"I shouldn't have come to Canterlot.
"After spending most of the day scurrying and navigating the ruins of the city, I had finally reached the castle's grounds. The whole of Canterlot was burning. Dragons roared and flew all around, raining fire down on whatever they saw as a threat, while hundreds, if not thousands, of Hounds and Diamond Dogs rushed across the streets and dug themselves in an out of danger. I saw more than a few gangs of them fighting with individual Dragons, but quickly left the battles before I could get caught up in them." "The warring factions were here for a small number of reasons. For the Dragons, it was clear they were seizing territory and treasure. The Dogs and Hounds were helping each other loot what the Dragons hadn't stolen already. The result was a horrible battle all across the remains of Canterlot. It made me feel sick to see so much violence, and I was more scared than I had ever been. But it was too late to turn back, now, I had finally reached Canterlot Castle, and I hoped and hoped that the Princesses, or anypony, would be taking shelter inside. "I started running around the grounds, looking for a safe way inside. Fire and collapsed towers were blocking the usual ways into the castle, and I didn't dare to fly in fear of being spotted by my worst nightmare. But in my rush to find a way indoors, I rounded a blind corner, and found myself in plain sight of a Dragon gathering up what he had stolen from the part of the castle that he had smashed his way through. "I was paralysed out of fear, and could only watch as the Dragon spotted me and craned his neck down look at me at my level. "'Do you dare trespass on Dragon territory?' He growled at me, smoke puffing out of his nostrils. "I squeaked and started to back away, which only angered the Dragon more. "The Dragon kept his eyes fixed on me, and got ready to attack. I suddenly spun around and galloped away. He roared and breathed fire after me, I barely escaped the flames as I turned down a random path. I heard the Dragon roar again and take the air, 'Trespassers will not be spared!' he bellowed. "I kept on galloping, trying to find a place to hide. The Dragon suddenly came back down from the orange-lit night sky, and landed in front of me to cut me off. With no time to stop and change direction, I ran towards him. He breathed fire again, and I took the sky, the heat singeing my hooves. I pumped my wings as hard as I could, making twists and turns I was not used to doing to dodge the Dragon. I narrowly missed his claws as he swatted at me, and made it past his neck. "Out of my peripherals, I caught a glimpse of the Dragon's tail, but couldn't react in time to dodge it. I was swatted out of the air, and thrown a great distance before crashing through a window. My body flared up in pain as the glass shards cut into me, and became even worse once I hit the floor, laying among the remains of the shattered window. "I cried out in pain as I forced myself onto my hooves, and limped over to my saddlebags nearby. The crash had knocked them off of me and scattered my supplies onto the large floor. "I hastily gathered my belongings together, and set to work on dealing with the worst of my cuts, pulling shards of glass out and washing the blood away with water from my canteen. I didn't have time to put bandages on, so I packed up my supplies and properly secured my saddlebags to my body, leaving the cuts to scab and heal in the open air. "As if to remind me to hurry, I heard the Dragon fly overhead as it searched for me, the intact windows rattling as if they were as afraid of the thing as I was. It was then I realised that I was inside Canterlot Tower, where the Elements of Harmony were stored. I started to run again, this time making my way for the end of the long hall. "I skidded to a stop when I saw that the door that protected the Elements was open, and the box, its contents, and a crown, were scattered all over the floor in front of me. "All six of the Elements lay strewn across the floor, and among them was the crown that belonged to Princess Celestia. "I was looking at the very last place the Princess was before she disappeared, like all the other ponies except me. She must have been trying to get the Elements to all of us, but... she was too late. "I began to approach the scene, about to pick up the Elements and Princess Celestia's crown, but just then, all of the windows in the hall shattered, and dozens of Dogs and Hounds came inside. But before I could react, the room that the Elements were once stored in came crashing inwards as the Dragon punched his way into the building. "On one side there were possibly a hundred Diamond Dogs, armed with spears and bows, and a few dozen Hounds with their sharp, monstrous set of claws . On the other side was the Dragon, barely fitting inside the massively hallway, looking at both me and the Dogs with hatred." "In the middle of it all, was me; a little pony who was on her own on this night in the Canterlot warzone." "I shouldn't have come to Canterlot." ~=~ This isn't a dupe, I've corrected some mistakes I made, and reapplied a layer I missed off accidentally. Enjoy! |
