That would make for an interesting fanfiction. Dash goes to Twilight and ask for a spell to make her faster or more maneuverable. However, being just about as fast and maneuverable as a pegasus can get, the only way the spell can "improve" on her flight is by giving her more wings. |

^Spell has a very small print stating that it only works on existing limbs, Dash should think herself lucky that the spell didn't choose her head during the conversion process, otherwise she would've been quite the featherbrain. |

Could also be that Twilight refused to cast the spell or brew the potion, and Dash chose to take things into her own hooves with less than stellar results. |
