Over a hundred degrees? No way they'd be still alive. |
| Mayojar77 #1482820 1 week ago |
^ they're talking farenheight. The most confusing temperature system ever. |
| lordanubis #1482823 1 week ago |
Fahrenheit, Lium |
| Spiritus_Arcane #1482831 1 week ago |
Technically, Dash, since Celestia controls the sun, she CAN control the temperature. |

what is confusing about fahrenheit ? I certainly wouldn't switch to celsius where 45° is considered hot |
| Anonymous #1482867 1 week ago |
45 degrees Celsius is 113 degrees Fahrenheit. |
| Rodman #1482883 1 week ago |
^Yes, let us not use a system in which 0° is the freezing point of water and 100° is its boiling point. 'cause you know, that's just madness. Lets use the freezing point of alcohol as reference instead and name it some arbitrary number that isn't 0! |
| Gundlach #1482886 1 week ago |
When Celestia's in heat, everypony suffers.
--- Also, Celsius tends to be easier to use. (This is coming from a guy who uses Fahrenheit.) The base line for Celsius is the boiling and freezing points of water. Just an interesting fact. |

Rodman@1482883 said: I'll make an argument for the standard system for temperature. For most lay people, temperature is generally only measured for cooking and how hot it is outside. The difference between 100 and 90 degrees is noticeable. Same for the difference between 90 and 80. Same for 50 and 40. However, those differences aren't so drastic as the difference between 20 degrees Celsius and 30 degree Celsius. With Fahrenheit, ten degrees is an even, easy to remember increment in assessing temperature outside. Also note the desired internal cooking temperature for most meats. They wouldn't be all that far apart in Celsius, would they? However, the differences between internal cooking temperatures are more easily accessed (and memorized) in Fahrenheit. Basically, I find that for most people, Fahrenheit is more useful in practicality. You don't need to know at what temperature water boils or freezes. You just need to put it on the stove or in the freezer until it boils or freezes respectively. There's no reason to change it for the way lay people use it nor is there any reason to insult them unless you just want to feel good about yourself. The scientific world can use Celsius/Centigrade or Kelvins, but there's no reason to force a change in the sense of temperatures for the States. |

It's just because you americans are used to it.
Same thing with miles VS kilometres, inches VS centimetres, pounds VS Kilos ect. |
| AkatsukiKaizoku #1483196 1 week ago |
Everyone on this post@
You have NO idea how hard it is suffering in this heat, 100 F/40 c is overkill, even more when it-s combined with the thermal sensation. Living in a desert is suffering |
| hyourei #1483220 1 week ago |
Kelvin is the best temperature system. |
| Metropical #1483242 1 week ago |
God why does this comic have to be so true?! Damn it's too hot here in PA! |

*Looks out of window at rainy British weather*
:( |
| Anonymous #1483659 1 week ago |
Yes, Kelvin.
0° is really 0°. Craziness. I hated doing calculations with the American system. (Yeah, that's probably the best word for it now, rather than English or Imperial, since we're one of the last countries in the world that use it.) If a result was off, it sucked to figure out why, either a math error or a unit conversion error. In metric, the units made more sense, conversions were easier, and if a result was off by a factor of 10, it was almost certainly a simple unit conversion error somewhere. Metric. Fuck yeah. |

Anonymous@1483659 said: 0 K is "zero kelvin", not "zero kelvin degrees". And if "20% cooler" means 4/5 of the quantity of heat, if you take something like 310 K then you'd have 258 K, which means freezing cold (-15 °C, 5 °F)! |
| BigMax #1483865 1 week ago |
^ Gah, that should be 248 K, which is even cooler (-25 °C, -13 °F).
-18% would be 254.2 K (-19 °C, 2.5 °F). |
| -Lunacy #1485203 1 week ago |
Well technically since Celestia supposedly controls the sun, she could move it slightly further away from Equestria, thus making it slightly cooler... as well as lengthening the days. |
| ZeroSpawn47 #1485505 1 week ago |
really? an argument about system of measuring temperature, what is this, the roosterteeth podcast? |
