Good...good, lure him into a false sense of security with a tea party...THEN SEND HIM TO THE MOON! He deserves it. (The Comic version of him anyway) |

@Spiritus_Arcane
He was in anything else to an extent to really get anything of his personalty different from the comic verson? |
| Spiritus_Arcane #1490861 6 days ago |
^
He made a couple of appearances in the SatAM Cartoon, but there he (unfortunately?) wasn't given a chance to become the fuckup-asshat the comic version is. Aside from sort of the same screwups they both share, of course(IE, practically letting Robotnik walk in and take over). |
| NightJack #1490932 6 days ago |
^ I know of that but it was too short to really get a basis for his personalty that is any difarent from what was in the comics at that point in time, so it's really not any different. |

Dude, just tell us what he did before we label you as overly butthurt. |
| Spiritus_Arcane #1490963 6 days ago |

Take way too long to give a complete list Takashi. There's a sonic wiki or just read a good chunk of everything from right after Endgame to somewhere in the 160s-170s, which is when they finally had the sense to stop giving him back control of everything... |
| NightJack #1490991 6 days ago |
Let's see, force servitude, lose of memory, replaced by a replace, hiding the existence of family for their safety.
Ya he was a real fuckup-asshat, having to make hard decisions and all that. |
| NightJack #1490994 6 days ago |
And that was just some of the bigger things. |
| Takashi_0 #1490995 6 days ago |
Overly butthurt, somehow I just knew it. |
| NightJack #1490996 6 days ago |
Having to do thing that are not good for the purpose of trying to help his people, I thing Cele can be blamed for the same thing. |

He just said he believes in butthurt. There's no reasoning with him. He's just here to stomp on people's faces to make himself feel better about having feelings (which is a thoughtcrime for some reason). |

...All right then. YOU asked for it... Let's start:
First of, the Source of all, just...the souce of all. Granted, this doesn't technically start with him, but it was apparently some sort of energy goop or whatever that each generation of the monarchy 'bonded' with so that it would give them visions on how to guide the kingdom to prosperity. ...If that's the case it guided it straight into the ground, since if we take that at face value, it led Max and his dad to recruiting just about every power hungry maniac on the planet into his close circle of advisers (save one guy, but he was framed with treason and banished of course). The only good thing the stuff apparently did was lead him to having Sally, who was apparently the only member of her family smart enough to tell the stuff to fuck off. Oh and it also made some useful plot solving macguffins...that wound up in the hands of the villains as much as it did the heroes. Speaking of the heroes, one of the first things he did when truly coming back to power(after the stint being mind controlled while in power) was to disband the freedom fighters, while they were still in the process of fighting the remains of Robotnik's empire ('Botnik was dead at the time). He replaces them with his secret service...which would be great except that the majority of that team were either B-listers, rookies, or would turn out to be more traitors. There was also the time when he decided to lead a charge on Robotropolis, a cyberpunk city crawling with armed robots, hovertanks, and even a nuclear missile or two...with an army that didn't even have regular guns. Yeah, he ended up crippled the FIRST time after that one. Then there's just about EVERYTHING in how he's handled Sally. NightJack mentions him hiding part of his family during the war. Well, its somewhat telling that he didn't send anyone looking for them, or more specifically, his son, until AFTER it was becomming clear that Sal wouldn't be daddy's little puppet. So he gets his son back, and sticks him in charge...and while Elias is a great guy otherwise for the most part...a competent ruler he was not, especially during his first outing he was all but taking orders from Geoffry St.John(nee St. Jerk) Now surprisingly, after that, he actually got smart for a little while. The FFs were back, he actually officially APPROVED of Sal and Sonic's relationship(maybe), and had managed to browbeat Robotnik into turning over part of his empire(naturally, 'Botnik probably had his fingers crossed, since he almost immediately went back on that, but its the CMoA that counts). Unfortunatly, the smart brain cells died off in the end, and when he was poisoned by Patch(Antoine's evil alternate duplicate), he planned to transfer power to Sal...but ONLY after he forced her to go through with the sexist tradition that she get married first, to Patch himself 'natch(GRANTED, he was posing as Antoine, and NO ONE had managed to notice the switch...) Luckily Elias stepped in AGAIN, and to his credit, did a mostly good job so far... But it says a lot about how bad things had gotten under Max that when his former captain of the guard(And Tails' dad) got back from an extended trip to outer space, the first thing HE did was organize YET ANOTHER COUP. So yeah, not ALL my issues with comic!Max, but a good Chunk of the major ones. |

^ You do have to understand a lot of that was with good intentions with regards to the outcome he wanted, also it made him more then a generic 2d king as seen in a lot of stuff, so it's not really a bad thing.
Bottom line, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, so really you just being a little stuck up about it. |
| NightJack #1491203 6 days ago |
Also I think most of the reason for tyrant Celestia comeing about is from how a lot of people have seen her as someone that can do no wrong, and that doesn't sit right with people so they had to come up with a bad to it, as for Max, he has done wrong so he is a good king when you what he did to why he did it. |
| NightJack #1491206 6 days ago |
*when you compare what he did to why he did it |

@1491070 You forgot agreeing to turn control of Mobius over to Ixis Naugus while he was stuck in the Void. That REALLY came to bite him in the ass recently. To be fair, though, Naugus was using emotion manipulation and Elias DID surrender the kingdom to him...
But yeah, he sucks. Why did Sonic spend so much time trying to save this guy? |
| NightJack #1491223 6 days ago |
^ Love interest's father, DUH! |
| Spiritus_Arcane #1491351 6 days ago |
@1215
Eh, the Nagus thing is debatable whether it's Max's fault, considering the agreement was very much made under duress. And yeah, love interest's father, plus Sonic is the hero. |

I have to admit,I'm a fan of the comics, I but I agree with Arcane to a lesser extent that Max was a fucking ass at times. As a character, I love him. But I love him in that character you hate sort of way. He's on your side, but there's so many things about him that make you want to rip your hair our.
While I'll give youthat some were out of good intentions, his treatment of Sally and disbanding the FF I have to completely agree with Arcane on. I honestly have no fucking idea what he was thinking when he decided to replace the Freedom Fighters with the Secret Service. "Oh, these guys have been fighting Robotnik for over 10 years, have managed to take the lead in the fight, saved me from the Void, etc., etc., so let's replace them with this team I whipped together!" I'm not trying to dis on the Secret Service, but after EVERYTHING the FF had been through, I think they more than proved themselves as the most qualified to fight Robotnik. As for Sally, I'm only going to talk about before Sonic had his little vacation in space. He comes back and tries to force her to do what he wants despite everything she's been through. There's a point where keeping tradtion goes to far, and he went way past it. Sorry, but times change, especially given the events that occured in recent times. Sally was the leader of the force that managed to actually "defeat" said dictator, and you want to drag her back down to being a helpless princess? Hell no. There are other isues with him, but as far as him after the space incident, well, Sally's new personality didn't help. After issue 134 (look it up if you don't know), she basically proved his point that in making her own choices would only hurt her. Yes it's much more complicated than that, but on the surface, it can look that way. And for the coup by Tails's dad, shit, Max was litteraly insane by then, leaving Elias with a mess to clean up. King Max is an interesting character to say the least. His intentions usually are good, but there are good reasons that people have a problem with him after some of his actions. |
