I don't quite understand the appeal in vore... But I won't hate on it or those who seem to 'get it'.

Eh, just one of those quirks. Trust me, even those of us into vore don't exactly get it.

One thing we can get though, collectively, is that nobody likes to look at bad fetish artwork, so hopefully even those not into vore can at least appreciate something that isn't eye-gouging.

I can agree that this artwork is good and it isn't nightmare fuel (unless your imagination hates you, mine does, so I now want to go kill a Dragon, but that's my problem and Skyrim will fix that).

But beyond that, I just can't grasp the whole vore thing. It bothers me more than the fact that I'm not into it. I simply feel a need to understand things, even things I don't enjoy.

It's just occurred to me that vore is extremely common in television. From those cartoons where a character is shrank to a tiny size and goes exploring someone's body in a tiny submarine, to Rainbow Dash eating Starscream's life force in the Death Battle series. It's something that isn't given a second thought by thousands, perhaps millions. So I find it even more strange that it isn't a a fetish I've known about since I first went on the internet, but only learned about in the past six months or so.

It's commonly used in television and movies because most people think being eaten alive is the worst fate possible. It gives the viewers a sense of excitement, but not in a sexual way.

Vore is slightly different because it's feeling aroused vs feeling scared. My theory is it has something to do with seeing somebody in trouble, but not being able to do anything about it, sort of like grim dark fans, who enjoy reading stories partly because of the excitement and the feelings of helplessness to reach out to the character in need.

If it means anything, I've enjoyed vore since I was like, 6, wayyyyy before it became arousing. So there's definitely something about it that isn't just for arousal purposes, which I guess is why some people enjoy vore art even when they're not into vore.

I've liked vore for as long as I can remember, and a big part of it for me is, well... it depends on whether it's willing or unwilling.

With unwilling, it's a HUGE dominance thing. There's something incredibly arousing about someone being reduced to something less than human; this applies to sexual situations that don't involve vore for me, though the thing they're reduced to isn't food, obviously.

In willing vore, though, it's totally different. It's about the love, and closeness of it. Being inside a stomach is pretty much the closest you can be with someone, and the walls are like a hug from all sides. And, if digestion is involved, then obviously there's something loving about sacrificing someone's body and life for someone they love.

And, despite what lots of haters say, going on and on about 'OMG YOURE GETTING OFF TO SOMEONE DYING YOURE SICK' that's really not at all what it's about for me. My favorite kinds of vore pictures are the ones that are cute, light-hearted, and unrealistic. When it gets too much focus on the aspects of pain or death, it kind of detracts from my enjoyment, and makes me feel bad for the prey.

And that's about all I can explain about it! There's other things I like, like bulges and big round tummies, but I don't really even know how to begin explaining that. :P

I'm more into the fact that the prey is reduced to nothing, just food and absorbed into the predator completely. I like it the best when the predator enjoys it and plays with the prey. I like both willing and unwilling, but I like it almost only when the prey gets fully digested, or when it's obvious that it will happen. Death is a very important part for me, so it sucks that so many vore artists do less serious vore. I like hard vore too, when blood and guts are involved. I only like micro and macro, not same-size vore. It's a huge domination thing, yes.
