>You were having one of those lousy days >Same boring job >Same boring lunch >Same boring walk home >One of those days when not even the gleeful bouncing of Pinkie Pie can remedy it >She hops right in front of you and brings you to a halt >"What's'a matter, Nonny?" "Nothing really." >You begin to start walking forward again as she begins bouncing backwards in front of you >"Then whyyyyy aren't you smiling?" >Ugh, go away Pinkie >You know she was trying to help, but you really just want to be left alone today >"C'mon, Nonny! Just tell your auntie Pinkie Pie whatever's on your mind!" >Fine "I don't know, Pinkie. I feel like I've been stuck in the same routine forever. Nothing interesting happens anymore." >Pinkie knits her brow in thought, then quickly lights up >"Ooh! Come with me!" >She gets behind you and starts pushing you towards her house "No, Pinkie, I'm tired." >"Don't care!" >She continues to force you towards Sugarcube Corner "Pinkie." >"Shut up, Anon. You're coming to my house." >Fine >You stop struggling and let her lead you to her house >The bell on the door rings as you enter Sugarcube Corner >"Hi Mrs. Cake! We're gonna go hang out upstairs." >Mrs. Cake continues to rearrange the baked goods on display >"Oh, okay. Have fun!" >Pinkie leads you past the rainbow of pastries behind the counter up the stairs towards her room >You've been in Pinkie's room before, but you're never any less amazed at the amount of colorful party equipment she has >You take a seat on the red bean bag chair that you always use >"No! C'm'ere!" >She moves some stuffed animals out of the way and opens her closet door >At least you think it's her closet >You've never really been in there before >You hesitantly get up and head in >You enter the dark room >Pinkie flicks on a single lightbulb hanging from the ceiling >It illuminates a dull gray room filled with cardboard, old pillows and other junk >What the hell are you getting yourself into >"So what do you wanna do?" >Pinkie sits on a raggedy looking pillow and lightly kicks a tennis ball at your feet >The room is definitely bigger than your average closet, but it still isn't all that big >It's dim and lifeless, almost abandoned looking >You slowly pace to the other end of the room in curiosity, examining everything around you "What is this place, Pinkie?" >"It's my play room! Now what do you wanna do?" >Has she completely lost it this time? "I... kind of want to go home." >"Come on, Nonny. If you could do anything right now - anything at all - what would it be?" "Win the lottery." >Pinkie rolls her eyes and grabs an open cardboard box >"You mean you wouldn't want to explore outer space?" >Pinkie pushes the box down on her head, managing to somehow compress her poofy hair >Now you see where she's going with all this "Pinkie." >You hear her muffled voice from inside the box >"We could have an outer space snowball fight!" >She blindly shuffles around on her hands and knees, finding tennis balls and other small projectiles and hurling them in your direction "Pinkie! Quit it!" >She stands up and pulls the box off her head revealing a playful smile and messy hair >"Fine! We don't have to go into space. It's not like we have enough time anyway." >She bends down and starts searching through a pile of cardboard >You decide to humor her "And why don't we have enough t-" >"They're coming Anon. We have to start training." >She pulls from the pile two three-foot cardboard tubes, probably from rolls of wrapping paper >"Which sword is yours again?" >You smirk "The one with my name on it. Duh" >Pinkie giggles >"Oh yeah. Here." >She tosses over your sword, with its blade heading right toward your stomach >You quickly shift away and manage to catch it by the handle "Woah, watch it with the blade, Pinkie." >She winks >"Just trying to keep you on your toes. Now... THINK FAST." >She makes a quick lunge towards you with her blade >You instinctively block the lunge with your own blade and force hers to the side >You bring your back foot forward, swing your blade up, and hold it just beneath her chin >She drops her sword and looks up at you, impressed >"You've been practicing, haven't you?" >You smirk "Always, Pinkie." >"Good. Now let's go suit up." >The two of you head back into the cabin and lean your swords on the wall just inside the door "How long do you think we have?" >"Who knows?" >Pinkie throws you your armor >"Recon couldn't come up with anything, so we're on our own." >The two of you take off your clothes and put on the hard leather armor >"Not worried, though. We're pretty much unstoppable." "True." >"Now come get some food in you before we head out." >She scoops you a generous serving of stew from the pot above the firepalce as the two of you sit down to eat >After a hot meal, you shoulder your swords and head outside >The air is brisk and still as you approach the cliffside in front of the cabin >The two of you take a minute to look upon the beautiful vista before you, a gentle cerulean stream flowing beside the edge of lush forest, all on display beneath an impossibly clear blue sky >You'd be hard pressed to imagine anything more beautiful >It's too bad you and Pinkie are going to have to use it as a canvas on which to paint your sorry enemies' blood >"Ready Nonny?" "I was born ready." >The two of you set out on an hours long trek along the forest's edge >But songs and stories from home made it feel like seconds, and just as dark clouds begin to shroud the horizon, you hear voices from afar "Wait... Pinkie. Do you hear that?" >"What is it?" "Voices." >Pinkie's face immediately sobers >"It must be them." "You're not scared, are you?" >"Hah! No. Of course not. Just... how many are there do you think?" "A lot. Hundreds, maybe." >Pinkie's eyes fall to the ground >"Hold on... Anon, where exactly are we?" >You pull out the map and point out your location >"Perfect. The Storm lives not too far from here." >Pinkie points out an 'X' on the map labelled "The Storm" >You could have sworn that wasn't there a minute ago "Who's The Storm?" >"She can help us. She owes me a favor." >You shrug and nod in compliance >"Anon, you have to stay here and keep track of them. If you stay quiet, you'll be safe." "I trust you, Pinkie. Just hurry." >"I will, Anon. I will." >Pinkie scurries away with an out of place smile and quickly leaves your sight >Almost as if she disappeared from existence in a flash of light >Eerie clouds completely paint the sky at this point >All you can hear are distant battle cries and faint rumbling thunder >And just like that, you're alone with your thoughts >You sit against a tree for a while and try to stay calm >Maybe it's the fatigue, or maybe it's terror, but everything started changing once Pinkie left >The gray skies begin to encapsulate your surroundings and seem to close in around you >The shapes and colors of the trees begin to fade >Why does the sun look like... a lightbulb? >WHAT WAS THAT? >WHO'S THERE? >All the details suddenly rush back >"Nonny! Thank goodness we found you. It looks like they're coming in hot." >Whew >Good thing she's back >You were starting to lose your mind >With Pinkie stands a vaguely familiar looking warrior >Her muscles glisten in the dim light that breaks through the clouds >Her ornate armor and rainbow hair demand your immediate attention >You very slightly recoil as she approaches you >"'Sup kid? You ready for the fight of your life?" >She gives your shoulder a friendly jab >Her confidence is contagious "You know it." >"Good. So I'm gonna take 'em head on, and you and Ponk are gonna flank 'em from the back. It'll work, believe me. You in?" >You and Pinkie nod >"Well then what are we waiting for? CHARGE!" >It's time >The three of you scramble from tree to tree, making sure to stay hidden from the enemy >As you approach the enemy lines, you find yourself behind the same tree as The Storm "Hey... so why do they call you The Storm?" >She snickers >"You're about to find out." >With that, she runs out from the cover of the forest directly in front of the enemy troops >"WHO'S READY TO DIE?" >As much as you want to watch her kick some butt, you know you have to keep moving with Pinkie >After a few more minutes, the two of you approach the oblivious troops from behind >The robot samurai army never stood a chance >Back to back, you and Pinkie begin flawlessly exterminating them one by one with your master swordsmanship >Taste steel, imported machinery scum "PINKIE!" >"WHAT NONNY?" "THIS IS AWESOME." >"I KNOW." >It was a long, intense battle >The robot samurai wizard cavalry from the future put up a strong fight >But in the end, they were no match for three greatest warriors on the planet >You all take a seat on the mangled bodies of your enemies to reflect on the fight "Well... we did it." >The Storm tosses her sword onto the ground >"We sure did. You guys hungry?" >Pinkie nods forcefully >"Mmhmm. Wanna make pancakes?" >"Yeah, let's go." >Pancakes? >Pinkie and The Storm get up and brush themselves off >The Storm opens the door to Pinkie's room and hurries away >Pinkie turns back to you >"Coming, Nonny?" >You look down at the cardboard tube in your hand "Uh... yeah." >You drop the tube and stand up, disoriented "That was... actually a lot of fun, Pinkie." >"Well duh. Everything can be fun, Nonny. You just have to make it fun." >You take a quick second to digest that "Hey, one more thing. Why exactly did you go get Rainbow Dash?" >"She likes the fight scenes." >Rainbow dash pokes her head into the doorway >"I like the fight scenes." >She once again hurries away >"Now come on, Nonny! It's pancake time!" End.
