Hi all. I understand there's a lot of dissatisfaction regarding my character choices for this series. First of all, let me apologize for that. I'm sorry you don't like it. I appreciate any and all feedback, and I thank you for taking the time to do so. If I may, do let me explain my choices a little.
Green: I'll admit, I never expected to choose her as GL. But it was a really difficult decision, to be honest. I had decided from the outset that I wanted the central Green Lantern (and only the Green Lantern) to be one of the Mane6 (in contrast to all the other Lanterns, which I wanted to be named supporting tertiary characters - I strictly wanted officially-recognised characters to avoid naming and personality confusions), in order to maintain a continuity of sorts from this current project into my next planned piece - a Justice League of Equestria featuring the Mane6. Applejack was the first to go - I wanted her as Wonder Woman because of the lasso. Fluttershy and Rarity were next - they obviously didn't fit the bill. As Twilight was the central character of the show, I wanted her to be one of the DC Trinity - I gave her the role of Batgirl. That left Pinkie and Dash. Both fearless and eligible Green Lantern material in their own right, I ultimately gave it to Pinkie; while Dash comes very close to the 'Hal Jordan' character, I needed her to fill the boots of Supergirl, leaving Pinkie to take the Green Lantern Power Ring. Red: I thought this one was quite straightforward. She was the angriest character on the show, so she naturally fit the bill in my eyes, I guess. Orange: Only three characters fit, in my opinion. Spike, Flim and Flam. Spike was out of the question - I wanted him as Robin to Twilight Sparkle's Batgirl. So Flim and Flam were chosen. I didn't want to leave either of them out, so I formulated a 'retcon' of sorts on the deviation page: Upon selection by the Orange Light, it was recognized that for complete combat effectiveness, the minds of Flim and Flam needed to be fused together as a single sentient being. And that is what the ring did; splitting itself into two copies, the ring possessed the consciousness of both brothers, producing a psychic link so strong the two believed they were one and the same. Yellow: I was originally considering the Changeling Queen for this, but the role of Black Lantern came up, and I thought that fit her a lot more with the 'imposters', 'feed off your emotions' gig she had going, so I relegated the Queen to the role of Black Lantern. The next candidate in line was Luna, because of Nightmare Night, so I gave her to the Sinestro Corps. I suppose I envisioned her to have a 'controllable double-personality' type of character - as Princess of the Night, she's able to strike fear with her control over the darkness, and if that's not enough, she can invoke her Nightmare Moon personality at will to further enhance that power. Blue: As the youngest 'fan-favourite' characters on the show, I thought they'd make great Blue Lanterns, with their disposition and never-say-die attitudes. This also had ties to my original Green Lantern choices - I was thinking there could be a 'Hope with Willpower' connection between Applebloom and Applejack, or Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash, but the decision stuck even after I changed my GL to Pinkie Pie. Indigo: Well, Tribe. African. Zecora. Ok, so I didn't put the most thought into this one :/ Star Sapphire: I thought this was pretty much a given, like Red. The first character I thought of when the word 'Love' poppued up was her. Again, I'm really sorry if you don't like or agree with my choices.
