Who would bash that third pic? |
| Psychopomf #1470242 2 weeks ago |
Yeah. I like them all and my favorite part of humanizations is seeing the different interpretations of what the Mane Six would be as humans
No one has yet to draw them as casual nudists however. Darn folks. A-hem...anyone can someone direct toward the three example pics so I might be able to find artists? |
| ProfessorOfHoers #1470244 2 weeks ago |
Yeah, sucks when people like what they like.
I like them to be ponies. |
| Yorec #1470250 2 weeks ago |
I think it has to do more with personal taste in certain artistic styles than a matter of race or weight.
Yes there are some people who are really that shallow but it just seems like there are a lot of those people because they are the most vocal. And I don't find the picture in the upper right to be a "generic" design, I think it looks well drawn and in tune with the show. If the characters ever became human that is what I'd imagine they look like in terms of overall design aesthetic. What I'm saying is that it all comes down to a matter of personal taste. |
| OmegaSmash #1470251 2 weeks ago |
I'm pretty sure the last 2 pics don't get bashed at all. |

I really like the last two and the first one all well.
That last pic is actually by one of my favorite humanization artists. |

to tell the truth, we are a great fandom, but also like all other fandoms we have a good share of stupidity within us.
add to that that some user in here are from the infamous 4chan. and art in general is like that on a lot of sites, take a look at DeviantArt, lot of great pictures, photos, etc are ignored and sometimes the most crappy ones are very popular cuz they are from some anime or a comic... i habe seen a lot of artist that end hating some of they most popular works that were drawn just for the hell of it and their works that they put some serious efforts are barely watched. |
| WhirlyWillow #1470268 2 weeks ago |
Could someone link me to that first one at the bottom, actually? |
| ProfessorOfHoers #1470271 2 weeks ago |
Perhaps what I said came out too harsh.
I personally very rarely like any humanizations at all but the ones I do like are usually more in tune with the so called "generic" one up there. The reason is because that feels closer to their show style and I just find it more ascetically appealing. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the second or third pictures either. It's not my thing but if others like it more power to them. |

Bronies are bums, especially on Ponibooru. Anything that isn't cis, thin, White, un-tanned, has atypical hairstyles, human natural hair colors, and clothing outside of the fanon norm gets bashed.
I wonder if other fandoms are like this.. |
| Peanutbutter #1470283 2 weeks ago |
even though I prefer all the ponies to be white. I have nothing against black humanized ponies. I also think it fits pinkie pie to be fat. |
| Psychopomf #1470301 2 weeks ago |
@Peanutbutter
My own personal human thoughts is she is a lil bit pudgey from fudgey Though I cant decide if she should be the shortest (small and cute) or RD should (chihuahua syndrome) |
| Psychopomf #1470305 2 weeks ago |
@Posey
Oh its just a small handful of mostly anonymouseses. Anonymii? ...Anyway. Its the same people who argue about Vinyl's eyes. Two or three people trolling, one or two actually making big dumb arguments, and the rest of people going 'Who CARES' |
| Yorec #1470308 2 weeks ago |
@Psycho
I think Anonymous serves as both the singular and the plural. |
| Arne #1470313 2 weeks ago |
I would bash that one on the far right only because Fluttershy has a hijab. Hijabs are damn ugly and sane person would willing make one part of a character's design. If they would just not include that, and actually give her hair, I would be fine with it. |
| sigh #1470320 2 weeks ago |
The people that draw them as something other than skinny white girls can't draw very well. If they knew how to make a face without crawling deep into the uncanny valley then I'd be fine with them all. |
| ProfessorOfHoers #1470336 2 weeks ago |
^That's an interesting notion sigh; btw, long time no see.
Do you think that may have to do with the fact that anime style (which is popular) tends to favor certain achetypes and shapes? |
| Van_Horsing #1470365 2 weeks ago |
OP, next time you want to upload a discussion image, maybe make it small enough to fit on a single goddamn computer screen rather than eight of them. Also, people not liking what you like is not some sort of moral fucking conundrum to be dissected in a public forum, it's a matter of personal taste, which everyone is entitled to. Bashing other people's preferences is not ideal behavior, but it happens everywhere with every opinion on every subject in the world. It's something you have to deal with. |
| Anonymous #1470385 2 weeks ago |
I have nothing on the race case but I like to imagine that Pinkie stay slim despite all she eat thank to a hyperactive metabolism that would fit to her personality. |
| Anonymous #1470387 2 weeks ago |
Standard art work gets praised because it's truer to the vision of the characters. There's nothing wrong with changing the cast in a beautifully diverse rainbow of cultural understanding, but it will never be as popular as the most literal interpretation of the characters. Now stop fucking whining because your niche vision of the characters contrasts with the broadest interpretation of the characters. |
| Fronzel #1470586 2 weeks ago |
Has a bit of the whiff of whine about things like skin color and weight, but it has a point about art style. The show itself has a simplistic, easy, perhaps lazy art-style and fan-artists who try to put more effort into it than that should be appreciated for giving it a go, at least. |
| Vree #1471024 2 weeks ago |
Certain art styles match certain stories. While more effort could have gone in the third picture, the fact it does not change the source material around enough for its own style means that the first pne with a more cartoony style still feels like a better match.
Oh wait, I thought this was a discussion about artistic styles, not a response to race/fat haters. Quit that. |
| TheLoneLampman #1471256 2 weeks ago |
I won't comment on the race, but the show does indeed show ponies of many body types. The mane 6 are all the same height and weight, so I don't see why they would be different when humanized. Would you draw Ms. Cake skinny but Pinkie fat? Would you make Featherweight plump? Snips and Snails the same height? |
| Fronzel #1471577 2 weeks ago |
^ The main cast all having copy+pasted bodies is probably to make animation easier. It's not exactly a respectable heritage. What's wrong with trying to improve on it?
While the main cast all have the same bodies, should they? Should Pinkie Pie, who's constantly eating cakes, have the same body as Rainbow Dash, who's always sprinting from place to place? Should Twilight, who spends most of her time sitting and reading, have the same body as Applejack, who spends most of her's doing physical labor? |
| Anonymous #1471589 2 weeks ago |
Pinkie eats a lot, but she burns it right off with all her antics. |

RELIGION DOES NOT EXIST IN EQUESTRIA. |
| TheLoneLampman #1472145 2 weeks ago |
Fronzel: Because it is how the show is and it's a defining feature of the mane 6-- one of the very few things that can be translated from pony to the human form.
Why not redraw the ponies show-style as skinnier/fatter/shorter/taller then? Since it was aimed at girls, why not ignore that restriction and change some of them to male? Should any be female? Heck, should they even be ponies? I don't care about the human ponies but going against an already established feature of them seems like a step in the wrong direction. |
| Fronzel #1473318 2 weeks ago |
>Why not redraw the ponies show-style as skinnier/fatter/shorter/taller then?
Yes, please! I've rather wanted to see that! >why not ignore that restriction and change some of them to male? Should any be female? Heck, should they even be ponies? But that's changing what's already there whereas what I'm suggesting is conversely paying closer attention to what's there. It doesn't make sense for a pony depicted as physically weak (Twilight) to have the exact same body as one depicted as very strong (Applejack). It's done merely because it's easier that way. |
