  2. >Cyrus gives off no feedback from the huge amps
  3. >The mic is placed in the perfect position
  4. >Rainbow is prepped on the drums and Twilight's horn glows. Certain keys on Geddy are surrounded by a purple aura
  5. >You take a deep breath and exhale before beginning the note sequence on Cyrus
  6. >Rainbow hits a note on her xylophone to correspond with your notes and continues on while Twilight plays a low bassline
  7. >You break into chords while laying out the lyrics
  8.
  9. "And the men who hold high places
  10. must be the ones who start
  11. To mold a new reality
  12. Closer to the heart
  13. Closer to the heart"
  14. >Rainbow begins laying out a beat while Twilight provides a bass guitar tone from Geddy
  15.
  16. "The blacksmith and the artist
  17. Reflect it in their art
  18. They forge their creativity
  19. Closer to the heart
  20. Yes, Closer to the heart"
  21.
  22. >Rainbow quickly uses a wing to grab a mallet and bang on the organ bells next to her while Twilight plays synth
  23. >You quickly turn up Cyrus' tone all the way as to provide the loud sound you enjoy and slam out some chords
  24.
  25. "Philosophers and ploughmen
  26. Each must know his part
  27. To sow a new mentality
  28. Closer to the heart
  29. Yes, Closer to the heart! Yeah!"
  30.
  31. >Rainbow moves to cut-time while Twilight speeds up the bass
  32. >You quickly strum out a mad solo alongside Dash and Twilight
  33. >Rainbow is pounding out awesome measure transitions and Twilight keeps the bassline fresh
  34. >After some improvisation you strum out the note sequence from the beginning of the song. Twilight and Rainbow soon accompany you
  35.
  36. "Whoah oh! You can be the captain
  37. And I will draw the chart
  38. Sailing into destiny
  39. Closer to the heart
  40. Closer to the heart
  41. Well, Closer to the heart, yeah!"
  42.
  43. >You keep on singing the last few words while slamming chords from Cyrus
  44. >Rainbow is letting loose on the drum kit
  45. >Twilight continues on the bassline, improvising note sequences and making the bass ring out
  46. >After the verse finally ends you three slam out a big band finish
  47. >The crowd goes wild
  48. >The cheers don't stop at all
  49. >You put Cyrus on his stand next to you and decide to jump off the stage and surf over the crowd
  50. >You take a running start before diving into the crowd, turning in mid-air as to land on your back
  51.
  52. >Your face meets the floor as you roll out of bed
  53. "Ow..."
  54. >You stay there for a few seconds before sighing and picking yourself up
  55. >Not the first time you've done that
  56. >You really should learn how to control your dreams
  57. >Or at least learn how to tell when you're dreaming
  58. >That damn crowdsurfing dream gets you every time
  59. "Now's a good a time as any to get the day started, I suppose."
  60. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpRaX6VkRKk
  61. >You take about twelve seconds to yawn, scratch and stretch
  62. >You then smack your cheeks a couple times to wake up
  63. "Time to start the day!"
  64. >First thing's first. You get undressed and jump in the shower
  65. >You clean yourself thoroughly, like every morning, and throw on the cold water to rinse off
  66. >After exiting the shower you dry off and throw a robe on before brushing your teeth
  67. >You rinse with some mouthwash and rinse again with water before exiting the bathroom
  68. >You grab some clothes out of the drawer Rufus and Marcello chill next to, checking yourself in the mirror
  69. >You grab a hair-tie and flip your long hair back, tying it into a p0nytail
  70. >Then you throw on a pair of jeans and a blue t-shirt
  71. "Alright...ready and able."
  72. >You walk downstairs and prepare a quick breakfast of bacon substitute, eggs, hashbrowns and toast with a glass of milk
  73. >Alright, maybe not so quick
  74. >The hearty breakfast is soon complete and you sit down at the table to dig in
  75. >Suddenly there's a knocking on your door
  76. >You put down your fork and get up to answer it
  77. >Opening the door you're greeted by a smiling purple p0ny sporting a saddlebag
  78. >"Morning, Anon!"
  79. "Well, you're here pretty early. I was just about to get some food in my gut. Join me?"
  80. >"Oh no thank you. I already had some breakfast."
  81. "Alright then. Come on in."
  82. >You step to the side to let her in and close the door behind you
  83. >You walk to the kitchen and take your seat in front of your plate
  84. >Twilight sits next to you
  85. >"So Anon, I've been studying musical theory and the different chords on a piano."
  86. >You're chewing a mouthful of bacon (substitute) and hashbrowns
  87. >You reply with a nod
  88. >"I've also learned the different scales and play styles. I'm ready to incorporate them when you're ready."
  89. >You swallow your food and follow it up with a long draught from your cup of milk
  90. "Sounds great, Twi. Just lemme finish up here and we can get started."
  91. >She clops her front hooves together in excitement
  92. >You quickly finish up your meal and clean up before going upstairs with Twilight
  93. >Entering your room you let Twilight in before closing the door behind her as to keep the sound within the room
  94. >Twilight levitates her saddlebag off her and onto the bed
  95. >You grab Geddy and scoot him close to the bed
  96. >Twilight sits behind Geddy and places her front hooves on the spot below the keys, preparing to play
  97. "Whenever you're ready. Take your time if need be."
  98. >She seems to ponder what to play for a moment or two before she places her hooves on the keys
  99. >It looks like she's trying to play chords with both hooves, but unfortunately she can only get two keys down seeing as she has hooves
  100. >She continues this fruitless venture for a few moments before she begins frantically hitting keys in an attempt to get something, anything out there
  101. >It almost looks like she's tearing up
  102. >Actually, she -is- tearing up
  103. >You take a seat next to her and wrap an arm around her neck
  104. "Chill out for a sec, dear. What's got your coat all ruffled?"
  105. >She leans her head on your side
  106. >"I'm sorry, Anon...I'm just not as good as I thought I would be. I read all those books on music theory and learned every scale, only to fizzle out when actually -applying- what I learned. I..I guess reading a book can't solve everything."
  107. "Now hold up there, this can't be the Twilight I know. That mare wouldn't give up at the first sign of defeat."
  108. >A familiar image invades your mind as you look to Twilight as she sits behind Geddy
  109. >Her horn glowing and keys being pressed down
  110. >Inspiration...
  111. "Twilight you've found a way around obstacles before, haven't you?"
  112. >"Well yes, by learning everything I could about the subject through books and applying what I learned..."
  113. "Doing so has helped. That much you can't deny, right?"
  114. >She picks her head up and wipes her eyes with a hoof
  115. >"Yes."
  116. "Even landed you in fifth place at the Running of the Leaves a couple years back. You even beat Rainbow Dash and Applejack if I recall correctly."
  117. >"But they were locked in their silly competition."
  118. "Regardless, your smarts still power through in the end. Am I incorrect to say so?"
  119. >"...No"
  120. "Great! Then let's try again."
  121. >"Anon...the only p0ny pianists -were- the only p0ny pianists for a reason, y'know. They could move their hooves so fast they were able to play a piano like it was nothing!"
  122. "Then that just means we're going to have to incorporate something else."
  123. >"What do you mean?"
  124. "Twi, I'm talking about your magic."
  125. >Her eyes widen before a big smile graces her face
  126. >"Why didn't I think of it before!"
  127. "I was wonder the same thing."
  128. >She quickly levitates a book out of her bag and flips through it, stopping on a certain page
  129. >After scanning it quickly she levitates the book back to the bag and places her hooves on the keys
  130. >Her horn glows and certain keys on Geddy are surrounded by the purple aura
  131. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB-ewGHVTIE
  132. >She presses a few keys down with her magic and hooves to get a feel for the keyboard
  133. >Then it's silent for a few seconds before she begins to improvise
  134. >It's...beautiful to say the least
  135. >She knows how to trill the keys
  136. >Some of the buttons on the keyboard are surrounded by the purple aura as a stringed instrument sound accompanies the piano
  137. >She even learned how to use Geddy's different functions
  138. >How she did so is unknown to you
  139. >Oh well. It doesn't matter. She can -play-
  140. >The tone of her piece seems somber, but she changes keys to bring out a happy tone at certain parts
  141. >She transitions into everything smoothly until playing a final upward scale of notes
  142. >Once she finishes she squees with delight
  143. "Twilight, that was amazing. It looks like there's a new p0ny pianist in the world, huh?"
  144. >She looks up at you and smiles
  145. >"Thanks for believing in me, Anon. I probably would've just given up but you kept me going."
  146. >You nod and open your mouth to ask a question but Twilight cuts you off
  147. >"And yes. I would love to join your band."
  148. "Great!"
  149. >Suddenly there's a knock on your window
  150. >You stand up and turn around to see Rainbow Dash hovering outside, beckoning you to open it
  151. >You walk around the bed, unlock the window and pull it open
  152. >Dash flies in and lands in front of Twilight
  153. >"Hey you guys. Twilight already show you what she can do, Anon?"
  154. "She sure did. -And- she's part of the band now."
  155. >"Alright! This is gonna be great!"
  156. "You know it!"
  157. >Twilight cuts in
  158. >"I feel like we're missing something, though. We need more than just drums a keyboard and guitar, don't we?"
  159. "Well...a bassist would suit us nicely."
  160. >"Where are we gonna find someone to play bass?"
  161. >"I'm not sure...I could check the paper for anything"
  162. "Better yet, let's get an ad in the paper!"
  163. >Rainbow gives you a confused look
  164. >"The paper?"
  165. "Yeah, tons of p0nies read the paper. I'm sure we'll get responses for a bassist in no time!"
  166. >Rainbow seems reserved about the idea
  167. >Twilight speaks up
  168. >"It's the best idea we have right now."
  169. "That's two out of three votes. Dash?"
  170. >"Yeah okay. Let's do it."
  171. >"I'll go check the prices on ads, Anon. "
  172. "Cool. Thanks Twi."
  173. >Twilight's horn glows and she teleports right out of your house
  174. >You look outside the window to see her walking away
  175. >You push Geddy back to his spot next to the wall and flop on your bed, Rainbow joining you shortly after
  176. >"So what now?"
  177. "I guess we wait..."
  178. >"Yep..."
  179. >It's silent for a few minutes
  180. "So what's up?"
  181. >This sparked a conversation that lasted almost the entire day...
