Personally, I always thought fluffy ponies were too absurd to explain with real science. Some of the stories that attempt to do so can be interesting, but I'd never call them plausible. I prefer fluffy ponies that openly defy explanation as surreal, comical characters, and I felt the same way about yukkuri.

Then again, I also prefer nonsense to grimderp and suffering, so I rarely get my way when it comes to either of these things.
