Cadence can't make ponies fall in love. She can enhance the feeling of love between two ponies who already love each other. MORE REALISTIC ANSWER: She's allowed to do this sort of shit because she's royalty. EVIL ANSWER: Chrysalis could chain Cadence up, force her to make any ponies around her fall in love, then the Changelings eat the love. Then she does it again, forever. She could be their perpetual food supplier. |

HEADCANON EXPLANATION MODE ACTIVATED
The love poison that the Crusaders brewed up is different to Cadence's love spell. While the love poison makes anypony fall in love to a dangerous degree, the love spell is more of a mending spell, that allows ponies to see the beauty of lovers who are already a couple, and rekindle love that's already there. basically; - two ponies who are not in love WILL NOT be effected by Cadence's spell, as it mends, rekindles and strengthens love that is already present (like the couple who she helps in Twi's flashback). - two ponies who are not in love WILL be effected by love poison. This means anypony can get love-poisoned to anypony by anypony. |

Better head cannon fridge logic: Princess Cadence is the same alicorn princess that was subjected to the love potion/poison in the legend for the 'Hearts and Hooves Day' episode. The experience gave her a better understanding of the nature of love. Also, she has less direct responsibilities now because of said incident. |
