>You are out picking berries with Fluttershy. >Fluttershy said her baker friend needed a resupply of berries for some frosting and pastry filling. She was willing to pay 10 bits and a pastry of your choice. "Sounds like a sweet deal." >Fluttershy giggles at your poor attempt at a joke. >She must really like puns or something because that was horrible. You were never a fan of puns. >You are generally not a funny person. You're pretty sure most of the time Fluttershy just gives you a courtesy laugh at the attempt to see her smile. >You are just happy to be outside this glorious afternoon. >It had been two days and your boots were still wet. Not soaked like they were before, but even being a little damp was annoying. And you are just too lazy to put up with it. >Besides, being barefoot just prompts you to where shorts. Something you haven't done since your picnic with Fluttershy almost a week ago. >And good thing too, it was pretty hot out. -- >Fluttershy has taken you to Whitetail Woods to pick from the many berry bushes scattered around. >It's a beautiful forest. The trees are large with broad leaves on their branches. >The canopy extends over the path you are walking, blocking out most of the sunlight. >It casts a deep shadow and keeps you both cool as you work. >Fluttershy tells you that Ponyville hosts an annual race here every autumn. "The Running of the Leaves" it's called. >The purpose of the race is for the stampeding ponies to shake the leaves off the trees through the thundering of their hooves. >Another sight you would love to see. >You begin to imagine running among the other ponies. >The shower of the broad, colorful leaves in the cool autumn air. -- >Fluttershy notices you spacing out. >You are staring up at the canopy. Your eyes are not moving or blinking. There is a large smile on your face. >Fluttershy walks up and begins poking you in your belly. Right in your ticklish spot. >You snap right out of your trance. >You drop the berry basket and begin to playfully chase Fluttershy through the berry patch. >You finally catch her and wrap her in a big old bear hug. >She giggles ever-so-sweetly as you nuzzle your nose to hers. >Another beautiful moment for the memory bank. >You lost a few berries after dropping the basket to chase Fluttershy. >She said you had more than enough for her friend anyways. >All that was left was to deliver them to Ponyville. >You wanted to avoid Ponyville if given the chance. >Even on the walk to Whitetail Woods from Fluttershy's cottage, you had to go past Ponyville first. >You managed to convince Fluttershy to take the road around it instead. >It seems now theres no avoiding it. -- >The walk back to town was largely uneventful. >You had gotten the bright idea to duck into some bushes lining the road. >Fluttershy had gotten wind that you had disappeared. This prompted a hasty search for you. >When she got close enough, you jumped out at her with a mighty roar. >You tackled her and rolled end-over-end, but you managed to land with Fluttershy on her back. >You reared up on your knees. >Your hands conforming into a claw shape and raised high above your head. >An evil smirk crossed your face. >Fluttershy screamed as you brought your hands down into tummy. >Her screams were quickly turned into cries of uncontrollable laughter. >Your dextrous fingers tickling her belly with the ferocity of a lion taking down its prey. >She squirmed and kicked to try to get away, but you held her down effortlessly. >This was just a little payback for earlier. -- >Unfortunately, what you and Fluttershy failed to notice in the excitement was a little filly bounding up the road. >She was enjoying the smell of the roadside flowers when she noticed Fluttershy searching for something. >She was about to ask what she was looking for when a large monster jumped from a bush and attacked Fluttershy. >The little filly and Fluttershy shrieked in unison. >The filly turned away as the monster brought its menacing claws down into Fluttershy's stomach. >The little filly ran as fast as she could all the way back to Ponyville. >She was too horrified to look back at the gruesome scene behind her. -- "Uh oh." >You look up to see a crying filly running away in terror. "Maybe I took that a little too far?" >You got off Fluttershy and held out your hand to help her up. >She takes it with her hoof and stands. >"It'll be okay. We were only playing. Maybe she was just frightened because she never saw you before." >She walks over to the berry basket and takes it in her mouth with a smile. >She sure is confident. She knows the ponyfolk of Ponyville much more than you do so you can only trust her. >You smile and nod you head in understanding. >It would make sense as you have only visited Ponyville once and rarely strayed too close to the town. >You continue your walk in silence. >The ponies didn't give you a very warm welcome the last time you came into town. >Hopefully with Fluttershy with you, they will warm up to you and see you aren't so bad. -- "Well so much for that..." >"Hm?" "Nevermind..." >The streets of Ponyville were absolutely barren. >Ponyville had turned into a ghost town. >Apparently that little filly was very good at convincing everypony that a rampaging monster was on it's way into Ponyville. >Fluttershy led you through town with confidence. >The market stalls were abandoned. >Window shutters slammed ominously in the wind. >As you walked, you could see the shadows of ponies staring at you from the blacked out buildings. >It didn't seem to phase Fluttershy in the least. >"Don't let it bother you," she whispered back at you. >"They have done this before when Zecora first came to town." >You were tempted to ask who and what Zecora is, but you left it alone. >She was obviously a mistreated outcast at one time like you are now. >But this begs the question: Where is she now? -- >"Here we are." "And where are we?" >"Sugarcube Corner." "Of course." >The building in front of you seemed to almost challenge your imagination. >The walls and roof looked to be made out of gingerbread. >White frosting lined the rooftop and various over-sized candies decorated the building as well. >The entire place looked edible. >You had to fight away the temptation to run up and take a large bite out of the side of the building. >Fluttershy entered the building ahead of you. >The door opened and a bell jingled to signal the staff of a customer. >A pink pony was standing behind the counter. >Her mane and tail looked like cotton candy. >Again, the urge to take a bite had to be surpressed. >She wore the most welcoming smile you have seen in a while. -- >The pink pony perked up upon seeing her friend enter the bakery. >"Hey there Fluttershy! You here to drop of those berries I-" >Suddenly she was cut off at the sight of your immense size stepping through the door. >She looked up at you, eyes wide open and mouth agape. >She let out a long gasp and ducked behind the counter. >You frowned and let out a heavy sigh. >'Here we go aga-' >Your thought was cut off as the pink pony reappeared above the counter. >A large cannon was pointed straight at you. >"PARTY!!!" yelled the pony as she fired the cannon. >*BOOM!!!* "Jesus Christ!" >Confetti, streamers, and cake were now flying 200 mph straight for your chest. >You managed to dive to the right and roll out of the way of the blast. >The pony behind you did not see it coming. -- >That poor pony had just taken the full brunt of the high velocity party favors straight to the face. >The force of the blast was enough to knock her back out through the doors and across the street. >"Oopsie daisy!" the pink pony exclaimed with a smile. "What the hell was that!" >You were extremely agitated and shocked that one of these ponies would actually make an attempt on your life. "Are you crazy!" >"Fooor partiiies!" sang the pink pony. >She suddenly got right in your face and started speaking almost incomprehenisbly fast. >"My name's Pinkie Pie and you're new in town you know how I know because I know everypony in ponyville and I haven't seen you before so you must be new and thats why when you walked in I went *GASP* and got the most absolute fantastic idea to throw you a "Welcome to Ponyville" party so you can meet all kinds of new friends!" >Good God... Did she really just spit that all out in a single breath? >Her hyperactivity is beginning to make you think that the only thing she must eat are the sweets here at the bakery. Perhaps she should lay off the sugar for a while. >She continues to ramble, but you do your best to tune her out. She's in your brain and you can't ignore it. >Eventually her attention snaps back to Fluttershy and the basket full of berries. -- >Thank you Fluttershy. >You didn't know how much more of Pinkie's inane chatter you could take. >Fluttershy seemed to be holding a solid conversation with Pinkie. She no doubt knows how to communicate with her friend to be able to even understand her. >Without Pinkie right in your face, you're able to push her completely out of your mind. >Your eyes drift over to the cannon on the counter, over to the door, and finally to the pony across the street. >Her face was completely covered with cake and frosting. >Confetti dotted her face and a few streamers hung off as well. >She looked like she was finally starting to recover. >You were relieved to see that she was alright. >You stood up and started towards her to help her up to her hooves. >She gets up by herself and shakes off the cake and decorations. >You stop in your tracks and you meet each other in a cold stare. >That's the rainbow pony from the other day! >You continue stepping towards her. You have a few questions you want to ask her. >She dashes off to the right, out of sight from you. "Hey!" >You quickly run outside to see where she had gone. >The door to Sugarcube Corner slams shut behind you. You hear the bolt lock as well. -- >You turn around and see the door encompassed in a sparkling, purple aura. >To the right of the building is a large mob of some very angry looking ponies. >The mob is being led by a purple unicorn whose horn was also glowing with the same aura as the door. >You turn back around to see the rainbow pegasus standing side-by-side with an orange earth pony. >The earth pony was wearing a cowboy hat and had her blonde mane and tail done up in ponytails. She was twirling a lasso in her mouth. >The unicorn was the first to speak. >"Surrender now and we won't harm you!" >Surrender? Surrender for what? What have you possibly done for these ponies to want your blood? >The cowpony spoke next. >"And don't ya'll try any funny business! We done got ya'll surrounded!" >This was true. You had a mob of ponies on one side, the pegasus and cowpony on another, and the door to Sugarcube corner being held shut by the unicorn. >The unicorn took notice of you looking around, analyzing the situation. >"There is no escape! Just lie down and give yourself up!" >You never said a word. >You looked back at the bakery. >You can see Pinkie Pie staring out into the street. She was in complete shock at how quickly this standoff is escalating. As hyper as she is, at least she knows when something is seriously wrong. >Fluttershy was pounding at the door with all her might. The magic barrier apparently too strong for her to break through. >She eventually gives in and stares at you through the window in the door with tear-filled eyes. -- >You both knew what was about to happen. >It was all to obvious to not see it coming. >But what did you even do? >You just cannot understand what went wrong here. >How can their hate for you just fire up so quickly like this? >Are they really this aggressive towards all strangers, or are they just this afraid of never seeing a creature like you before? >"Time's up!" >You spin around to see the pegasus flying full force straight at you. >Reacting quickly, you grab her forelegs, roll back, and kick your legs into her chest. >Using her own momentum against her, you sent her crashing into the unicorn and the crowd of ponies, dispersing most of them. >The cowpony throws her lasso at you but you roll clear and and stand. >You manage to steal one last look at Fluttershy. >This decision has already been made for you. >Before the cowpony could wind up for another toss, you made a sprint straight for her. >You didn't want this. >All you wanted was to start a peaceful new life here, but that dream was now shattered. >The earth pony did not expect a charge and she recoiled a bit. >You vaulted over the earth pony and sprinted as fast as you could out of town. >Tears were pouring from your eyes. -- >So it has all come down to this, hasn't it? >You have been run out of town by a mob of angry ponies. >You don't know why. >You have only been to Ponyville once before to visit Rarity, but you never did anything to antagonize or threaten the locals. >Maybe you should go back and confornt the crowd again. Try to figure this all out. >Your mind goes back to Fluttershy. >'Oh my God... I just abandoned her!' >That thought just killed you. >Where are you going to go now? >What are you going to do? >These questions will have to wait. >There is a more urgent matter to attend to now. -- >It seems the majority of the mob stayed behind. They were satisfied just to see you gone. >The three ponies from before however, have recovered and were now giving chase. >You had the strides, but they had four legs. >You don't know exactly the science that factors into the speed of an animal, but your pretty sure they will have a slight advantage over you. >Today turned out to be a great day to go barefoot and shorts. There was nothing to hinder you and slow you down. >You put a good distance between you and the pursuiting ponies pretty quickly. >They must have been surprised at your quick reactions and your speed. >Whatever the case, they were now in full sprint behind you, and gaining. >The unicorn seems kind of slow, but she begins to start firing blasts of lightning towards you. >It doesn't seem she can run and aim very well as the blasts are hitting nearby trees instead. >It must be a stun spell as she was trying to get you to submit and real lightning would've set the trees ablaze. >The pegasus is nowhere in sight, but the earth pony is catching fast, lasso twirling in her mouth. >You consider going back to Fluttershy's cottage, but who knows what kind of wrath you have brought her for taking you in. >Your mind is clouded in thought of the consequences that await you and Fluttershy because of all this. -- >The rainbow pegasus falls out from behind some clouds and dives on you. >She hits you in the back and sends you flying forward. >You seem to be in luck as the earth pony had gotten you in range to throw her lasso. >The pegasus had actually knocked you out of the way and put herself in the path of the lasso. >She was caught and slammed into the ground as you rolled head over heels. >This situation would be alot worse if these ponies were actually coordinating with each other. >"Dag nabbit Rainbow!" the earth pony shouted. >Rainbow Dash flopped on the ground, flapping her wings in a desperate attempt to get free. >"I had him Applejack! That was all your fault!" >Not only uncoordinated, but their arguement is proving an ample distraction to recover and get back to your feet. >Applejack stopped to untangle Rainbow Dash. >The unicorn ran past the bickering ponies with Applejack calling out to her, >"You go get 'em Twilight! I'll help out RD here and we'll catch up!" >That tumble you took gave Twilight an ample amount of time to get close enough to stop for a shot. >Her horn glowed and another blast shot out. >She hit you in the back as you turned to run. -- >"What the-?" >Twilight's spelled had fizzled when it hit you. >You felt it hit you, but it only felt like a tiny vibration in the base of your spine. >You didn't feel any different and continued running. >"Well if that's how it is..." >She charged another, more powerful shot this time. >She fired and again, hit you square in the back. >You felt it again, but this time it felt like a static shock. >Twilight stood there, mouth agape. >That was the most powerful stun spell she knew. Not even a young adult dragon, with their high magic resistance, could stand up to that. >But you managed to ignore it as a tiny shock. >You didn't look back. >The road was starting to lead into a dark forest. If there was any place to escape, this looks to be your best option right now. >The ponies had stopped giving chase a long time ago, but you kept running. >You ran deep into the forest until you physically could not run anymore. >Your vision began to blur and your muscles ached. >Exhaustion finally took over as you collapsed, forsaken and alone.
