You've been doing that every year since the Cakes made them
- >No, something drastic
- >Something he'll love
- >Love
- >That's fucking it
- "So Spike."
- >"Hmm?" He looks up at you, finishing the last of his pancakes
- "This thing you have for Applebloom..."
- >He nearly chokes on his mouthful of pancake
- >Paaaaancake
- >One coughing fit later, "What about it?" He says with an uninterested tone.
- "What would you say to me...sorta...helping you out a bit?"
- >It's silent for a few seconds
- >You expect him to reject your help
- >He breaks the silence
- >"You...you'd do that?"
- "Of course I would! I've got your back, no matter what. Know what I me-"
- >You're interrupted as Spike jumps from his chair across the table and latches onto your left arm in a death-hug
- >"Thanks, Anon."
- "Hey, no prob. You're my bro. You need help, you just say the word and I'm there. You're Woody, and I'm your Buzz."
- >Spike squeezes harder
- "Now, let go before my arm falls off, wouldja?"
- >You both laugh
- >"So how're we gonna do this?" Spike asks, sitting on your shoulder as you walk through town
- "Well, let's start by assessing the situation."
- >"Huh?"
- "Seeing where we're at."
- >"We're in the middle of Ponyville."
- "No, I me- Oh cut it out."
- >He chuckles
- "Ha Ha, very funny." You say with a smile. "Alright, so what's today?"
- >"Thursday"
- "Okay, so Applebloom's probably in school right now. That gives us some time to think this through."
- >"Wha? You mean I have to do it already?!"
- "Well duh." You say flatly. "Don't worry, it'll be easy."
- >"Easy for you to say..."
- "Nah, it'll go smoothly. Just you watch."
- >"And what am I supposed to say?"
- "We'll cross that bridge when we get to it."
- >"Okay...so what're we supposed to do until she gets out of school?"
- "Jeez, you sure ask a lot of questions."
- >"Anon..."
- "Kidding, kidding. Well, I guess we can go to the library. See what Twilight's up to. Maybe even let her in on this little plan. Whaddya say?"
- >"Alright, but I don't want Twilight to know anything just yet."
- "Fair enough."
- >As soon as you enter the library you're greeted by...what a surprise. Piles of books
- >Lines of them are floating in the air surrounded by a purple aura; Twilight with her back turned to the door
- >Seems she's doing her bi-monthly re-shelving
- "Hey, Twi."
- >She turns around and smiles
- >"Spike, Anon, good to see you."
- "Likewise"
- >"Do you need me for anything? As you can see I'm sort of busy."
- >"Nah, you're okay. We're just here to kill some time."
- >"Oh, alright. There's fresh tea if you would like some."
- "Cool, thanks."
- >You and Spike walk to the kitchen and pour some tea, chatting to pass the time
- >You finish your third cup and set it on the table
- "Alright, I think it's about time."
- >Spike looks up to you
- >"How can you tell?"
- "The sun was almost at the highest point in the sky when we got here. I'm guessing it's past noon by now, so Applebloom should be getting out of class."
- >"Are you sure I gotta do it today?"
- "It's either that, or tomorrow. If not tomorrow, then we're taking a trip to Sweet Apple Acres on Saturday."
- >"You're not letting this go easily, are you?"
- "Not a chance."
- >"Alright, then I guess I'm all in."
- "Who said you had a choice?"
- >Spike smiles
- >He gets on the table and walks across, jumping on your shoulder
- "You ever consider I get tired of carrying you?"
- >"Nope."
- >You both laugh as you walk out of the library
- >You walk up to the school-house
- >Fillies and colts are exiting through the door, Cheerilee following the last one out
- >She stands at the door
- >You scan the area, spotting Applebloom and the rest of the CMC standing near the swing-set
- "Alright, they haven't seen us yet." You, standing behind a tree, take Spike off your shoulder and set him on the ground
- >"W-w-What am I supposed to do?"
- "Just go up to her and ask her to be your special somep0ny."
- >"In front of Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle?"
- "No, no. Just say it's private."
- >"Okay, then what?"
- "Tell her how you feel. Tell her you like her. Just let your heart do the talking."
- >"Anon, are you sure about this?"
- "Don't worry, man. Remember, the only negative is if she says no. And I doubt that's happening."
- >This seems to bolster Spike's courage
- >He takes a few deep breaths
- >"Alright..-gulp-...I'm ready."
- "Okay. You're on your own from here on out, but don't forget what I told you. I'll be at Sugarcube Corner, alright? Come by when you're done so you can give me the good news."
- >You smile and Spike returns the gesture
- >Spike walks out from behind the tree and heads to the swing-set
- "Go get 'em, tiger."
- >You're sitting at Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie Pie filling you in on every little detail of her day while you both sip from a carrot smoothie; your treat
- >You can't help but be entertained when Pinkie tells a story
- >Her infatuations with even the smallest things makes everything seem interesting
- >You sometimes wish you could have her outlook on life
- >She's just finishing her tale of how Pumpkin Cake had another magic surge today, zipping Pinkie's mouth shut when she tried to lecture her on why not to chew on things
- >Pinkie, being Pinkie, just unzipped her mouth and continued the lecture
- >It got Pumpkin to fall asleep, at least
- >You hear the bell from the swinging doors
- >Spike walks in and sits next to you
- "Hey, bro! How'd it go?"
- >He looks up to you with a blank look; it's as if he's in disbelief
- >You swear you can see the edges of his mouth perk up slightly
- >Spike then jumps on the table
- "SHE SAID YES, SHE SAID YES, SHE SAID YES!!!"
- >You jump up from your seat
- >You're positively fucking ecstatic
- >You can't help but jump for joy as Spike does the same on the table
- >Pinkie joins in
- >"What are we so happy about?" She says, jumping in time with you on her hind hooves, her front hooves in the air
- >You stop and hold her hooves, looking her dead in the eye with the biggest smile you can muster
- "Spike just got himself a special somep0ny!"
- >Pinkie gasps
- >"OmigoshwehavetothrowapartyforthisI'msoexcitedareyouexcitedifnotIamforbothofuswho'stheluckymareSpikehu-"
- >You silence her with a kiss
- >She melts into your embrace and jumps into your arms, still kissing you
- >As soon as she jumps in your arms, the image of a dark landscape invades your mind
- >Pinkie disappearing in the shadow
- >You break the kiss
- >"Anon?...You okay?" Pinkie asks
- >You shake your head, getting rid of the image. You're not going to let this damper your mood. You're way too happy
- "I'm better than okay." You smile
- >"Great, because now we need to party!"
- "How about we hold off on the party for a while, Pinkie? Let's just relax at my place tonight."
- >"Okie Dokie Lokie!"
- >You walk Spike to the library as Pinkie heads to your house
- >You're two thirds of the way there when Spike speaks up
- >"Hey, Anon?"
- "Yeah?"
- >"Thanks...for everything. You-...you're my best friend, you know that?"
- >This warms your heart
- >You pick up the dragon in a hug
- "No problem, little bro."
- >You reach the library
- >You then kneel down, Spike relinquishing his spot on your shoulder
- >You both say your goodnights, then depart with a brofist
- >You have a spring in your step on the way to your home
- >When you arrive, you notice Pinkie fast asleep on the couch
- >You close the door behind you quietly and lock it. Then you carefully pick up the pink mare and carry her upstairs
- >You place her on the opposite side of the bed, get undressed, and get under the blankets
- >Holding Pinkie Pie, she nudges closer to you
- >You reflect on the day's events before drifting off into a peaceful sleep; the nightmare from the night before being the last thing on your mind...
