>Way to step out of your comfort zone there Anon. >Let’s face it, you were too much of a recluse to simply go up to a mare and ask her out on a date. >The very thought of it almost made you hyperventilate. >But now- >”Trixie did not expect that the one taking her out would be such a good listener, it is a most pleasant surprise.” >Yeah you’re good at listening alright, wouldn’t want her to know you were simply terrified of screwing this date up with your horrible attempts at making conversation. >”Most stallions just want to prattle on and on about how their friends got hooficures, but not you.” >So how did you wind up on a date with Trixie? It’s actually a very boring story deep-fried in loneliness and a little shame. >It all started a week ago. >After a nice day of tending to the garden where you grew most of your food you found yourself rifling through the newspaper out of boredom. >Your modest home was quiet, which was to be expected as you lived alone. >That little pang of loneliness hit you as it always did. >Humans were social creatures, they weren’t meant to be alone, and while the ponies which resided in the town were always friendly in their own way, you wanted something more. >You wanted someone to come home to, someone that would greet you with a smile on their face when you walked through the front door. >Someone who would care about you just as much as you cared about them. >And you made yourself sad again. >Flipping the page your eyes were drawn to a section marked “Personals.” >Sure you were desperate, but were you that desperate? >Almost as if on cue the voice in the back of your head snickered and made the off-hand comment that yes, yes you were. >What could it hurt? >Worst case scenario you would at least get out there. >That’s got to count for something. >Grabbing some paper and a pencil you began to write a response. >Which brings us to now. >”Trixie was wondering if you wanted to head back to her wagon so she could show you a special magic show.” >Wiggling her eyebrows suggestively she licked her lips. >Was she implying that you two- >Nevermind- go back to the flashback- back to the flashback! >Initially you only intended to write to the first personal you saw and call it a day. >That quickly turned into another, and then another. >Soon the table in front of you was chock-full letters, each addressed to the various ads which lined the page of the newspaper. >You’re were really going to go through this, weren’t you? >Settling your nerves as best as you could, you grabbed the stack of envelopes and made your way outside and over to the mailbox. >Hands shaking and heart pounding you placed them inside and raised the flag. >Breathing out slowly you felt a slightly calmer. >Now all you had to do was wait. >Finding yourself standing on your front porch with the performer you did your best to find the right words to end the night. >Trixie however beat you to the punch. >”While Trixie doesn’t want the night to end she hopes you had a good time.” “It was fun, thank you Trixie.” >The usually brash smile on her face was replaced with a more earnest one. >”Would you mind leaning down?” “Uh sure.” >Leaning down apprehensively you didn’t break eye contact with the blue mare. >Towards the end she must have gotten impatient because she gripped your shirt with her hooves and smashed her lips against yours. >Caught off guard you fell forward and atop her small frame. >Her soft lips remained firmly locked with yours. >Despite your shock you couldn’t help but close your eyes and deepen the kiss. >Trixie’s hooves moved from gripping your shirt to wrapping themselves around your neck. >Snaking your hands downward you gripped her flanks, the soft fur felt like heaven as it parted between your fingers. >The scent of strawberries completely fogged your senses. >This was going a bit further than you had expected for a first date. >With all the willpower you could muster you broke apart. >Daring to open your eyes you were met with a sight that made you rethink her previous proposition. >Trixie lay beneath you, her face flushed, eyes closed and panting softly. >You could feel her heart beating quickly against your chest as you both continued to lay there. >Neither of you made the attempt to be the first to move. >”That was-“ “Yeah.” >What just happened was beyond amazing. >Sitting up you picked Trixie up and set her on her hooves. >Biting her lip nervously Trixie refused to meet your gaze as she shuffled in place. >”Are you sure you don’t want to accompany Trixie back to her wagon?” >Dear god did you want, but… “You’re a special mare Trixie-“ >Visibly stiffening Trixie’s head drooped down. >She thought you were turning her down. “But I think we should try going out again.” >Whatever she was expecting you to say, that certainly wasn’t it. >”Does that mean?” >Smiling you pulled the cape wearing mare into a hug which she returned happily. “A second date is a good place to start.”
