Just for the discussion about eggs; If there would be such a thing as dragons crossbreeding with non-egg-layers IRL, I would be very sure that the form of the pregnancy would be based on the mother since all females have eggs inside themselves, mammals just don't have a shell, just the egg-cells that develops inside of her before birth.
So, AB, dragon or non-dragon daddy, would still have a pony-pregnancy without any eggs |

^It still would not be the same,I mean.yeah the basically have he same funtion,however,the egg-cells and “eggs“ are different.
Ponies are placental mammals,which means it would require the baby to be inside the womb.Dragons are oviparous (the develpoment works mostly outside the mother's body)their process of reproduction works differently. So no,it should be impossible for AB to have Spike's baby simply because it would require AB to produce the egg shell,which she of course can't because she's a mammal. The fanfic which this pic is based on,it's portraying Spike like he can reproduce like a mammal,which is bullshit (no offense to the author)because we all know that Spike was born from an egg,heck just by the moment he introduces himself to Fluttershy as a dragon we know he is not a mammal. Of course there's still the “magic card“ which is still bullshit (again,no offense) because Faust said so. |

If anyone bothered to read the story, it shows that neither of them knew it was possible to inter-breed. Eventually it was discovered that, due to their magical nature, dragons can breed with anything.

Hasbro owns Wizard which owns Dungeons and Dragons. According to Wikipedia, D&D has this to say about dragons: "Dragons can also cross-breed with virtually any other creature, creating a half-dragon.
